No high school reunions but I did go to my grammer school (parochial, grades K through 7) reunion back about 20 years ago. It was a trip. Some of the people looked exactly the same and some had changed dramatically. As I recall, the cutest boy was balding and the nerdy jug-earred kid was drop dead hunkorama! There was no clique-i-ness at all and everyone had a faaaaabulous time. I might could do that one again. I hardly remember the people I went to high school.
I keep in touch with my best friends from high school. We get together every summer in our hometown. (Well, we have for the last five or so years.) This year is my 25th and I haven’t heard if there’s a reunion. But, I’ll be seeing everyone I want to see anyway so who cares. I did go to my 10th. No cliquishness, but some dumbasses wanted to listen to c. 1981 music turned up to 11 for some reason. Hello, we’re not 18 anymore, we want to talk. I was most amused by everyone’s spouses. It was fun to see who on earth would marry them.
BIG NEWS DEPARTMENT – I am the proud owner of, for the last three hours, BIFOCALS. They’re progressives. I’m doing a little giant-horse stepping, but otherwise I am adjusting wonderfully. Who knew my watch could actually be read! :smack:
I only went to my 20th. A few friends I hadn’t seen in 20 years, and our wives adjourned to a late night sports bar, and saw the news early in the morning about Princess Di. It was ok, I was, I guess if I had to categorize - a jock in HS, but I was cross-categorical too. I hung out with kids from all the groups without a lot of prejudice.
20 was interesting, we were all old enough to be past all the cliqueness. I lived at the time in the same town I graduated from, so I ran into some people from time to time anyway, still it was nice to see some people I hadn’t seen in 20 years.
Next year will be 30, and I don’t know what’s planned, but I probably wouldn’t go. No reason, just 'cause.
Happy Birthday Dot!! Hope you have a wonderful day and a wonderful whatever-it-is you’re doing for your birthday.
Ellen, nice specs. <insert nerd smiley here>
Reunions, eh? I haven’t been out of anything long enough to have any. I graduated high school three years ago. I have no idea where I will be in 2 or 7 years, so I guess I’ll worry about it then.
I missed my 20th (not sure if there was a 10th) because apparently they’d lost track of me. My 30th should be this year, but I’m not sure if there is one. Guess I could find out. I think it would be amusing to drop in, but it’s more than 4 hours away and I’m not sure it’s worth the effort.
Went to the picnic at my brother’s 20th. We hung out with a lot of the same people (we’re only a year apart), so I saw a lot of people I knew. A lot hadn’t really changed. The ones who had, had changed radically. Had to come home and look in yearbooks to remember who the heck a couple of people were.
Tired. Guess I’ll take a nap and then consider dinner (I had a late lunch…).

Talk about shattering illusions. GT, dear, I thought you were 30-something, and not one of us olde phartes…
What day is it?
This is the first chance I had to pop in and say “Hi” this week. (Hi!)
Unless I already did and forgot. That could happen.
You know what I did yesterday? I went camping. Just a quick over-nighter at a local State Park. There were four campsites being used. It was sparsely populated. And I communed with Nature. A raccoon anyway. A big ol’ fat raccoon. It came waddling into my campsite while I was still awake so I communed at it. I said “No!” at it real mean like, and it turned around and waddled back into the woods. (What would I have done if it hadn’t waddled off? Nothing really. I probably wouldn’t have even thrown a rock at it or nuthin’. As long as it stayed away from my Jiffy Pop.) Not like it went anywhere. Like, 15 minutes later I see little raccoon eyes glinting in the woods.
“I see you!” I communed more. “Go on, git!” and it waddled off not to be caught out by me again.
I’m pretty sure right after I went to sleep the fat critter rooted around my campsite looking for some moochable grub. But I keep a clean site and its hopes were thwarted.
I am a Raccoon Thwarter. Fear me.
Hahahahaha. You win, Rue, you just win. Everything.
Howdy y’all! Just pokin’ my head in to say a quick howdy do. G’ville was fine. Ate dinner last night at a place called Northwest Grille. Broiled shrimp stuffed with crabmeat and jumbo sea scallops. YUM! I topped it all off with a slice of turtle ice cream cake. I’ll talk more later. Right now, I have one thing to do then it’s off to beddy bye for me cause I am tahrd!
<clearing throat> AHEM <clearing throat>

Bloody Hell!
I typed u pa big long post about a dilemma my big mouth got me into and I went to hit the right shift button and hit something else insteda (Ctrl maybe or this other key with some kinda indecipherable graphic on it) and my whole big long post just disappeared! Poof! Whatever button I pushed, I want it off of my keyboard!
I blame Bill Gates!
Ya’ll have a good weekend.
Harumph!
BTW, is that what they call communion? I always wondered.
I’m so discombuberated, I forgot how to type. That last comment was directed at Rue re: communing with nature. I knew some people who lived on a commune once. They thought they were very natural. I thought they coulda used a little more soap. They were also very much into sharing, ‘cept they didn’t have much, so they liked to share other folks’ stuff. We had a fundamental disagreement about that too.
Oh! and Happy Birthday, Dottie!!!
Wow, Bumba! We got a three-fer out of you!
I am so very glad it’s Friday and I’m finally home. Traffic really sucked. I was stuck in traffic due to two different accidents. I travel by the backroads, so this is unusual, not mention frustrating.
I came home to find Mr. Taters sitting in front of the TV with two of his friends watching Howard Stern on Demand. He needs to get with the program and sign some dang paperwork so I can take it to be UPS’d overnight. He could have taken care of it himself, but noooooooooo, he didn’t so now I need to. Dangit! I want to relax!
The weather here today has been just BEEEEEEE-YOOOO-TI-FUL and warm. But, of course, it’s going to rain tomorrow. Why? It’s the weekend of course! And, that’s what it almost always does on a spring weekend here.
Hubby bought himself a new wakeboard yesterday. I’ve never ridden a wakeboard, so we shall see how I do at this. It looks somewhat tricky trying to get up.
What else, what else have I got? Hmmm, nothing.
Oh! Hi Rue, you big raccoon scarer, and communer with nature, you!
Well, time to push the hubby into signing the paper so I can rush it back out!
Does it help if I tell you that I reliably act 30-something (or less…)?
Hi Rue! Is that a preview of the May 20 experience? I just want to be prepared. Do I need to be trained in raccoon thwarting?
Bumba! Come back! We want to hear about your dilemma.
So Ellen, do we get to see a pic of you in the new specs? I’ve been wearing bifocals for a couple of years - if they hadn’t had the sticker on them, I would have sworn they weren’t bifocals because I didn’t need much adjusting to them at all. But they do help with the teeny tiny writing.
GT (am not an olde pharte! )
Huh. I haven’t really thought about going to my 1oth anniversary high school stuff. I guess it’ll be next year. Huh. I’m not sure I want to see any of those people, really. Maybe in ten more years.
Tomorrow is welby day! Wish me luck. Should I approach cautiously so as not to scare the timid Americans? They may be already pretty much in culture shock. We have black squirrels, a clean transit system, and practically no Mexican restaurants, which is a pity. No good barbeque, either.
I made another dress today. I’ll be wearing one of my new dresses tomorrow, so I’ll get welby to take lots of pics. I went to the mall today, walked around, and saw that 50’s sundresses are in. Knee-length, with flirty skirts. So I came home and sewed. Today’s dress has cap sleeves, a flirty skirt, and a front that sort of ties. It’s really damn adorable. I will put up pics of all of them sometime this week. It is also made out of t-shirts. Go me!
awwwwww thanks for all the birthday wishes!! and so pretty, too!
A couple of my dance class buddies showed up at my work. They brought me a birthday mango and diet pepsi (temptation! oh god, vile temptation! I gave it to my mom.) they convinced some customers to sing to me. brats. I love them.
raah, I’m still sick. Not dying, though, so that’s an improvement. I’ve had two excruciating days of rest, and I have a whole weekend of shows to make up for it.
Lissla I can’t wait to see pictures. Dresses are my current love. Fashion is this week’s I-want-to-dedicate-my-life-to-loving-it passion.
Right. Now to make a legible sign that says “putz”. Morning, everyone.
Let’s see, I have to get bagels, maple syrup, duck fat, Mexican hot chocolate. Right.
I’ve heard of food as art, but jeez Li-Li - you’ll frighten the folks at the airport with a sign made from those things.
full day today ending with dinner with friends. Have a lovely Saturday, I’ll check back in tonight
:smack: I realize the airport is not the designated meeting place. I’m a :wally
Well, gee, rosie, at least Lissla won’t have to scroll up if she needs to remember what that smiley looks like? (Yeah, that’s me, always looking for the bright side.)
I’ve been up for a while, had some oatmeal for breakfast (seemed easy), am contemplating having a grapefruit, and am going to start laundry and gardening momentarily.
Going to celebrate a friend’s birthday later this afternoon. Hope to get lots done before I leave…
