They sure did!
YAY! Excellent work guys!
I just got back from my neighbour’s soiree. The Caesars were just perfect, as was the hockey game. Holy crap did we dominate! I was worried about this game too, but Canada was just amazing.
I’m not used to seeing my team playing with such dominance and actually winning. So, it takes a little getting used to.
Congratulations boys, and girls too.
Oh - I guess that’s why everyone was talking about getting up at 4:30. Here I am, trundling out of bed at 8:30 and still hoping to catch the last few minutes.
Double gold in curling and hockey! Yay! Way to go, all you curlers and hockey players!
So, the way I see it, the medal standings should be calculated based on the number of medals actually handed out. So that’s like 50 gold medals from hockey and curling.
For fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs, this is pretty heady stuff! I’m not used to the team I’m pulling for winning!
That was one of the most lopsided 3-0 games in the history of hockey. It might as well have been 15-0 for all the chance of a comeback Sweden had.
You said it. And the U.S. game was the most lopsided 1-0 game ever. Both games were the most impressive exhibitions of hockey I’ve ever seen. Canada just smothered them. Awesome team and brilliantly coached.
Watching the game now. Don’t spoil it for me.
I think it’s too late for spoiler alerts now.
Tell me about it. Wait. My team actually won? What a concept!
Now back to the NHL where the Leafs actually do have a playoff chance. No more Bruin meltdowns; my heart can’t take it.
The Eastern Conference is weird in that you have three teams that are actually good - Boston, Pittsburgh, and Tampa Bay - a lot of teams that are sometimes good and sometimes not, two train wrecks in the Panthers and Islanders, and then the Sabres, who have been mathematically eliminated from the concept of sport. Toronto could finish fourth or tenth.
This is shaping up (to get back on topic) to be, potentially, an absolutely dreadful year for Canadian NHL teams. Right now all four Western Canada teams are out of the playoffs. In the East Montreal and Toronto are in and Ottawa is out, so that’s five out of seven teams right now that are set for an early offseason. Yuck.
I sort of feel bad that Sweden was missing 3 of their best players.
Oh well, I think we still would have won.
Is it just me, or does anyone else think this whole Justin Trudeau apology thing is way overblown? I’ve heard politicians make way more asinine remarks and walk away.
While we’re on Justin Trudeau can I complain about the Conservative radio ads about questioning his judgement due to his position on marijuana? They have replaced the stupid credit card ads as my teethgrinding advertisement.
The second ad on this page.

The only thing I question based on this ad is why this mother is giving her kids alcohol and cigarettes.
It wasn’t terribly egregious, but the fact that he attempted to make a joke about the Ukrainian situation, and Russia’s potential response to, you know, people being murdered in the streets was very glib and shallow.
Let’s be honest here; if the Prime Minister attempted a similar joke he would have been roasted, especially since mainstream media in Canada has a major disliking of the Conservatives.
Where on earth did you get that idea from. Give me a break.
No, I thought the same.
