I have a friend in Stillwater who was on the local School Board with her. She was lobbying hard for Intelligent Design as a subject matter.
Forget it, Jake. It’s Stillwater…
They say it runs deep.
When I am home in two weeks I have to register to vote again. I think I will sign up as a Republican. They have more fun in the primaries.
Bachmann proves that it actually runs creeps.

From our good friends at ThinkProgress:
Apparently, Ms Bachmann was trying to send a shout out to John Wayne fans by pointing out that he was born where she was, Waterloo, Iowa. Problem: John Wayne, the movie star, was not born there. John Wayne Gacy, evil clown and child killer, was.
Oopsy-daisy!
John Wayne was an abortionist too?

And to show that she practices what she preaches, the news yesterday noted that she is a part owner of (or at least declared $100K of income from) a farm that got federal agriculture subsidies. She is trying to deny having any part of the farm. The truly amusing thing is that nothing I could see about this was the slightest bit illegal or even unethical.
It is kind of like the Southern governors loudly rejecting the stimulus money while making sure other parts of their state government got their fair share. Hypocrites.
Oh I love it. Go ahead, bite the hand that feeds you!
Bachmann was asked “Are you a flake?” by a FOX NEWS reporter. Instead of handling it gracefully and saying no, she was insulted. The guy offered her an apology and she refused to accept it.
Geez, grow some tolerance for the questions there, crazy lady. You’re going to be asked this question A LOT in the coming months, and people are going to call you far worse than anything we’ve said in this thread. If you can’t take the heat, if you can’t learn to address the flack gracefully, then you have no business running for office.
I can see the confusion
John Wayne was born in Winterset Iowa
John Wayne Gacy was born in Chicago.
You’d think she might have ran her speech by someone from Iowa before reading it to the residents there. I mean I’d understand someone from outside the state not knowing the difference, but I think if you asked anyone who lived in Iowa they could point out the difference
Gacy simply being born there would be something the residents could simply brush off as an oddity.
He moved there became part of the community then started molesting teenage boys till he was caught. Many of the people living in Waterloo knew him personally, something they’d really like to forget. The mention of the name John Wayne Gacy in Waterloo brings about a good deal of shame. I’m sure the people would love to thank Ms Bachmann for rubbing more salt in the wound.
Fact Checking is not high on her list of priorities.
Even worse than being a child killer - Gacy was a Democrat.
Thank you Minnesota for blessing us with her position in the US Government.
I did not know that Gacy killed evil clowns.
They were competition.
You don’t want to know what he did to evil mimes.
Yes, yes I do.
I still have mixed feelings about Gacy because I worked nights at the Greyhound terminal when he cruised it. On the one hand, he didn’t kill me. On the other hand, I was AT LEAST as cute as those guys he did kill, so it was insulting he didn’t try. On the other hand, I’d’ve been on my break when he asked guys for help and, as a union man, there was no way I was lifting anything into somebody’s van while I was on break, especially because, as a private contractor, he probably didn’t hire union labor if he didn’t have to.
My wife says I looked too strong for him to overpower. She knew me then, so I think she’s humoring me.
I suspect it was more along the lines of you’d have been missed immediately if you’d disappeared while on break.
Plus, you’re not an evil mime.
Right?
