The Bundys are at it again.

Then let them hunt the Bundys’ cattle!

According to this Twitter post, they are now building roads.

This kind of damage in a sensitive environment does not just “go away”. This scar is going to be there for some time.

Basically, these yahoos just want the refuge for themselves. They want to convert public property into private property - for themselves. They want to take land that is of importance to wildlife, land that people use and value, and instead log it, have cattle destroy it, and drive their ATV’s and trucks all over it.

I would hope several thousand members of the public simply show up at the “occupation” and physically remove these arseholes. Send in the ladies with the rolling pins. Send in the angry birders. Take these little boys by the ears and march them out of there.

If law enforcement won’t act, perhaps it is time for the public to reclaim their land.

So apparently they’re planning on forming a sovereign citizens’ county government and will “try” the current county leaders for crimes (crimes including arresting the ranchers who set fire to the federal land).

In fairness, they also want to mine it. That’s not an environmental issue, is it?

I thought they were supposedly working on some sort of exit strategy. Building a road doesn’t seem like they plan on exiting very soon.

Maybe they’re planning on going out the back door.

I just read this morning that there is a trove of Native American artifacts at the government offices and Native Americans are worried about them.

Note to self: Monitor E-Bay for Native American artifacts.

One down, waiting on a second, for automobile theft.

.

I sincerely hope this signals a change in how this fucking nonsense is handled.

They said they had an exit plan. They never said what or when it was. It could be when the Hammonds are released, i.e., in 5 years. It could be when control of the refuge is ceded to the ranchers/loggers/miners, i.e., never.

Good article here at OregonLive. I did not realize that Ammon Bundy borrowed half a million dollars from the Federal Government for a small business loan. It looks like he has no problem with the feds when they give him money. It’s just the paying it back part he has problems with.

I especially loved this quote near the end:

Wait, “logging”? In Harney county? To be commercially viable, logging requires scores or hundreds of trees in relatively close proximity. I was in that area just this past summer: there are nine trees in the whole county. Those scrubby pines that grow out in every direction, about 16 feet tall, or less. Logging Harney or Malheur county is just a ridiculous notion, assuming one would want to make a profit. Most of the vegetation is sage, less than waist high. Maybe good for seasoning sausage.

One of the nuts has called for an armed confrontation with the federal forces tomorrow.

Medenbach was already on probation from a previous protest, so he will be on ice for a while. Hopefully, the other thief, deprived of his vehicle, ended up walking 30 miles back to the refuge, carrying groceries.

I hope they screw up the map of where they place the mines, and blow themselves to bits.

“It’s time we put a stop to white people moving about this country freely, until we can figure out what is going on with these white terrorists on Oregon.”

That guy has got a potty-mouth!
(And jack-booted thugs?? SDMB mods are fucking with those guys too now?)

Agreed – just so long as the authorities are careful not to go full Waco.

If only because that would, you know, damage the building.
