Kinda funny, how being stingy with the help seems a trait with Minnesota Republicans.
When Norm! Coleman was the hot young up and dumber, amongst my son’s cronies the story circulated allegedly originating amongst kids who delivered pizzas to the Coleman home. Story has it that if Norm answered the door, he read the bill, paid the tab and waited for his change, even if it was, in fact, change. Stiff on tip. Close door.
Other guys reported the same thing, but said they would hear a “hisss”, look over and see Mrs. Coleman peering around the corner of the house holding out a $5, then ducking around the back.
The source of this story is questionable and its veracity unreliable and I believe every word. So far as is known, Norm Coleman is the only person in the world that Garrison Keillor actually hates.
Do Republicans in other fiefs have the same oddly stingy reputation?
I don’t believe she herself is, but her campaign is. Though I don’t want to give her the benefit of the doubt, lots of times the candidate does not know what is going on in his/her own campaign.
That’s the thing, that area of the state is notoriously conservative, even if Cambridge is no longer part of her district. All she has to do is keep up beating the Jesus drum, throw in a dash of racism (not too overt, mind you) and she’ll keep getting a good chunk of that district to vote for her regardless of the insanity factor.
There was a hilarious clip on The Daily Show this week of some CNN journo actually doing her job and asking Bachmann tough questions about a self-published, totally uncited book she quoted at CPAC.
Just to make y’all’s day: Sarah Palin is making noises about running in 2014, probably for Mark Begich’s (D-Alaska) seat. And I thought there wouldn’t be any fun until 2016.
She’s deluded enough to think that the enthusiastic crowd at CPAC translates to equal popularity in Alaska. A run by Palin would bring the Independents out of the woodwork, along with registered Dems and centrist Republicans. I think she’d get creamed, even though the uber-right up there hates Begich.
Note: while Palin’s eyes share many characteristics with Bachman (e.g. vindictiveness, maliciousness, duplicitousness, evilness, etc.), she does not have “crazy” eyes.
I hate to say this for fear of sounding sexist, but in addition to her not being a “rising star” any more, Sarah’s isn’t as young and cute as she used to be. Seriously: I think a lot of her support, or at least interest in her came from those Alaskan good ol’ boys who liked the whole “hot librarian” thing. She’s yesterday’s news now. I wonder how many of her Alaskan fans have picked up on the ridicule she receives outside of Alaska (or outside the Tea Party) and have decided she isn’t worth it any more.
