She’s not running in 2014 (YouTube video, plays on opening). Well, actually she only says she’s not running to represent the 6th district, and that 8 years is long enough to represent “a specific congressional district.” And then she rattles off a prescription drug ad-style list of disclaimers about her decision, and why it wasn’t related to her chance of victory. etc.
Had two thoughts on seeing that this morning.
- She has 18 months to change her mind and probably will.
- What scandal is about to break?

Nah. She’s cashing in on her Tea Party cred and going to Fox News for zillions of dollars. Then she’ll go back to the House in a couple of years when everyone is sick of her.
My guess is the FEC investigations found some meat.
When I first saw the headline on my Facebook feed I thought it was an Onion article… it was just too good to be true. When I found out it was for real, well, lets just say I’m having the best Wednesday ever!!!
I also think that all that money to be made in the looney toon talk and TV circuit was too good to pass out.
With such great examples as Demint becoming the president of the Heritage Foundation and making a mint, showing that it does not matter if one then lobes hand grenades that even backfire on the looney toons. Your better paid (and more secure) job makes it a win-win for the former congrescritters.
Okay, so she’s not running. It’s only a matter of time before the Tea Party finds yet another 'toon character to run.
Maybe she’ll take a crack at Senator Al Franken whose term expires the end of 2014. That would make for a national news.
It would be a fun campaign to watch.

I’m gonna predict that she’s NOT going to wind up as a Fox talking head. They seem to have been trying to put a little space between themselves and the lunatic fringe right since the elections. Just a few inches, mind you, but still …
I’m gonna agree with the upthread idea that there’s some scandal involving Marcus about to break, or that she struck a deal to quit to keep the scandal under wraps.
Oh man, that’s a dream election campaign for me. Except it will be a little sad in one sense – Franken would demolish her time after time and she wouldn’t even get it.
Still, in US elections, you have to take your fun where you can find it.
