Happy Birthday, Dots!
I’m going to Maine tonight. Woooooo! Now I just have to get through the day.

Happy birthday, Dottie. The check is in the mail and your strip-o-gram is on its way.
What?
Wow–a birthday! Wheee! Happy Birthday, Dorothy!
The Cherry family is indeed better. Boy Wonder was champing at the bit to get outside and play after being laid up at Grandmothers all day. Poor lad. Baby is still a crabapple and has a runny nose, but he does tend to sunny up after he gets the tantrumming out of his system. And he looks adorable today in his widdle overalls. Husband’s extracted tooth (or rather, the place where the tooth was) no longer hurts, and we had barbecue for dinner last night.
My hair spray smells weird. This ever happen to anybody? I think the fragrence pooped out. I bought a couple cans of Rave on the sale rack a couple months ago and I think the smell expired. Anyway, my head smells like a chem lab.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! bumba, that is the funniest thing I’ve read all day!
So what’d I miss? What’s with the cane? Glad your mending whatever it was.
Alright everyone…time to lay down whatever it is you’re doing and do the TGIF dance! Y’all ready? Okay let’s do it!!! ::dances like a crazy Indian person::
Don’t know if it’s been on the news nationally, but just to let you know, we’re on fire again. Nice big one over by the cape. Jumped I-95 and they had to close it. Threatening some houses, too. This is not good. There is so much dry junk in the woods since the hurricanes.
fcm, congrats on the second happiest day of your lives.
Happy birthday, dot. Eat some cake…trust me…it’ll be good for what ails ya.

When I was in high school, I actually managed to convince my mother that it was my hair spray that smelled like cigarette smoke, and certainly not me.
She’s really a very smart person–I just lied so rarely that nobody ever thought I might not be telling the truth.
Bwahahahah!
Back in the early 70s, when Coppertone actually made a spray-on tanning lotion (aerosol can, not spritz) a life guard thought I was smoking by the pool (not allowed at Parkwood) - I had to spray some of the gunk on him to prove I wasn’t
Happy Friday one and sundry.
Happy Birthday Dots!
Speaking of birthdays, we’re having a birthday potluck today to celebrate all the April birthdays and the one May birthday (mine). But, do think I could remember that? Nooooo, I didn’t, so I feel like a total :wally . I can’t really rush out to get anything because I can’t really buy anything here on post. I feel like such an idiot. There will be plenty of food; there always is; but I feel stupid eating it if I don’t contribute.
The reason I forgot about the potluck was that I had a couple of errands to run right after work; then when I walked in the door, I was informed we were going out to dinner. Then my mother arrived about two minutes later, and we all went out to dinner. Then, we came back home and I helped my mother with a durable power of attorney and a living will/healthcare power of attorney. On top of all that, we had our friend’s son with us, because his Dad was in the hospital. And, finally, I was all stressed because the stoopit people at the place we’re doing our HELOC at lost some of our paperwork and they have to send it AGAIN for us to sign, which FURTHER holds up the disbursement of funds. So, my mind was going in fifty different directions last night, and I totally, totally, forgot about the potluck.
mika, keep your eye on that gal, do not trust her. I have lived with my fair share of backstabbers.
Well, I need to work now.
I woke up at 4:00 am with the pounding headache that I went to bed with, seems that I have another sinus infection…yippee. Since I was up, the dogs felt the need for breakfast right now and by the time I was settled back in bed, having swallowed some ibuprofen and benedryl it was 5:30 and the sky was light…long Alaska days are on their way. However, it was already light enough when I got up to see that overnight we had about 6 inches of snow dumped on us overnight. Again, yippee.
On Wednesday I had a meeting with the school regarding my son. He has ADHD, and since being diagnosed in the 4th grade he has been in a program which, while not the Special Ed. that I remember from way back when I was in school, has made accommodations for his needs. As he will be attending the Middle School next year his team (and myself) want to make certain that he doesn’t fall through any cracks and all. May I mention just how much I dislike psychiatrists/psychologists whose first and loudest recommendations are to medicate the child? When he was first diagnosed I filled the adderal script, gave him one dose which was supposed to last 4 -6 hours. I gave him the med at 7:00 am, he had a very bad reaction to it, and didn’t come off the effects until 3:00 am. He begged me to never give it to him again, and I promised I won’t, it was truly frightening. I have worked with developmentally disabled adults, I know how to implement behavior modification, and it has worked out fine with my son. What did the Middle School psychologist suggest right off the bat? Antidepressants. Sometimes I just want to scream at those people, it’s their job to help the kids, not medicate them into docility. I’d cuss, but it’s not The Pit.
Daughter #3 was supposed to go camping with a friend’s family this weekend, but the weather has cancelled those plans, so they are just going to have a sleepover. My husband is still working on the seine, so after school lets out it will be just my son and I, which makes for an easy dinner. He will want pizza, and we will probably watch King Kong together.
Saturday my contractor will be here to finish sanding and primering the living room, and we ought to get the painting done over the weekend, but with this sinus infection I don’t know if it will happen.
elenorigby ebay is a wonderful place…retail therapy and gambling all in one package. What you want to do is find several auctions of the item you are interested in, do not bid but watch it in your ebay. When the time is running out, if you feel you can afford the price, wait until the last moment you can (I have dialup, so I sometimes cut it too close) and put you bid in. It’s called sniping, but sometimes it works very well!
Lissla Lissar mmmmmm, nanimo bars! It’s been sooooo long since I have had those!
Tupug Anachi: The country singer in South Pacific would be Reba McEntire. I am so sorry I missed it.
The parental situation is something I can empathize with. i live 1,500 miles from my parents and last remaining grandparent. It’s difficult to live with them so far away now, and i don’t know how things are going to work out when their decline reaches a point where i need to be there. Not knowing your mother’s age, may I suggest that there may be some hormonal shifts affecting her behavior? My mom went batty, very much the martyr, when she went through menopause, to the point where I moved 1,500 miles away. She and my dad (step, but he’s been more of a dad than biodad ever was) have made 5 moves in the last eight years, from Washington to Hawaii, to Florida, to a condo in Washington, to an apartment in Washington, and now they have bought another house in Washington. I have two younger brothers and a step sister, all who live in the same area as our parents, but mom and dad have let me know that I am the one they want to handle their affairs when the time comes. It’s very painful at times to see them growing older, and knowing that their health is declining is very hard. I do hope for your sake that everything works out for the best.
Happy Birthday, SurrenderDorothy best wishes for the day, and the year to come!
Well, it’s time to run the kids and my husband out of the house. It’s still snowing, yippee. Just yesterday I was grubbing in my flower beds and being all happy that the foxglove, iris, sweet william, etc. were up and growing, and the rhubarb has big crinkly leaves and the chives are already tall enough for sniping. Now they are all disappeared under a blanket of white. Truly a bah humbug sort of morning!
:: overslept ::
:: is running late ::
I’ll be back later, I promise!
Morning, and Happy Birthday Dot!
Today Mr. Lissar is home, so I hope we’ll get in some mutual housecleaning, be able to have dinner together, and maybe watch a movie. That would be nice. Tomorrow it’s the fated welby meeting! Whee!
Mika and gt, your trees are lovely. I love crabapple blossoms. So pretty.
Hola, Happy Friday!!!
Happy Birthday Dot!
I’m not working today - I had some errands to run, and these people give me a total of 47 days a year to use, it’s just easier to take a day to do things than try to cram it all in around my schedule.
I just got back from dropping the Princess (aka Bus Kid) at Midawy. She’s off the San Diego to visit the Marine. The Marine was dumped about a year and half ago in favor of the Jerk That Hit Her at her school. Now the JTHH, in one of those wild coincidence things, is being sentenced today in Ohio for the battery, and criminal menacing. Yeah, on the day she’s flying off to see the good one. I like the Marine. Nice kid, respects her, keeps her on the pedestal all Princesses belong on. and he’s somewhat of a wise-ass. I’d be a hypocrite NOT to like that in a guy.
Now - off to the gym, shower there, and kill some time picking up some things at the mall. I think we’re supposed to be bowling tonight. Gah, I hate whatever it is they call that stupid thing where you bowl backwards, then through your partners legs, then wrong-handed, etc. Just bring me a beer, and let me bowl.
Listen to me - so crabby on such a beautiful day.
So - if I don’t get back here today, everyone have a great Friday!
Happy B-day, Dotalina! <flinging confetti in wild and reckless abandon>
I’m playing hooky this afternoon. I went to a briefing at 10, and bailed at noon. I got my prescription for my cholesterol meds filled, then drove to the Colonel’s for a pot pie. Yum. Perhaps later, I’ll get all motivated, but for now, I’m chillin’…
Do I recall correctly that welby wants to do the next MMP, summing up his trip? Assuming he doesn’t join the Stable of Husbands[sup]TM[/sup]??
You are recalling correctly. I put dibs on the MMP for next week.
:smack: :smack:
That would be HE (welby) called dibs for the MMP next week. That’s what I get for multi-tasking.
My HS 30th is in two weeks - Gee I have to wash my hair that night. Y’see the people that attend these were the popular kids, the ones with “school spirit”. Not the theatre/music/arts folks or the sciencemath nerds; and I hung with the artsies and the nerds (I was both). And we only accounted for about 15% of the class. There is only one person from high school with whom I still am, or care to be, in touch.
So, any of you ever go to your 30th?
I’m old, but I ain’t that old, yet.
Mine will be in '09. I missed the 25th because of impending bankruptcy, so the next one is a must.
I went to my 10th. I was saddened to see how some folks just stayed stuck in that high school mentality. I don’t know if my class had any others, but I wasn’t interested. There are a few folks I’d love to track down, but I don’t even care enough to search for them…
I skipped both my 10th and 20th year reunions. I don’t have any real desire to see anyone I went to school with. There might be one or two, but like FCM I don’t really care enough to even search for them.
My 25th is next year, but I’m not even sure there will even be a 25th. I’ve run into people I went to school with and they’ve told me that the reunions were just like high school - - all cliquish and stuff. Who the hell needs that?
It is absolutely gorgeous outside, but I’m stuck here at work. Le sigh…
I’ve gone to the 5, 10 and 20. I would of had a lot more fun at the 10th if’n I didn’t take my wife with me. She hated her high school years and thought that I should also hate mine, and did her best to ruin that night for me. I like 'em, and I was never in what would be considered the popular HS crowd.
Okay, really rushed today. Hope everyone is feeling better, and that you have safe trips, and that you have a good birthday, and anything else I may have forgotten.
Have a good weekend, y’all.
