The Contents Of My Pantry... The MMP

They actually have the very same one in New York, or at least they did when my mom and I went there in July. Much closer to home. If you plot the heist, I’ll take part.

Well, anyflower is better than a rose is a rose is a…, isn’t it?

I figure the cable offer probably got a 6-month or one-year hook; I didn’t ask earlier, but that’s #1 on our list of questions to ask when (if) she calls back. So we shall see.

And I’m right off the Chesapeake – just off the mouth of the South River, actually – up the road a bit from FCM. This is such a pretty area; I love seeing all the water and the boats everywhere we go.

Count me in the Johnny Depp figure rotation, too! …drool…

You get no argument from me on that! It’s even better seen from the deck of a boat! The Chesapeake is wonderful!!!

Well, **FCD ** is no longer a motorcycle owner. He’s a bit bummed, but I’m relieved. He’s a very good rider, but fercryinoutloud, he’s had 2 spinal surgeries!!!

I want ice cream. And I’m off to unload the dryer and fold underwear. Such is my life.

<sigh>

Thanks everyone for hugs, prayers, etc. It helps a lot to be able to talk about it.

rosei I call mine lupus+, because I have so many other syndromes and conditions along with it. The disease with a thousand faces, ya know? I understand exactly everything you said. My mom has sle too, she was pretty sick in the 60’s and 70’s, then went into remission, but it’s involved her liver now. She’s still running around as usual, but like us, she has to conserve energy, and at times take time off. Don’t you just hate it when you have been avoiding the sun like crazy, and then someone comes up and tells you how pink your cheeks are, you must have been out in the sun! And when I do get any sun, even just while travelling in the car I get the oh-so-lovely spotty sores on my face. I also have a lot of arthritis, osteo and rheumatoid, FM, plus a really messed up back, knees, hips, and carpal tunnel. I have had to move from scooters to the Chair of Doom if I am going to be out and about. VB I get the impression that your wife is in a similar condition? It’s amazing how many co-lupies one finds after being dx’d! I appreciate understanding, I loathe pity.

I am foggy headed today, (as if that was news!) Taters, get thee to a medic!

Oh, and btw, Johnny Depp is mine, all mine, muahahaha!!! (What a gorgeous human being!)

I need to get back to work, skiffman is home for the day, and we are clearing house. There are going to be many trips to the dumpster, and at least one pickup from the thrift store.

Again, I appreciate your support more than you’ll ever know. I only break down sometimes, and it helps to know that Steve is, and Ron will be, in a better place, and eventually the circle will be unbroken once again.*

*I just want to add a disclaimer that my God is a loving God, and just because any of you may not practice my brand of Christianity does in no way exclude or minimize your particular beliefs. I believe that God is bigger than that kind of thing.

I just got this from a friend - I had to share

I am officially an old guy. I had a someone call with a telephone survey:
Caller: What is your favorite radio station?
me: 850AM.
Caller: Are you over or under 30?
Me: Over.
Caller: Thank you, and have a good day.
I wish I owned a lawn, you I could yell at kids to get off it.

Drae, cool pics. I like the expressions of the big cats in the zoo: “I’m so bored, I could eat you”

Puggy, I don’t think Johnny is fully functional. And wax melts.

MamaT, I cut my cable off, I couldn’t justify $40/month for something I don’t use.

I guess FCD is born to be mild now.

Kai, rosie, Taters, I hope things get better soon.

kai - it was explained to me that the arthritis, particularly the RA, is actually a sympton of the mixed connective tissue disorder, one variety of which is known as Crest syndrome, which I understand is actually an acronym, but for what I don’t know. The OA I did to myself by beng overwieght for so many years, but the RA isn’t really RA - it just acts like it. I’ve already had my hips replaced, the knees will likely be done in the spring, I’ve already had Carpal Tunnel Release in my right had, over 10 years ago, and may eventually fix the left hand, too, but that’s low on the list. I can’t take anti-inflammatories of any kind due to the increased potential for ulcers since the lap band installation (smaller surface-to-mass ratio thingy) so I live on pain pills and steroids. My life is such fun

Stoooopit dogs, and for once, it’s not mine.

I went for a short bike ride this evening (6 miles), and I was attacked by 2, count 'em, 2 big black mutts who jumped out of the cotton to come after me. Hell, I thought it was deer making the racket, until I saw them.

I didn’t get bit, but I was ready for the fight. I did out-snarl and out-stare them, but everytime I tried to ride away, they came after me again. I finally walked back to the nearest house, and the people there admitted they owned the dogs. I grumped at them nicely, said please and thank you, and left, the entire time muttering under my breath that when I ride next time that I’ll be armed and there will be some .38 caliber lead poisoning.

When I got home, I complained to the Sheriff’s dispatcher, too. I’m filled with grrrrrrrrrrrr!

More puns for Spats.

I had to go to CVS, and they had a stuffed cat that sang the “manamana” song when you pressed his foot. Now I have that stupid song in my head!

My mom has CREST. I believe it stands for Calcidosis, Reynaud’s (Syndrome), Esophogeal dysmotility, Scleroderma, and Telangiectasia. She has calcium deposits in her joints and I’ve seen her fingers look like they were made of snow, they were so white. I don’t THINK she’s exhibiting any of the other symptoms yet, but she’d rather swallow live mice than tell me when she’s not feeling well, and I don’t live with her now to be able to see for myself.

I must have it! must must must! Guess I’ll go to CVS after work tomorrow

I was at my Grandma’s house, with a huge, spooky attic that’s a perfect hangout for bats. They don’t usually come downstairs–I guess this one got lonely. I went to bed, and I kept hearing these weird clicky noises. Then I heard wings flapping, and I’m ridiculously optimistic, so I thought, it could be a bat, but it could be a bird (at 1 a.m., right). Of course it was a bat, and it bit me on the arm. I got all my shots, and I’m not foaming at the mouth or anything, so it’s all good. Swampy, I’ve been telling people I got bitten by Vampire Barbie. So I could be a vampire. I don’t think the rabies shots help with that. I probably shouldn’t go around biting people, just in case.

Cherry, I wasn’t smart enough to keep the bat to get it tested, and it was in an area with active rabies, so I had to get shots. A lot of human rabies cases come from bats. If you even wake up in a room with a bat, you’re supposed to get the shots, because it’s hard to tell if they’ve bitten you. I know someone who had to get rabies shots for her 1-year-old daughter because a bat got into the house. Poor kid. :frowning: (I’m not really sure I would have wanted to get the bat tested, because it would have to be killed, and I feel kinda bad about that. I’m such a softie). If you’re really interested, you can check out the CDC info on bats and rabies.

Lissla, I hope your knee is okay. It sucks to have to leave dance class early. Taters, anyrose, Drae, kaiwik and anyone else who’s not feeling well, or feeling down–I hope you feel all better soon!

MagicEyes - only your arm will turn into a vampire - you’ll know it’s happened when you wake up to find pages of handwritten prose by your bed . . .

Nah. Vampires write dark, gothic poetry about the sadness of the world and how Robert Smith needs to lose a few nowadays…

Glad you’re OK, Bobbio. Can’t believe people would let their dogs just run around like that. (Well I can, but it makes me crazy.)

Hope rosie and kai and VunderWife stay as non-achy as possible.

Sorry to hear about the delayed graduation, Alistair. Hope you can get the OK for dual enrollment.

I’m very sleepy, so I think I’ll crawl into bed…

What a bunch of chatty kathys!

Thanks for the support for me-I don’t often play in the Pit, because not only do people get mean and quick, I end losing my temper. i am more upset that I “yelled” obscenities at a poster than anything the poster had to say about me. (although that’s not real pleasant either…).

sorry for your loss, wiki. I believe (when I do believe) in a loving God as well.
Drae --somehow I missed your link! I wanna see pics. Could someone relink or tell me what page it’s on? Thanks.
I have Raynaud’s as well. My hands have often looked like wax replicas of hands. Feet too. I dont’ get it so much nowadays, but I have noticed that now that I’m losing weight, I can feel it starting (especially in my mouse hand). Best to all who put up with this crap. Auto-immune stuff can be quite a challenge to live with.
Off to bed. Daily Show is a rerun. I am bummed today. Work at the lib was hard in a weird way. I came home exhausted and did nothing. So, now I am behind in readings etc for grad school. Damn.

And then, I asked the prof online tonoc a specific question as to where I would find lit crit for my book for my final project (she had recommended several websites for other students)–and she said to do basic research. Hmph. I tried basic research–and got Norton Kansas instead of Norton Juster. Grrrrrr. Angrier than the average bear now.
night all.

Does anyone else try to play free trial games for insanely long amounts of time, or is that just me?
