And he’s running again!
Just got an email from his campaign, asking for an early donation to start the campaign. He does point out that he came within 3 points of beating her, which is the closest anyone has ever come. (And probably would have won, if not for the Independence Party spoiler candidate.)
Yes, what’s the connection between her and this site? Her name doesn’t appear anywhere.
And now he’s dropped out of the campaign. There are 2 others, strong DFL women candidates running, and he has stated that he does not want to see the next 13 months be a battle among Democrats trying to defeat each other rather than defeat Michele Bachman.
Sorry, see here. Bachmann blocked, citing lack of a quorum present, a routine House resolution honoring Hawaii’s 50th anniversary of statehood – the kicker being that the resolution mentions that Obama was born there. She voted for it in the end, however.
How does passing a resolution without a quorum “flush out any Obama “birther” conspiracy theorists in Congress”?
How does the house pass a resolution without a quorum? Why was Bachmann’s objection invalid if there wasn’t a quorum?
Most such resolutions are fairly minor, non-controversial items honoring a person from some state, or some organization, etc. They are usually done at the opening of the session.
Generally, a quorum is present, but most Congresspersons are working in their offices nearby, and are not actually on the floor. Because they all know that the opening items at a session are mainly ceremonial and non-controversial. By the rules, there is a quorum until someone questions it, and a count is taken.
Her objection wasn’t so much “invalid” as inappropriate and rather rude to the other members. A quorum of members is almost never present on the floor during these ceremonial opening items; they all know that and accept it. By raising the questions, Bachman is forcing them all to interrupt the work they are doing in their offices and rush onto the floor to be counted, all for the sake of a minor resolution. That’s annoying to the other members, and a flouting of House tradition. It is valid under the House Rules. But it’s making nit-picky use of the rules to delay the process in the House.
All right, which brings me back to my first question. If Bachman had sat there and shut up and the resolution passed on a voice vote, then every Republican in the house would be able to say, “Naw, I wasn’t there when they passed that thing.”
I assume the resolution still passed with a voice vote. No Republicans on record?
Given Baccy’s procedural maneuver, is it likely (or possible) that the measure will go to the full floor? Could her shenanigans prompt an on-the-record vote?
“As a parent, I would have a very, very difficult time seeing my children do this.”
And if you ever do see this thread Harrison, I’m sure you’re hating on me. I know I would in your shoes. Still, best of luck kid.
Well this is interesting.
Apparently, Michelle Bachman (R - Batshit Crazy) is pro-choice.
Well, since her son signed up for an AmeriCorps teaching program, she wants to abort him.
Bachmann thinks that health care reform will force all doctors to give abortions. And that the good citizens of this country should pray and fast to stop reform.
I say go for it. Just make sure you have insurance before you start the fasting. In case you get sick or something.
Some people on another board I post to think that the H1N1 vaccination will be the method Obama uses in his nefarious plot with the WHO and the UN to microchip all of us. They’re planning to avoid it at all costs. So, we’ll have the base of the Republican party heading into the flu season hungry, tired, and unvaccinated and without health insurance. Maybe it is all an evil, evil plan.
Shhhh. Ixnay on the anplay.
Let’s not discourage them from fasting. I would urge them to fast for at least 6 months. Fast like the wind, people.
Well, its been five whole days now, so she’s long overdue. Well, looky here!

I swear, I am not making this up! Maybe *Think Progress *is, but they got links, cites and stuff…
I would not be so presumptuous as to stand in the way of Michelle Bachmann if she chooses to slit her wrists. It is, after all, her right as an American.
She’s going to make an awful mess on the Senate floor, though.
Still, with proper planning, an act of seppuku might be accompished in a dignified and orderly fashion. Though the actual hammering of the stake might best be discreetly done out of sight of television cameras.
It’s a shame she’s opposed to public health care. I guess all there is for her now is a sack and a shovelful of quicklime.
Or should we wait until she’s dead first?
Are you kidding? C-SPAN’s ratings would skyrocket!
