Mine too, but I’m concerned her hair might clog the drain before any of my others can flow out.
Count Tom Braden in my “I thought he died years ago!” column. I was a devoted watcher of Crossfire when he was on- altho I was cheering for Buchanan/Dornan/ Thomas & grudgingly siding with Novak most of the time (I never cared for Novak).
I did always think Tom was the best of the liberals, tho Michael Kinsley made a good effort.
Btw, is Bob Novak on anyone’s list here?
I actually visited this list to mention two deaths that I’m sure weren’t on anyone’s list but were celebrities within their circles-
Howard Menger, age 87, AFAIK the last survivor of the Flying Saucer “Space Brother” contactees of the 1950s.
Atlanta charismatic bishop Earl Paul, 81 of cancer- in his favor he was a pioneer in race relations, to his discredit he also was an apparent sexual predator. And so it goes…

Btw, that was Paulk, not Paul.
32 people have Farrah Fawcett on their list.
Yup, I got Novak too. I have a lot of drain circlers.
18 people have Novak, including me.
And I got Patrick Swayze and Ted Kennedy. This could be a great year for me.
Cycling champion Jobie Dajka found dead in Adelaide, aged 27.
I know, I know. Who? I’ve never heard of him either. But the paper seems to think this is a big deal, so presumably people who care about that stuff know who he is.
Dave Arneson, co-creator of Dungeons and Dragons is in the hospital and isn’t expected to survive. [Sad News] Co-Creator of D&D Dave Arneson Passed Away at Age 61 | Tabletop Roleplaying Open | RPGnet Forums
He can’t roll for some kind of energy points? Bummer.
About to fail a critical save…
Shamelessly stolen from a post when Gygax died…
There were earlier incorrect reports that Dave Arneson had passed, but now it is true.
Brian
Marvin Webster, the basketball center known as the “Human Eraser” for his ability to block shots, has died at the age of 56. Webster led the Morgan State Bears to the 1974 NCAA Division II championship before a pro career highlighted by his performance in the 1978 playoffs. During that run, Webster led his Seattle SuperSonics to the NBA finals, only to have the Washington Bullets win the decisive seventh game.
TMZ is reporting that Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Nick Adenhart , age 22, was killed in a hit-and-run car accident in Fullerton, California early this morning.
I was just coming in to post this- he pitched 6 shut-out innings last night, before the bullpen collapsed and lost the game for him. In an interview last night, he said that yeah, it sucked, but that he felt good about his performance.
Adenhart was a former 1st round draft pick who was at one time considered the top prospect in the minors. he ran into some trouble but got another shot with the Angels due to the injuries to Lackey and Santana.
This kid was the real deal- he was a hell of a good pitcher. ![]()
Phillies announcer Harry Kalasdied at age 73. He collapsed right before a game and was pronounced dead a short time later. I have never been a Philly fan but he was with out a doubt one of the best voices and announcing talent of all time. I will always think of his voice as the voice of the NFL due to his work with NFL Films.
To swipe HelloNinja’s thread: Marilyn Chambers found dead at 56.
Trying to corner the necrophilia market. Interesting business move. “Behind the Casket Lid” due for release in late 2009.
Former baseball pitcher Mark Fidrych has died.
We need one more from Major League Baseball to hit for the cycle.
