The Bundys are at it again.

So, as felons they are forbidden from owning weapons, I understand. What is the penalty if they are found in violation of that dictate? (Asks the non American!)

18 USC § 922(g) & (n). Punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment. Includes “receiving” weapons or ammunition, so no borrowing your brother’s guns either.
(No minimum stated; up to 15 with no parole if “three strikes” law applies, i.e. constant recidivist)

Eh, they’ll do it, and we’ll hear about “what part of ‘shall not infringe’ are you not getting!?!” from the extremists.

The Bundys in particular. There is no point at which they are suddenly going to ‘get’ any of this and how stupid they’ve been behaving.

Has anything happened with Cliven recently?

Pretty much not. His trial isn’t until next year and his sons in Oregon are sucking up the attention prior to their trial next month. Unless I miss my guess Larry KKKlaman might have dropped his effort to be admitted PHV to serve as Cliven’s co counsel, seems he’s busy trying to sue Hillary or something. That and Joel Hansen, Cliven’s real attorney seems to have joined a new firm, perhaps they’ve discouraged Hansen from letting Larry ghostwrite bat shit crazy things to file with the court.

isn’t that his everyday preoccupation?

Senator Reid strongly believes that Gold Butte will become a national monument, leaving Cliven Bundy in a troubled strait. Even if he does manage to fend off the LAOTL, he would return home to a melon farm and not much else.

[DEL]Surely[/DEL] But of course he’s entitled to just compensation for the land he loves so much and has tended for so long?

Technically this news is connected to “The Bundys are at it”:[

You can seek leniency on a plea deal? After you make the deal? Man, talk about white privilege.

Well, the original kerfuffle was born out of a mandatory sentencing for the Hammonds, so we shall see how pleading for leniency in that context plays out. DeLemus was not a major participant in the occupation, so they might cut him some slack, but Cooper was involved and will probably face additional prosecution. Not sure how a plea deal works for him there.

I think you are confusing the Malheur occupation (the “again” in “The Bundys are at it again”) with the Bundy standoff (the “it” in “The Bundys are at it”). The article I linked to is about the standoff, not the Malheur occupation.

Yeah, quite a few of those guys have charges pending from the Bundy Ranch standoff. They basically have two chances to get fucked in the ass by the Feds, and they did it to themselves.

Right, they *thought *they had beat the Feds at the [del]“Ranch”[/del] illegally used federal land in Nevada, with their criminal armed threat against officials trying to enforce the law. Turns out the US of A had no interest in massacring civilians and could afford to wait out a bunch of losers until they got careless.

Jerry DeLemus and Blaine Cooper have pled guilty.

How many paragraphs into this self-involved bloviating do I have to get before it says what their plea deal is?

If your precious time is all that valuable, you could have clicked on the Oregon Live Link at the end of the very first sentence.

“Their plea deals call for sentences of six years in federal prison, although their defense attorneys can seek leniency at sentencing Dec. 1. Each also could be fined as much as $500,000 and be subject to as much as three years of government supervision after prison.”

And of course, the bullshit “I don’t know that I was threatening anyone” claims.

furp, too late

Well as clearly angry, deceitful and willful violators of laws involving firearms, I expect they’ll get the maximum sentence, right? :dubious:
