The Celebrity Death Pool 2007

42 points for whoever had him.

Brett Somers age 83.

I can’t remember if I had him on this year’s list or if I had him on my short list for next year. I have lost both lists.

I guess that means I can start reading the series now that it’s finally pseudo-finished. At least until his notes/summaries/marginal scrawlings are massaged into another book.

It turns out that he’s the only person on my list that’s died this year.

Here’s an article with some information on the woman known for her appearances on Match Game and for being both the real-life wife and on-screen ex-spouse of Jack (Oscar Madison) Klugman.

Calvin Rampton, Utah’s only three-term governor, has died at 93.

Scratch one off my 2008 list.

OTOH, BB King is alive and well, and celebrated his 82nd birthday yesterday.

ETA: Bolding added to make sure people don’t go “What? BB King is dead?”

Musharraf’s days may be numbered…

Bewitched’s Alice Ghostley (Esmeralda) has died, aged 81. I would have sworn she was both older and already dead.

me too!

Thirded. The same link also says televangelist Rex Humbard is dead at 88.

Once you are dead, you don’t get any older

I was wondering where the obits got “Esmerelda” from, because that was Agnes Moorehead. NOW I realize that I was thinking of “Endora”! :smack:
I was thinking Alice Ghostly played Gladys Kravitz, but I think the actress who
played her did die years ago.

The woman who played Gladys was Alice Pearce
I thought Esmerelda was Imogene Coca

Esmerelda was the housekeeper witch whose witchcraft was always a bit “off” - watch out for her magic, in other words. She’d also become invisible if she was frightened/shied by someone (usually Darren) or when someone hollared at her (again, usually Darren!).

She also played Bernice on “Designing Women,” the older women who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind - the complete opposite of Esmerelda.

you are correct
Agnes Moorhead’s character’s name was Endora - Samatha’s mother

eta:
Alice Ghostly did play Esmerelda in the later episodes, circa early 70’s
[del] because Alice Pearce had since shuffled off this mortal coil[/del]
I’m checking again

ok - according to IMDB, Alice Ghostly was the only Esmerelda
Imogene Coco played Mary, the Good Fairy

Former Lord Privy Seal/Secretary of State for Defence Ian Gilmour is dead at 81

Anyone have Marcel Marceau?

(Wonder what his last words were.)
