The cold Monday morning MMP

After two months of being sober, I fell off the wagon last night. :frowning: :frowning:

It was actually quite innocent though. I was at a party in the local bar with friends, and I was drinking water out of the same kind of glass that my friends were drinking beer out of. I accidentally grabbed the wrong glass and had a sip of beer. Oh well, at least I didn’t get hammered, I suppose.

I got a picture of myself with my conductor. I’ll probably upload it somewhere soon.

We made the executive decision to go deheathenate with the Lutherans. Thus, all deheathenated and at da cave. Oven is pre-heatin’ and when it gets up to the right temp I shall shove the scalloped N.O.T. in to do their thing. Beans are also cookin’ as I post. I foresee N.O.L. around eleven-thirtyish. Half an hour for the N.O.T. and fifteen minutes for the rolls should do it. I believe a Bloody Mary might even be in order pre-N.O.L.

OYKW will head to his place to do laundry and such after we eat. I might even get the rest of the shirts ironed. I shouldn’t let ironin’ pile up for three weeks, but I did.

Ok, oven went beepbeepbeep. Time to slide the N.O.T. in.

Laterz!

Happy Birthday, **Nuts! ** I hope you’re having a pleasant day.

Sticky, you really need to see a doc. Now. Vision is nothing to mess around with.

It was rather stormy around here last night. Two sections of my fence blew down, and upon inspection this morning, I can see why. It seems one the fence posts has rotted and it snapped at the ground. So, what I thought would be a relatively simple fix, has now become more complicated. My soil is really, really, really rocky. I will have to rent an auger. Worse, since I now have to set a fence post, this has turned into a two day project. Finally, it’s supposed to rain and be stormy today as well.

blurf

Bacon?

Happy Nuts Day!

I still have Teh Sick, still all blurfy and generally not feeling my usual perky self. So this weekend has largely been spent doing a lot of nothing. Well, that’s not strictly true, yesterday I did errands but without much enthusiasm. Today I have done laundry, ironing and a bit of vacuuming except I found that the Dyson has a hole in one of the pipes so it’s mostly doing very little good at all. Time for a new one, I think, this one is quite old and it’s barely worth the cost of getting it serviced and fixed.

The interior doors were delivered yesterday, they have been chemically stripped of all the paint and varnish…and they do look rather good. They will need a bit of work before they can be put back again, but it’s all progress.

I am going to have a nice soaky bath now, and the probably spend the evening on the sofa contemplating, since I only have one week left in my job, it’s time to think about what to do next. I hates job applications, I does.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, luckily I put my shades on before opening the thread

We have actual sun, and no wind today! It’s almost like spring!

I did have to spend the morning in a room, being ‘Trained’ in the form of being droned at (including basic first aid, by a guy who kept mixing ‘fibrillation’ and ‘defibrillation’ twitch), but at least that’s done now, and I can get on with the celebratin’.

Happy sunday everyone!

Cake is just about done. I use crushed pineapple instead of rings and I arranged the cherries so I can cut the sheet cake into 24 squares. They’ll be small servings, but that way if someone just wants a little bit, it’s perfect, and there’s plenty for those who’d want more.

I used my old standby pudding-and-cake-mix recipe with minor variations - instead of all milk, I used the drained off pineapple juice, with just enough milk to make 1 cup, and instead of oil, I used applesauce - it makes the cake moist without the extra calories. It should be yummy!

Of course, I’ll have to protect the cake till tomorrow - that’s no small task!!

Just called my mom - her drive was plowed by last night. She lives on about 7 acres tucked in the corner of their neighborhood, and her driveway is quite long and winding. She and her neighbor in the back share the cost of the common area, then each covers their own spur, so it works out well. Anyway, Mom can come and go as long as she drives carefully, so that’s good.

*mmmmmmm *- it smells cake-y here!!

Less than 24 hours to The Big Divorce. I’s gettin’ excited…

N.O.L. is et. OYKW has headed to his place and kitchen is clean. Now to finish shirt ironin’. Domesticity. It ain’t what it’s cracked up to be.

BooFae feel better soonest!

BBBobbio happy gall bladder divorce! Be sure to post durin’ surgery to let us know how it’s goin’. You’d be in the runnin’ for most TMI post of the year. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sigh. Ironin’ awaits.

Those of you who have friended me on FB can see what just came out of my oven. The rest of you lose out by not being my friend. :stuck_out_tongue:

Pictures or it didn’t happen!

Deheathenating didn’t happen today (DH has a really bad cough, I had insomnia problems, and the car’s getting temperamental). Laundry is at halfway point, taxes are done and California thinks they’re filed. The IRS grumped about where I typed a number, so rejected that return. Fixed, re-submitted.

How do cars and such know when money is coming in so they know when to have problems that are likely to eat up said money?

FINALLY got the IRS to accept my return, on attempt #3 (two errors relating to where I put info).

Nettie yay for taxes bein’ done! Boo for vehicle trouble!

Ok, I has ahrned. All the shirts are done and iron and ironin’ board are back where they live when not in use. YAY!

Now I have to go over to facebook and look at cake.

I saw the photo, Moooom.

Here’s a pictureof me with my orchestra conductor. We’re such good-looking people, aren’t we. :stuck_out_tongue: We wanted to make funny faces in the picture, and we somehow both ended up making the same face!

Good gad.

And I’m still facing laundry. Ugh.

More evidence that the weather is broken. The whole region was snowed in and shut down on Thursday. 48 hours later, there’s an ice cream van on my street. If they don’t shut down that awful music loop soon, I’m going to throw things at them.

Guess they read my thoughts as they’re leaving now.

Funny how that happens. A week after we got our refund, we needed 4 tires on the car. Yeah, we needed them - 50K on original tires is pretty good and with **FCD **on his way back to Ocala, he should have decent tires. But still… On the other hand, at least we had a refund. If we’d had to pay AND put on new tires, it would have sucked mightily!

Early supper since we didn’t have lunch - pasta parmesan with shrimps and peas. It was good. Now we’s stuffded and dishes are done.

I did 4 towels, and I’ve made a new stencil - the pic isn’t all that great, but I think it conveys the idea. I’ll do 4 crab towels tomorrow, and I’ll be able to deliver them all on Firday. I can’t believe how popular these are - they sell them for $8 each!! I don’t get that much, but I still get about 8X what it costs me to make them, not counting my time.

The weekend is winding down, dammit. Back to work tomorrow. Actually, I’m glad to be going back - I’ve got to do some changes and I hope I remember them all. I should probably also clean my desk - it’s becoming a bit of a disaster.
