The Canadope Café, 2014 Edition: In 3-D!

From what I’ve heard, you can’t even buy a trailer of some sort and just park it, because there are no places to park it - they’re all full to bursting.

Yeah, but there sure are a lot of jobs up there!

Where to in Alberta?

Stop in Saskatchewan en route and look around a bit.

I car pool 2 hours to work every day with two other guys. We don’t get paid for travel time. We’re not the only ones. Ontario has sucked the life out of manufacturing jobs with high energy costs, The bankruptcy of Nortel in the Ottawa region has flooded the market with highly-qualified employees and every job posting has hundreds and hundreds of qualified people applying.

Finding a job in Ontario, in the high-tech sector at least, is a fucking nightmare. I know people who have been looking for 2 or 3 years now with no offers.

Wherever I find a job :). I’ll probably start in the Calgary area, since that’s where I have some contacts.

But I’m willing to live pretty much anywhere in BC/Alberta; moving anywhere out west puts me much closer to family.

Fair enough. There are some great Dopers in the Calgary area.

And when you get settled, you’ll have to join us in one of our Alberta Dopefests!

Spoons’ basement will be getting pretty full at this rate.

Well, we’ve got dibs on the cat litter box area.

Mmmmm… cat litter.

No problem. I can get more litter boxes.

Such a good host!

So, this might be Bob Cole’s last year as a CBC hockey announcer.

I like Bob Cole. Bob Cole is timeless. Bob Cole sounds the same now as he did 30 years ago and he brings back so many familiar thoughts as he gives his “Oh Baby!” exclamations. I’ll miss Bob. Jim Hughson (heir apparent) just isn’t the same.

Good bye Bob. I’ll miss you.

OH BABY!

Okay that’s just eerie. I read this post, Kane scores to put the Hawks up 4-3 on the Kings and Bob Cole says, “Oh baby!”

Without HNIC, CBC is sunk. What else do they have worth watching? Maybe Rick Mercer and Dragon’s Den but after that it gets sketchy. What are going to do fill up air time with Just For Laughs: Gags?

Hinterland’s Who’s Who.

Pottery-Making in Norway.

There’s some new Hinterland Who’s Who segments on endangered species.

Aw man, Calgary just lost the Champion’s Cup in box lacrosse by one goal. Bah, humbug.

Although after the way the Roughnecks’ management treated my husband earlier this year, I kind of think they deserve it.

Lacrosse Night in Canada.
