Can’t compare British Columbia to Ontario. Driving is a provincial jurisdiction, not federal.
Huh? You said you didn’t know the nuances of the Ontario system, and that link is to an Ontario government site. Also, what he said is right. You can’t drive on a 400 highway unless you’re with an instructor.
Looked to me like an apples and oranges post. You can do this in BC; you can do this in Ontario. I’m willing to accept I’m wrong. No big deal. But that was my interpretation.
No, you’re right. I missed the quoted bit.
I think it’s pretty much understood by all but the most woolly-headed that Spence is a joke. It’s a shame that her ridiculous hunger-strike-that-isn’t (like Leaffan, I do not for an instant believe she’s even limiting herself to broth) is taking attention away froma legitimate problem.
Spence is in Ottawa on her bullshit protest to run away from the plain fact that many of the problems in Attawapiskat are her fault, or at the very least she’s proven unable to much help the situation. Why do you think she’s changing her demands every now and then? It’s so she can stay in Ottawa and distract attention for her own role in the plight of the people she doesn’t work very hard to serve.
Bobby Sands died after hunger striking for 66 days. Theresa Spence has been “hunger striking” for half that duration now and is still overweight.
Draw your own conclusions.
I know a bunch of Torontonians (mostly Chinese) who did their road tests in Simcoe, Ontario (population ~15,000) rather than risk failing in the Big Smoke. My wife took the honourable route and settled for failing two or three times.
Well, you hit upon part of the problem right there, albeit in error; it has nothing to do with the government of Canada. It’s a provincial matter (or, for people in the USA, a state matter; if anything, in Canada the national government actually has LESS control over this sort of thing) and so the provinces aren’t willing to do too much to make it harder to get a license lest the voters go berzerk.
That said, you’re complaining about a safety problem that is getting better, not worse. Canada’s per capita rate of motor vehicle fatalities has been shrinking for decades and is less than half of what it was in the 70s.
Judging by how they merge onto Circle Drive, not very many.
Merging onto the 401? Suave Torontonians make sure their cars a lubed and then just slide their way in like a politician with a prostitute, wereas cowboys from the west just point and shoot.
My permanent permanent residency card finally arrived!!!
Cool. Where are you from? How long have you been here? Where in Canada do you reside? What do you do for a living?
“Better” doesn’t mean “good.” We have a long way to go still.
Yay!
Karnak says initially Connecticut and now Toronto; corporate and commercial transactions and litigation.
It’s really neat how Immigration Canada posts everything you could ever want to know about new landed residents.
KSO
Cool, welcome to this great big land!
Homorous. You take the Zamboni for a spin and clean up the ice.
I haven’t played enough to know the outcome: if any.
But thanks Google.
Does Google.com display the same thing? I can’t get there from here.
My school getting a Zamboni freed us from indentured servitude pushing wide shovels and carrying watering cans. ¡Viva la Zamboni Revolución!
G1 is a learners permit. To get that you only need to pass a written test, this is the level you get so you can prepare for the drivers test and the drivers test does not use 400 series highways.
Was it a Zamboni or a made-in-Canada Olympia brand ice resurfacer? According to Wikipedia, Olympia’s market share in North America is 70%.
Zamboni. Olypmia didn’t even exist back then.
