But there’s a problem with Levant’s epic-hate-on approach, which has become apparent now that he’s got an hour a day to fill as a Sun TV host: Whether he’s bashing the CBC, Occupy protestors, or David Suzuki, his style of attack is so obsessional that it sometimes seems like a manifestation of clinical mental illness. Last year, for instance, he devoted days on end to excoriating Chiquita Bananas for some half-imagined slight against the oilsands — which culminated with a crazed Ezra (I am not making this up) telling the company’s VP, in Spanish, and on air, to go have sex with his mother.

…he’s hosting an hour long self-promotional infomercial (“The Source with Ezra Levant”) on a ‘News Network’ that draws a total of 4000-5000 daily viewers; however that’s not all. The great news is that YOU too can devote your hard earned dollars to fund one of Ezra’s long-drawn, hate filled, obsessive fixations.

Literally a credit card dump.
Not many lawyers have as much experience in libel cases as he does.
I don’t get Sun TV, although I do like the premise of having a right wing station in Canada.
I had no idea Ezra was such a weirdo.
I have read some stuff by him that made sense to me; none of the above makes sense though.
You should read about the time he slandered Holocaust survivor George Soros as a war profiteering, Nazi-collaborator… Soros was ready to bury Ezra with his law team. Shame he didn’t go for the throat, but settled for a public apology.
I was actually just coming in to post about this.
I have had the privilege* to meet Ezra way back in the day and can assure all of you that this has been going on since at least the early 90s. As far as I’ve ever been able to tell, his primary source of pleasure is pontificating and this seems to be a family thing as his sister Opie also seemed to really enjoy the sound of her own voice whenever she felt the need to speak up in Student’s Legislative Counsel meetings at the University of Calgary.
Ezra and Calgary mayor Naheed Nenshi were debate partners for a time back then so they know each other quite well, in spite of being in very different places politically. This explains Ezra’s obsession, since Mayor Nenshi is well known and respected around the country and Ezra is known but largely despised.
Ezra is basically about the worst kind of person there is and it warms the cockles of my black little heart to hear that he lost yet another libel suit. He’s an insufferable douchebag and, like his very close personal friend Rob Anders, an embarrassment to Western Canada. The sun will shine brighter on the day he decides to just go away.
*Not actually a privilege. Not even remotely.
Any comments on the latest appointment to the Supreme Court?
I wonder why it is that so many “young conservatives” look like Winnie the Pooh? (here’s another example from the U.S.) In the schools I went there was always some loser who looked like that and was really into war gaming, “libertarian politics” and tried to hang out in the teacher’s lounge for fun.
I had never heard of her before the announcement yesterday.
A couple of disturbing APTN reports on food poverty in the north:

Mrs Piper is watching the 2013 Grey Cup “one last time before they’re not champions any more (sniff).”
Facebook has deleted the vid of a few days ago, but it has surfaced on youtube:
Thunder Bay this morning at -24. Not safe for work.
Um, go Hamilton, I guess.
This will be the third football game (of any league) that I’ve watched this year.
I bought a used copy of “The Big Lebowski” for ten bucks today too. That’s my default if the game’s too boring.
Yay, Calgary! So, anyone watching the news to see how the riots are going?
I ended up watching “The Dude.” A masterpiece.
Helluva Grey Cup last night. After dominating the first half, the Stamps were holding on for dear life as the Ti-Cats mounted that comeback in the second half. When Banks busted loos for that late punt return for a touchdown, I figured Hamilton had won; the block from behind penalty that negated Banks’ run ad to be an absolute morale killer for the Ti-Cats, and not just Banks.
If more Super Bowls came down to the last minute of play I might be more enthusiastic about watching them; the Grey Cup rarely disappoints, IMO.
The idea of the Super Bowl always being a blowout is decades out of joint with reality. Last year’s was a dreadful affair, but of course last year’s Grey Cup was a one-sided snoozer, too.
In fact, since the Era of Bad Super Bowls in the 1980s and early 1990s, there have been many thrillers.
Last year’s Grey Cup wasn’t a snoozer if you were a Rider fan! Especially if you were at Taylor Field!
Average margin of victory in the Super Bowl since 2000: 10.8
Average margin of victory in the Grey Cup since 2000: 7.9
Number of wins by 10+ in the Super Bowl since 2000: 6
Number of wins by 10+ in the Grey Cup since 2000: 5
Number of wins by 20+ in the Super Bowl since 2000: 3
Number of wins by 20+ in the Grey Cup since 2000: 1
Number of wins by 30+ in the Super Bowl since 2000: 1
Number of wins by 30+ in the Grey Cup since 2000: 0
The Super Bowl may suck less since the 1990s, but it is still statistically more likely to be a one-sided snoozer that you can turn off before any potential wardrobe malfunctions at halftime. YMMV.
Full props to the Mosaic Stadium at Taylor Field fans for bringing the noise! I can’t imagine any game being a snoozer there when the fans are that loud, which I appreciate. But man, Mosaic is not a good place to watch football—the concourse is shockingly small and cramped.
I’m looking forward to getting out to experience Rider Nation in the new building when it’s done. I assume it is still on target for a 2017 opening?
Why would you want to miss the wardrobe malfunctions?!?
