Anyone else watch this? Decent show, makes me laugh some.
But I have been watching, and maybe I just missed an ep., but what happened to the news lady? She was in the opening picture credits one week, then the next, just gone.
What I miss?

I find it to be just another atempt to make a Friends type show with less dynamic characters.
I watch it and like it. I’m glad the news lady has been greatly downplayed if not totally written out. She was annoying, what with her kid named “Oprah” and her oblivious attraction to gay men.
It’s not really Friends-like. It’s got its own vibe. I’m liking the red-headed guy; he’s a good comic actor. He’s the draw for me (and the carpenter guy is kinda eye-candy). Yes, I am bad at remembering character’s names.
The news lady was written out of the series. Although, interestingly, her closeted gay husband is still on the show.
We like this show a lot. It’s not as good as How I Met Your Mother or Two and a Half Men, but then that’s why it has the half-past starting time. Now if they could just lose that terrible New Adventures of Old Christine, and replace it with something at least as good as The Class, they’d have a solid night of television.
I like it enough to watch each week. I don’t miss the newswoman, she didn’t add to the show. I’m not convinced it has legs and I guess I won’t miss it when it goes, but while it is on I’ll watch it. I dunno why I’m attracted to Kat, I normally don’t like women who are that dark, but she makes me laugh. It looks like they have phased out the Kyle’s boyfriend too.
In that case you may not be happy to hear it, but I think I read in the newspaper’s television column that The Class had been cancelled and The New Adventures of Old Christine will return in the same time slot.
Oh, and there was no farewell moment for her. Richie’s evil ex-wife demands to knwo the name of his lover so she can stalk her and kill her, and he drops her name instead. However, Perry (the gay husband) has several phone conversations with her on the Valentine’s day show, so she’s clearly not dead yet.
The story is that the producers reduced her role (I thought her whole storyline was way far afield of what was going on in the rest of the show anyway), and the actress, Lucy Punch, decided to quit instead.
I can’t find anything mroe definite than a bbunch of speculation that the ratings were not satisfactory. But it wona People’s Choice Award, so I guess we’ll find out in May.
She makes my pants go crazy.
I enjoy this show very much. I find it well written, and I really enjoy all the quick, snappy banter. It doesn’t feel too pushed, or too “going for a laugh”. I’ve enjoyed the characters, and all of the interactions - they’ve been very believable to me.
It’s too bad they appear to be killing off Yonk though. He really was one of the funniest parts of the show.
We watch the show regularly (it comes on after “Corner Gas” here, and we never miss that show). “The Class” never met a cliché it didn’t like, but in spite of that, it frequently makes me laugh out loud. And a big part of that is Richie, the funny-looking redheaded guy. It doesn’t seem to matter what he says - it makes me laugh. I was afraid they were going to have everybody happily paired off after this episode, but no, not so much.
I watch because there’s nothing else on at that time. I can’t stand how forced it is, and how manic the delivery is. But obviously I must not hate it that much. :smack:
They can’t kill him off because that would make the affair too easy. You need drama and tension and all that stuff even in comedies.
Jason Ritter was on a local LA morning show yesterday hyping the finale of the show. The anchors kept referring to it as the series finale. Ritter would get this look on his face like “Waaaiiitttt… don’t they mean ‘season’? Am I out of the loop?” He never said “series” finale just season finale. And then after they showed a clip from the episode, the anchors all said “Wow, it’s like watching your father!” He again got this look on his face like “WTF. There was nothing of my dad in that scene.”
It surprises me how little he usually looks like his father, and then every so often, he looks just like his dad. Of course, if he’s going to get bent out of shape by being compared to his dad, he’s going to live his life as a pretzel.
Wait, which one is he? And is his father Jack Ritter?
He’s the doctor character and his dad is John
He was also the brother in the wheelchair if you watched Joan of Arcadia.
