Great Og1. That’s an assholy thing to say! I’m learning the lingo.
Posts on a goofy message board are not an accurate indicator of intelligence. Someone of your obvious high IQ, what with your fancy use of the colon, ought to know. Funny that my IQ would be considered 15 points higher if I parroted the SJW point of view on political topics.
No, this is someone’s business … bulls and cow make babies which are raised and sold every year … year after year … like any agricultural product.
The militiamen have told the press they want the government to give the land back to private ownership … which is very strange … no one wants it, or more they’d rather see Federale tax money pouring in from the useless wildlife refuge.
I had no idea that our country had grown so utterly bereft of suitable grazing land that we needed to start cannibalizing 100-year-old national parks in order to acquire more.
I certainly haven’t noticed any shortage of beef or milk in my local grocery store.
Are you so dumb you think someone beside you is talking about IQ?
I don’t know if you have even half a brain IRL, but you sure come across as a dipshit in your posts. And in the interest of fighting ignorance, I can back that last assertion up with evidence.
With the known racist beliefs of the Bundys, it would be awesome if the government did open the homested act again but limited it to the “40 acres and a mule” former enslaved African American farmers.
The Bundy’s POV is not marginal, it is absolutely invalid.
As I have stated before Bundy’s complaint is purely based in the fact that he thinks that because the government leased land to him the he has a right to title to that land. That is easily dismissed as pure BS as he could have accepted the new lease restrictions and he is the one that chose to quit paying rent. Everything above that is pure racist, white power sovereign citizen BS.
He IS guilty of sedition and should be treated as a terrorist. The ONLY way that you can compare this to Ruby Ridge is that the actors are white separatist Christians. Randy Weaver was attacked on his own property for failing to pay a $200 tax because a undercover informant pressured him to shorten it by 3/8’s of an inch shorter than the law allows without paying the tax.
They are squatting on land they have no right to and they are actively calling for rebellion. I want them to see their day in court but if the fact that these seditious white supremacist scum are being afford this right while we randomly kill thousands of innocent people world wide just because they happen to be physically close to a suspected terrorist and how we have police polices and procedures that viciously gun down minorities whom are by far better citizens than these scum really demonstrates how close our system is to ISIS and other non-secular powers around the world.
Maybe you missed that up-thread … this is desert … think central Nevada … all but completely useless land for anything but running cattle … and very few of those even. The land was once open for homesteading, 2 square miles per person as I understand it, but you had to live there five years to get it for free. Without a year-round water supply a person can’t live there. So then the land was turned over to BLM to do whatever they could with it and that wound up being leasing it to cattle people for just dirty cheap.
Science improved and now we see a benefit to the environment if we keep the cattle from trampling through the creek beds and intermittent lakes. The water will flow in these places for longer into the summer when trees and scrubs and what not is allow to grow … which in turn allows a few more head of cattle to graze.
Think of a cobbler setting up shop on the outskirts of a city … there’s plenty of cobblers in the city … but this guy can eek a living out in the boondocks then power to him … there’s no shortage of cobblers.
I have no idea why you said “cannibalizing 100-year-old national parks” … Yellowstone is hundreds of miles away … this refuge is a spot of water in a barren wasteland of a desert … no roads … no trees … no nothing … just white people
The small lake and riparian area/wetlands would not support grazing. Just feet it is a barren wasteland, although not technically not a desert but steppe and would not support many animals per acre.
Refuge, park, let’s call the whole thing off. The point is that this land has been set aside as a natural preserve for over a hundred years; it’s a little late to be griping about how President Roosevelt has unjustly deprived local agricultural entrepreneurs of profitable grazing land.
I’ve never been to Malheur, but I work frequently on another, much smaller refuge in the Great Basin. That 25,000 acre refuge (Malheur is ~190,000 acres) has a bunkhouse with space for 8-10 people, depending on how cozy you want to get, as well as some heavy equipment (for road maintenance and earth moving), a full shop, office spaces colocated with the visitor center, government vehicles, etc. That’s not necessarily typical, but a wildlife refuge can be a pretty intensive operation.
As far as blocking the roads… there are gravel and paved roads criscrossing the entire refuge, but you don’t really need roads to travel overland in that part of the country. If you have a high-clearance, 4WD vehicle and you don’t mind driving over vegetation, the high desert is pretty freely navigable as long as it’s dry.
From Andy Borowitz: OK, by now I’ve heard a lot of great names for the Oregon gang: “y’all-qaeda,” “yee-hawdists,” “yokel haram.” But I think my favorite is “fucking idiots.”
