The jailed guys (who aren’t affiliated with the Bundys but are complete nutters all the same) wrote to the Feds how the land had been opened in 1871 and nobody ain’t gots no right to tell 'em what to do with it or that they need no steenkeen permits to graze there.
I expect there’s a heap of sovereign citizenshitery down that rabbit hole to tie it all up together.

I will concede that you have a very tiny, albeit inadvertent and tangential, point: I’m far from the only one who can tell you’re an idiot.
Which involves basically letting this drag on long enough that the media (social and traditional) get bored with it. That will mean posting some agents at this site for perhaps several years (if these guys have supplies, they have supplies) - and charging them for the siege - which will mean putting liens on their land and cattle and executing on them - which to date the government hasn’t taken those sorts of steps against these yahoos. But first, you want to get these guys all nice and contained, with a whole bunch of them functionally self imprisoned - as many of them as you can get to join their cause. Then jam cell reception to the area. Then wait.
