Alright thanks Darkhold for your donation. And… we just spent 100g on a bank tab. Special thanks to our vaultmaster (Riverheart/Omencaller/Pleonast) for a large donation, I’m not sure how much but it must’ve been a lot consider I logged on today to “I just donated a bunch of gold, only 11 to tab.”

Anyway, the rules for the tab are kind of in the works. So far everyone is set for 5 stacks (or items) per day. Withdraw these for crafting if you’re short on something, or some food if you’re running low on food with buffs etc. We’re also trying to keep the tab organized, i.e. the left column seemed to turn into cloth.

Another note: this is NOT your personal bank don’t just dump stuff there (especially if you don’t want others to have it). And use discretion when depositing, 3 stacks of linen, fine, some alts may like it. But we really don’t need you to deposit 280 linen cloth, especially when a good portion of the guild is at wool or higher at this point anyway. Me and our vaultmaster WILL clean your stuff out if theres no good reason for it to be there (we’ll try to return it to you though, we’re not that evil).

I’d just like to say that this guild is, for me, the best part of playing WOW. I’m totally new to the game, and I can’t even believe how much I’ve learned from all of you in these few weeks. I can’t imagine playing the game without the wisdom, kindness, patience, and silliness I enjoy with Burning Dog. Thank you all for bringing this joy into my life.

P.S. Virtual Birthday Fishing Party, all invited, BYO drinks, Saturday April 12. Pirates and ninjas encouraged; I can supply some or most with “the good stuff, mon”.

May I suggest that, instead of sending the mats or whatever back to people, if we get too much, that we just have a toon that will AH it and send the money to the guild bank?

Oom, “don’t mess wit da voo doo!” lol

Also, I don’t know if the newer people know, but WoW has a built in voice chat function, so if you have a mic, you can talk to your party members. If not, you can still listen, just hit escape, go to Sound & Voice, click on the Voice tab and on top, check “Enable voice chat”. I’d also suggest selecting Push-to-Talk and choosing a PTT key so we don’t have to listen to you eating chips when Voice Activated is enabled. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m also looking at Vent and TS servers, so hopefully that will be up soon too.

Update: Ok, I got us a 25 person ventrilo server. I’ll send the login info to our illustrious guild leader so he can put it in the guild info pane.

Woot! Unfortunately I’ll be out of town this coming weekend. I’ll take the laptop though and make sure I stay at a hotel with wifi.

Wow, Demo. That’s awesome!

Edit: I don’t play the mage much now that I’m working on the cow tank (moo!), but I am considering changing her name. I saw some morons from my main server spamming in trade and I really don’t want them to know I’m here.

For Bip, since we were talking about it in /g last night.

Nagrand from the air.

Hurray for the Armory now showing our characters. Now I can [del]spy on[/del] compare with others. It updates rather slow, though. The bank log is only at Friday. I’m working on a simple script to sum up the net contributions of each player, so we can see who’s donating and who’s borrowing. We don’t want to discourage players from borrowing from the guild gold supply when they need it, but we want to highly encourage donations. Next tab is 250g!

I was thinking along the same lines as Demo, with respect to a guild Auction House mule to liquidate unneeded items in the guild bank. Being Vaultmaster and very familiar with the workings of the AH, I think I’ll go ahead and do this. I’ll let you guys know in-game once I’ve made the alt.

I suggest these policies for items in the bank.

  1. Blue or better items will never be liquidated, unless we really need the cash.
  2. Green items will stay for one month. If after a month, no one needs it, I’ll put it in the right-most column, reserved for “To Be Disenchanted” items. Guild enchanters may then disenchant it. Mats generated from disenchanting guild items should be reserved for enchanting guildie’s gear.
  3. White items (and greens that can’t be disenchanted) will stay for one month. If after a month, no one needs it, I’ll liquidate it on the AH. The guild AH mule will only sell guild goods, so I can easily return those funds back to the guild bank.
  4. Gray items will be vendored as soon as I see them. Please, vendor a gray item yourself and just donate the gold, if you’re so inclined.

These are open to discussion, of course, but I think it’s workable. We can adjust the time period, depending on throughput.

Sounds good. I’ve been vendoring oddball greens, like cloth “of the bear” items, but anything I think will be useful for folks leveling, I’ll throw in the bank.

I’m skilling up the blacksmith, so expect crafted mail in there as well. Of course, if no one needs, vendor , AH or DE.

wonderlust, I’ll be around Saturday morning. Count me in.

My old guild held a weekly fishing party. We’d pick an exotic location, typically one where people hadn’t been lately. Enemy newbie zones were favorite locations. Those inclined would bring their favorite drink. Usually a few would bring wood for a cooking fire. And we’d fish, chat, dance, duel, toss a ball around, basically being social. My old guild was on an RP server, so we’d keep regular chat to the guild channel, and those who’d want to RP would use /say or /yell.

Fishing is an interesting gathering skill. Each area has a minimum fishing skill required, but no maximum. Even a player with a very high skill will still level it up in a newbie zone., so everyone can progress at the same place. Fishing can also be very tedious. Making it a party takes away the tedium! You’ll be surprised at how quickly your Fishing skill will increases if we do this weekly or even every other week.

Thanks to everyone who helped me go through RFC, I got a nice blue robe. Bird and I got all the WC quests lined up so if anyone wants to schedule a Sunday WC run this week i’m down for it. I’m usually on starting around 11am PST.

… That’s hardly fair, I had to withdraw for the tabard! :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway good job on the tallying/script, this could be useful

I find myself frustrated by the newness of the server economy. On a more mature server I’d have already sold enough ore to make a fairly comfortable living without any money tightness (except for shaman training…why is that so expensive?!).

Yeah, the economy is not good for anyone trying to make gold by selling mats. The market is completely glutted with the lowbie ore, herbs and skins. The market for twinks is poor; not many 70s leveling an alt and willing to pay well for fresh gear. The AH is still better than vendoring. There’s a lot of players working on professions; you just have to settle for less because of the oversupply.

There’s also the opportunity to make a profit by buying low and selling high. Look for low opening bids and buyouts, and then resell what you acquire at a higher price. Obviously risky, though. I got lucky and bought some Righteous Orbs at a pittance. It took a while to resell, but I made a handsome profit on it. That’s what funded our guild tab. Cheers for the free market!

Last night I was trying to figure out why this character of mine was so poor! I’ve pretty much always had mount money by the time I was 40 but I’m 45 with this toon and still a ways off. (Thank god for travel form.) I haven’t bought anything off the AH and druid training can’t be that much more expensive than other classes, if at all. In fact, I haven’t trained since 40 since I’m still waiting to get my mount. Anyway, I think it’s because leveling used to take a longer time, so you would kill more mobs, quest more, gather more, etc and end up making more money over a longer period of time. At least that’s the only logic I could come up with.

As for the fishing party, I think I may be out of town, but if not I’ll definitely be there. One thing I always tried to do with past guilds was do social events, though there was rarely any interest. One time I got everyone to climb to the airstrip on top of Ironforge, and another time an expedition to the hidden troll city in Felwood, and once we traveled as a guild when there was the holiday to collect tokens in different cities and instances. But I’d love to do regular social events, I think it makes the game a lot more fun.

wonderlust helped me test out the vent server and it’s working fine, so hop on in anytime! The login info should be in the guild info pane soon, if it’s not already.

Anyone interested in an Uldaman run this week? Wednesday evening? For our enchanters who don’t know, your master trainer is inside the instance there.

I’ll probably miss the fishing party as well; we have friends coming in town Thursday, so I’m guessing I won’t be around a whole lot over the weekend. And maybe not next week, either - we’re thinking it’s time to make the Great Trek North and return home, and that’ll take several days.

As far as the Vent channel, I won’t be participating. Voice chat takes all the fun out of the game for me, and I don’t trust the Vent client as far as security/stability.

Okay, when/where is the fishing party? Saturday’s are generally not good for me (until the evening), but I might be able to stop by during the kid’s nap time.

I’m in for the party after all, I just dropped 600 gold pieces(I wish) on a down payment for braces(at my age!) so no going out of town for us.

The party is open to all guildies, even those who don’t fish. I’m open to time and place, and probably least informed of anyone. I don’t know how low our levels go for members without alts, but one possibility is Thunder Bluff, with the Faire (shooting out of the cannon is fun!) and fishing spots all around.

Demo and Pleonast sound experienced in party planning. We could fish or play anywhere fun, so suggest away!

Is evening better for most people? Afternoon? Weigh in.

Demo, sorry to hear about the braces. You cows have some nasty teeth, I bet.

Yeah it’s all that chewing of the cud that does it…

Hey! look who dinged 40 today!

Grats Zem.

Edit: That’s Oom, standing next to him wearing our sweet guild tabbard.
