New York abandonned tabs a long time ago (in the 80s I think) and went with windshield stickers instead. And now they renew bi annually, and the fee is reasonable - less than $50 per year
LiLi - I’ve met welby, and I think he was bearded. Never met his wife, tho. That’s a lot of help, right?
I was going to work in the yard today, but I’m sooooooo tired. I had a hard time falling asleep last night, and the stoopit cat kept coming in to bother me - wanting to get under the covers and all. So instead, I’m thinking I’ll run the vacuum and maybe thaw something for dinner. woohoo. And pay bills - there’s another good time.
This has been way too long a week. If I wasn’t such a dedicated professional, I’d take tomorrow off.
Stop snickering - I am dedicated!
I know I’m being childish. It’s just that they’re my only family, we’re very close, and we like to get together and do things. And right now I’m just feeling really hurt that they’re pretty much saying “We don’t care about seeing you any more.” Actually, my mother just about said that. We’ve always been close - friends as well as family - and I just can’t understand how they can suddenly not care about being able to visit me.
What kind of Overlord could you be if you couldn’t take a day off? Not any Overlord I’d want ruling the cosmos!
Hi y’all. I’ve got nuttin’ except to say that every day, in every way, I just keep getting better and better. I’m walking pretty well now, still with a cane though. 'Sides, it gives me something to threaten the kids with.
Speaking of which, Taxi, your parents will be fine. They’ll be in a place where they will be able to get help at any moment from people who are experienced with the special challenges older folks face. Have faith, dear. They’ll be okay without you.
FCM, be sure to run the vacuum wherever the cat is sleeping during the day. They just love that!
BTW, I’m pretty sure WelbyWife is not bearded. Welby I’m not so sure about. I would suggest you just make a big sign with :wally on it. Welby will surely know what that means.
[sub]I keep trying to restrain myself, but it just isn’t working![/sub]
No kidding. She’s lost my trust, you know. See if I ever help her again.
I always say - don’t piss off the AA/secretaries! I have my boss’s ear, and I know what’s going on all over the place. I won’t do anything overtly to her but I most certainly will report back to her boss and my boss, and I won’t even go out of my way to help her.
The really ironic thing is my coworkers have had lots of bad experiences with her and they’ve been badmouthing her for weeks. I’ve been defending her, saying she’s stressed and overworked. And now this.
Grrr…
In some good news, though, we had our Bank Day (they can go to the bank to deposit money early for the Walk) and we did phenomenally! $6,423 for Albany walksite, and usually for bank day we do maybe $1500. Woohoo!
Self-restraint is overrated, Bumba. You should get a spike on the end of your cane, and plant it in people’s feet, lean on it, and tell 'em stories about the good old days, when kids were properly respectful, and the grass was a better colour, and everyone dressed normal…
It’ll be fun.
I should leave for work. I just ate yummy chicken mozzarella spinach stuff. Mmm.
Congrats on the big haul, Mika! That’s wonderful. You’ll be making a lot of parents happy with that load o’ loot.
The plan for tonight is studying for my second General Relativity test. Saturday I’ll finish my philosophy paper, and Sunday I’ll study for third E&M Theory test, or vice versa. I’m not picky, as long as it gets done. Then Monday I’ll study more GR, and Tuesday and Wednesday will be the last Abstract Algebra homework. My classes end Tuesday. breathes Oh, and in and around all of this I need to finish the reading summaries and responses for my philosophy class, and finish my undergraduate thesis.
I can do this. I can do this. I can do this.
I can do this, right?
The little wuss bolted when I pulled the vacuum out of the closet. And the dog hid in the dining room. Stoopit animals! I’ve never teased them with any appliances, but they still have to clear the area.
FCD is still at work - that poor man puts in way too many hours these days. They do give him comp time, so that’s good, but the stress level right about now is pretty high. And he thinks he’ll be going in this weekend. Can’t catch a break.
Now, if I wanted to be super-nice, I’d say “Honey, let’s go see that Hans Christian again” - it’s a sailboat he’s lusting after. But that would kinda negate the whole sell-the-motorsailer thing. So I’m not going to say anything. But I’ll rub his shoulders. Not exactly the same, but it’s the best I can manage today.
Mika - I think you should poke your idiot coworker with a pointy stick. Twice at least. That’ll learn her!!! Or not.
Welcome to my world.
And I can’t believe I misspelled every other word in my earlier post. Can I blame the keyboard?
just say you were using Stephen Colbert’s missing proofreader (ref Tuesday’s show)
All my things that were in getting fixed are done now.
My bike, which had been 'delayed" in it’s spring overhaul is done and will be under me this afternoon once I’m home.
My lawnmower is done from it’s fix and sharpen session. That can wait for tomorrow.
And, we got a flyer in the paper that there’s a new pizza place in town.
Guess what I’m making for dinner? A phone call!!! I’m killing me here, someone make me stop.
since when have you turned into a Jewish American Princess?
You got one I can borrow? Preferably one that has a big buzzing wasp’s nest on the end of it.
(Says Mika, who has never been wasp- or bee-stung and just got chased back into her house by a big mean angry wasp.)
You guys, can I share some pics? OK!
These are from the tree right outside my balcony. Please look at them in order!
Picture 1(you may have seen this one before)
Picture 2
They’re all from the same branch!
Sorry about the parental stress, taxi. Seems like an awful lot of work to go to just to lay a guilt trip on you, but…is that what they’re doing? I’m really grateful to have a brother to share Mom worries with. She’s far far away (in Mexico), so we have to rely on other family to be the first ones there if something happens. I’m thinking you’ll be relying on the community where they’ll be living to be the “first responders.” Is everything absolutely finalized with their plans? Have you told them how this makes you feel and how you were imagining that you’d be able to visit each other and still do things together even though you’ll be living farther away? I’ll keep flinging positive thoughts in your direction. Oh, and here’s some more chocolate. I can go get you some ice cream too, if you like.
Hee, hee, I’m competing with Mika with the pictures. Well, not really, her post just reminded me that I’d meant to post these before. I looked through pics last week and found that I had some pictures of when it snowed while my crabapple trees were blooming last year. There’s one from this year as a comparison. Just thought they were pretty. (Haven’t seen your pics yet, Mika. The connection to Photobucket keeps timing out.)
Coworker story made me mad. What was she thinking? You’ll be fine as long as you keep an eye out for future backstab attempts and keep your relationship with your boss strong.
Oh, and the phone thing sounds bizarre. Why do they care if you’re getting your wrok done…?
Geez there’s lots of activity in here today. And swampy’s not even around.
I was just thinking that I haven’t seen Ashes in here lately. Hope she knows it’s membership expiration week and has re-upped. (Still sad that scout isn’t sticking around.)
Hi Bumba. I think you need to lend Mika your cane for a moment.
License tags here in Ohio are pretty cheap. I think I paid $76 last year for two years. I think they have a flat rate for cars and a different one for trucks.
Sean - Here’s a one-use coupon allowing you to blame typos on your keyboard. ::slides coupon through CD drive::
Hi Rebo! Hope the tests looked good. Let us know how everythng’s going.
Hope all the Cherries are on the mend.
I spent my entire day in meetings (or that’s what it felt like). Got a fair amount of work done in them and did some follow-up e-mails to get open issues resolved, but still have lots of stuff to do…
I’m sure there’s more, but it seems that I have a novel already… Hi to anyone I missed…
It’s almost Friday!!! Yay!!! :: Does happy dance ::

OK. Got most of the kitchen cabinets cleaned out, except for the stuff we use every day–that can wait. Still have to do pantry cupboard (just food).
Got the porch regrouted, (nice man), and cleaned (the tile) and sample area sealed–will check that area prior to work in AM to see if it discolors (all of you, please send non-discoloring vibes my way).
Organized the kitchen shit that I moved into the basement, so that I know where it is down there.
Plan is for me to seal tile on Saturday AM, get my son to the train also, stop at MILs for stoopit Bday thingy (never mind), and then do yard work, IF it doesn’t rain.
Sunday I take the kids to see…Spamalot! I am soooo psyched! Envy me.
Off to read Narnia book to #2 son. Almost decided to NOT get him the HP chess set. The bidding got fierce. I am almost afraid of ebay–I am no gambler, but an auction? I could feel myself just wanting to up and up my bid. Scarey!
Hope everyone has a nice Friday. I’ll be at work–boo, hiss.
It is Friday, but it’s still Thursday for me because I haven’t gone to bed yet. I’m at Lazy Husband’s, and he and Mr. Lissar are playing computer games behind me right now. I just wanted to wish everyone a happy belated Cheese on Toast Day. The 27th was melted cheese on toast day in England. That’s almost up there with Talk Like A Pirate Day.
Gosh…and maybe I’ll belatedly have Cheese on Toast for breakfast in celebration of that important holiday. Or maybe it’ll be in celebration of Dot’s birthday…
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SurrenderDorothy!!!
Have a really fun day.
GT
and since I lazy and running late, I’ll just grab a little
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SurrenderDorothy!!!
heck, someone copied mine once…
