$6.5 million so far. These fucking assholes stiff the federal government, then come to Oregon to play cowboy in protest, and leave us with a $6.5M+ bill. May every last one of them get a felony conviction. Aside from having thoroughly earned it, it’ll keep them from voting for a while. Of course. It’s already been pointed out a couple of times in this thread. It’s a very fitting punishment for them, but I imagine that the ATF will have a bear of a time confiscating the arsenals these jerks already own. Hopefully it won’t come down to more standoffs.

Depends on the state, but I believe that in most states felons can’t legally own firearms, for life – and getting caught with one while on probation sends you straight back to the joint. I was at a friend’s house last year and the cops came by to arrest a friend of hers – because she was on probation and she had pawned a gun, that is, she stupidly created a paper-trail showing she had had one in her possession.
I have no idea what is the federal law here, but I doubt it’s any more lenient.
It’s sort of like a do-it-yourself sting operation.
However, when convicted they’ll already be in custody.

Yes, but they have nutty families that are going on about how these idiots are being oppressed by the government. There have even been calls to action to protest the prosecution. It’s not much of a leap to expect these same families to ask like-minded people to come out and prevent the ATF from doing their jobs.
