Why don’t we all just take 20 points and choose someone other than Castro?

Finally, after much deliberation and in consultation with my 24 yo daughter, here are my picks for the Celebrity Death Pool 2007:

  1. Tammy Faye Bakker Messner
  2. Former President Gerald Ford
  3. Luciano Pavarotti
  4. Eunice Kennedy Shriver
  5. James Arness
  6. Farrah Fawcett
  7. Pamela Anderson
  8. Joey Bishop (last of the Rat Pack …)
  9. Nicole Richie
  10. Kevin Federline – tragic accident in the “squared circle”
  11. Fidel Castro
  12. Anna Nicole Smith, and last but not least …
  13. Peter Graves

Alternates: Joan Kennedy, Mary Kate Olsen, Nancy Reagan

I should note that the first five are hold-overs from last year’s list - some are even two-year hold-overs. Farrah has what might be colorectal cancer. Pamela Anderson has hepatitis that is going to end her life early. Joey, as noted, is (I think) the last of the old Rat Pack. Nicole Richie - do I really need to point out how anorexic she is? Kevin Federline is one of my daughter’s contributions - she thinks he’ll have a tragic accident in the wrestling ring. Fidel, I think, has cancer and it’s bad. Anna Nicole has had tragedy and stress, and Peter Graves I added in a perverse twist as he is the brother of James Arness.

The alternates are, of course, just in case someone on the list croaks before the end of the year, but I think they’re probably fairly solid picks for 2007.

Well, now they can all be pretty much assured of making it to 2008!

Man, you are truly making some serious negative waves.
May I submit a list of folks for you to mediatate on?

In no particular order (I started out by recycling part of last year’s list…):

  1. Billy Graham
  2. Keith Richards
  3. Jimmy Carter
  4. Zsa Zsa Gabor
  5. Terry Jones
  6. Jesse Helms
  7. Lindsay Lohan
  8. Ariel Sharon
  9. Gerald Ford
  10. Farrah Fawcett
  11. Bob Barker
  12. Tammy Faye Bakker Messner
  13. Fred Phelps

If I’ve kept track correctly we now have 72 lists posted. Of the top 13 selected so far, Fidel Castro leads with 39 selections, just edging out Gerald Ford, who has 36.
Keith Richards has moved into the top 13, finishing it out at 10 selections, in a three way tie with Margaret Thatcher and Dick Clark.

It will be interesting to keep track of how the most popular choices actually fair in the final outcome. I am betting we as a group are terrible at guessing who shuffles off the mortal coil each year.

Well, one person in the 2006 thread seems to have been dead-on-balls accurate (to quote Marisa Tomei in “My Cousin Vinny”)

Baker, sweetie, I cannot believe you are actually keeping track of this. How morbid! How sick! How, well, just weird!

Sigh, if it weren’t for the gay thing on my part I think I’d start stalking you.

  1. Fidel Castro
  2. Lindsay Lohan
  3. Prince Charles
  4. Stephen Hawking
  5. Kurt Vonnegut
  6. Mickey Rooney
  7. Jerry Lewis
  8. Casey Kasem
  9. Vic Damone
  10. Suzanne Pleshette
  11. Tom Poston
  12. Pete Doherty
  13. Bobby Brown

A1 Elizabeth Taylor
A2 Nancy Reagan

These are my picks.

  1. Liza Minelli
  2. Farrah Fawcett
  3. Annette Funicello
  4. Charles Durning
  5. Chubby Checker
  6. Robert Blake
  7. Joey Bishop
  8. Keith Richards
  9. Diana Ross
  10. Stan Musial
  11. Cloris Leachman
  12. Zsa Zsa Gabor
  13. Tom Bosley

alternates
Sally Field
Chuck Berry
Jerry Lewis

I’m imaging Keith Richards in a three way with Margaret Thatcher and Dick Clark…Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

Depends how specifically you define the term. Bishop is the last survivor of the five-man core, but of the “female participants”, Shirley MacLaine and Lauren Bacall are still around, as is “mascot” Angie Dickinson.

It gets more bizarre.

With the latest two lists, Keith has moved ahead of Thatcher and Clark, and is now in a tie with Dick Cheney.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! Make it stop!!! Bleach! I need bleach! Geez Annie!

Haha…thanks for the suggestion, CP! It’s a good idea, actually. It is kind of morbid to be pondering on the demise of these people, I do admit to that. BUT…as I noted in the last paragraph, since they’re on my list and I’ve only had one person in the last three years (Pope John Paul II, no less!), that pretty much assures that they will make it to 2008.

  1. Tom Petty
  2. Andy Griffith
    3.Carol Channing
    4.Rob Reiner
    5.Pat Buchanan
  3. Ron Santo
    7.Rip Torn
  4. Phyllis Diller
    9.Farrah Fawcett
    10.Bob Barker
    11.Jerry Stiller
    12.Bob Newhart
  5. Kenan Thompson

Now that I’ve added my picks, I’ve assured that they will all escape the grim reaper for another year
