The Canadope Café, 2014 Edition: In 3-D!

I’m from Winnipeg(ish), but I suspect that won’t count in this case.

Probably not - unless you will be at the same meeting I’m at.

Unbelievably, we’re not all mouth breathing, knuckle dragging, drunken louts like the Ottawa media likes to paint us. Sure, after a 5 hour drunken bus ride, but not ALL the time.

Either that, or they were so drunk that they thought they were singing the Canadian anthem.

Hah! The only problem with your theory is that the anthems are sung at the start of the game.

I fail to see why that is an issue. If I had to attend a Leafs game, you can bet I’d be drunk at the start of it… :stuck_out_tongue:
J/K. Maybe.

Meanwhile, the 5 Drive-in(9th line above the QEW in east Oakville – 'burb of Toronto) is still open. I guess it makes for a good excuse for teens to do whatever it is that teens do under blankets together.

Fort making - the timeless pastime.

Here I thought you would have said tents…

Oh, you said f**o**rt! Sorry.

Thunder Bay this morning at -24. Not safe for work.

Well, that guy’s naked!

Yeh, around here folks swim in lakes the buff and sauna in the buff without giving it a thought, but stand outside on the main drag at -24 and you get your parts posted on facebook and shared throughout the known universe. I hope that guy has a thick (and non-frostbitten) skin.

Thanks for the laugh, Muffin.

The Supreme Court of Canada has smacked down Walmart for closing a store for the purpose of union busting.

um - that was a while ago?

It’s one of a few matters arising out of Walmart closing it’s Jonquière store in 2005. That was the first store to unionize, negotiations didn’t go well, and Walmart closed it down immediately after an arbitrator was appointed. The gist of this case is that the SCC has slapped Walmart for unilaterally changing the conditions of the employment (i.e. yanking the store out from under the employees) during negotiations without a good business reason related to that store. Walmart tried to bust the union, so the SCC has busted Walmart.

Yes, I meant that the SCC decision is itself half a year old.

In other news, Ezra Levant has been getting into some trouble:

Ezra Levant Loses Libel Case, Owes Khurrum Awan $80,000

Ezra Levant must pay $80k for acting maliciously and with a reckless disregard for the truth? He’d best hope that the decision only applies to this case and not every time he’s done that.
