Off to work, see you tonight.
Neat kitty pics, rosie. It’s hard to get Lucretia to look mellow without drugs
Well, we are back from our trip to visit FCM’s booth at the craft fair. It was a nice trip, a lovely day although a bit warm. She seemed to be doing quite well; had sold enough to cover her space rent by the time we arrived.
And for those who are wondering what the surprise was, I made her a quick and basic “Pottery Goddess” sign to hang from her canopy. I left it up to here whether to hang it or not; when I left, it was still in the envelope I’d given it to her in, for some strange reason.
I’ll let her post photos first – it’s not fair to scoop her on everything! But a good time was had by all. And for my free FCM Original™, I will take, as she so charmingly put it, a “leftover.” But everything looked really great in person – the colors might not be what she wanted, but they still looked very nice.
Kitty photos are cute!
Hey all…Busy yesterday, running all over the district at work, and then straight home to get mom, the Kid and run to the Sox game. I was up early to clean, mow, shop and get ready to have about 30-40 people over to say hi to mom.
Nice pics rosie, always good to see Smokey.
When I got Cuervo, I started taking pictures of him next to a bottle of his namesake . Here he is last week, with the same bottle .
Here’s his favorite place to keep an eye on things from .
And, to be fair, a picture of Good Boy Marty .
Ok, time to re-ice some beer and coolers and get ready for people to start showing up.
Everyone have a good weekend!
Home, showered, semi-sunburnt and exhausted. It was a long day, since we got there before 7:30 and didn’t leave till 3:30, but the weather was loverly, if a bit warm, and chances are, I’ll do another craft show some time.
That’s all ya get till Monday.
But I will say it was a pleasure meeting Mama Tiger and Papa Tiger and the pups. Sorry we couldn’t visit more, but then again, this wasn’t exactly a visiting venue. Incidentally, the Pottery Goddess sign will be hung in my studio - photo to follow!
Now I’ve got to forage for dinner. All I’ve eaten today was a sausage biscuit and 3 cookies. I’m starvin’ - poor, poor me! I’m thinkin’ pizza…
FCM pizza’s always a good choice. Especially if it’s followed by ice cream. I’m just tryin’ to make sure you have a balanced diet. I’m all noble like that.
I went out this afternoon with a couple friends to go to some antique stores in a little town near here. Antiquing ain’t my thing but I figured it’d do me good to get out and it was nice out today. Low 80’s and sunny, so I went. We ate a lateish lunch at a bbq place there that was pretty good. I’m home now and all settled in. I’m in my night shirt and sippin’ on a beerverage. I talked to ACBG a bit ago. The bbq will be happenin’ in about an hour. He’s had fun with his family. He’s coming home Monday afternoon. He always takes a four day weekend so he can spend time with family, and go to church with his mom on Sunday cause that makes her happy. He’s such a good son ain’t he? It’s starting to rain now. I hope it does all night. I loves to go to sleep hearing the pitter patter of rain.
I slacked a bit today. Mowed the yard, and picked up 7 gallons of fallen apples. Hauled 2 loads of junk to the dump, where I happened to find some trash pickers who were interested in all of my metal stuff. To make a long story short, I brought them back to my place, showed them what I have, and they’re coming Monday to clean out the derelicts of anything metallic, including the sheet roofing. That’s a very good thing.
I gave the old washer and dryer to the church last weekend, sort of. A lady at the yard sale wanted them, gave money to the church for them, and her son came today to haul them off. I had to do a bit of plumbing to put in decent connections for the other washer, and those worked fine, but the hoses leak at the connectors. I don’t think they seal properly when screwed on the taps. We’ll be going to the hardware store tomorrow for new taps and maybe feeder hoses.
Finished off the day by entertaining friends from Hampton, our first visitors since moving to Mayberry. They claimed to adore the VunderLair…
Gotta sleep now.
Glad the craft fair went well. I’m looking forward to all the details.
Can’t believe little Cuervo has gotten so big! Love the one where he’s perched upstairs.
Big news chez GT: the fridge appears to have passed on. Just went to the kitchen to get some chocolate pudding from the fridge and found that things seemed, well, not cold in the fridge, even though the light inside was on. Not sure how I failed to notice this earlier. Fortunately, I saw the fridge I want at Best Buy the other day. Should fit and not be terribly expensive. Now I’m just hoping for a convenient delivery time. Too bad trash day isn’t till Thursday. Fraid I’ll have quite a few contributions. At least I didn’t go to the grocery earlier today as planned. And I cleaned the fridge out quite a bit the other day. Should have quite a few things that can make it for a few days unrefrigerated, but some will definitely be lost. Oh well.
I’ve been hoping for the fridge to go for quite a while, can you tell? It’s harvest gold. And the vegetable bins are rickety. And it’s hard to clean.

MBG has stolen my cat. That one of him with the railings–that is my Simon.
You can keep him (cat is in the doghouse at present).
Off to bed to sleep and arise to make $ in the am.
Bye, all. See ya Montag.
I was supposed to go out and get a doppler of my hands - it would show the circulation patterns, or lack thereof - but my doc already knows I have Reynaud’s so I’m not sure of the point of the doppler - anyway I blew that off and also my hair appointment. I just didn’t feel like getting dressed today. I slept in, watched a movie, watched the Mets squeak out another win (it looked bad in the 9th but there was a beauty game ending double play) watched some more movies, slept some more, woke up to take my meds and I’ll be going back to sleep soon.
Thanks for all the kind words about Smokey - no, she won’t kill me. She forgives me every morning when I feed her
=^.^=
Well, we just spent the day at the ER. A friend of ours (D) has his relatively new boyfriend (A, who is also a friend of ours, known independently of the previous friend) visiting from State College this week. This morning, A fell down D’s stairs, bumpity-bumpity-bump. After shrugging it off and going back to bed to sleep another four or five hours, he realizes that he doesn’t feel so good. D asks us to come watch A while he takes his mother grocery shopping, and supervenusfreak takes one look at A and orders him out to my car to go to the ER (which is about 3 blocks from D’s house).
He’s in the ER for about six hours (a C1 vertebral fracture, for which he’s currently in a neck brace pending an appointment with a neurologist), and we drive him back to D’s house after he’s discharged. D has had to go on a work call to a city about an hour away, so I’m sent to go get A’s new prescriptions filled, which I do thanks to Rite-Aid’s very wonderful pharmacy ladies (who agreed to fill the scrip even though they were in the PROCESS of closing when I got there, and despite the fact that they were scrips for Vicodin and Valium and I have no earthly idea what either A or D’s house numbers in their respective residences actually are).
When I get back, supervenusfreak is winnowing through A’s meds (good Og, there were a lot of them: blood pressure, anti-psychotic, diabetic, vitamins) trying to organize them for him (did I mention that A’s blood sugar was 300 when they tested in the ER?). We spent a good three hours doing that, eating pizza that D brought back with him, and talking. We just got back.
I’ve spent way too much time, cumulatively, at the ER at St. Joe’s in the past year…
MBG, Marty looks a lot like our Macey, except Marty has kind of a regal bearing and Macey just skulks.
Today I put on my Reporter Hat (the one I got from working on the RPI school paper) to investigate the qualifying exam. I had already made copies of exams going back six years - the idea being to identify any trends in the nature or composition of the test. Alas, since the test is written by a different professor each year, a good prediction is impossible, but I did convince myself that the different subjects will be well-balanced.
Also, the test always has one question about the past year’s weekly physics lectures (grad students are required to attend). I thought maybe I could find a record of what topics were covered last year, and make it an easy question even though I wasn’t here, but to no avail. Oh well. I still have a shot at being able to answer the question, because I do so much reading about cosmology in my own time.
Then I did some real studying (i.e. I worked some problems), and now I’m calling it a night. More tomorrow. Isn’t this exciting?
jayjay, sorry about your friend. It seems that supervenusfreak has the situation well in hand, to the point of improving his situation.
Where’s the dog, and what are his opinions on the present arrangement?
spats - I’ve forgotten - what is your specific field?
gt, my fridge is dying, too. Of course I have to wait till Monday to call the landlord.
FCM, glad the craft show went well. I guess the Fairy Chat Mug was a real bargain?
MBG, Cuervo should does drink slow, if it is the same bottle.
I am going to join bobbio and rigsn bed.
I went to a long driver’s ed class today with a bunch of teenagers. I didn’t like teenagers when I was one, and my opinion has not changed.
Then I came home, baked a pumpkin cheesecake, and called someone who’d left a message on Mom’s cell phone for me. See, she has my old phone and my old number, and some people still call for me on it. I called the caller back, and so it happens that I have a date! With a certified non-jerk. It’s a guy I actually dated for a little while, before he got married. (It was a whirlwind romance, and apparently a whirlwind divorce as well.) This old school chums catching up thing is unusual, but kind of cool. We were complete dorks about it, though. “So I’ll pick you up, we’ll have dinner, maybe go for a walk,” he sez.
“That sounds like a date,” I sez. “Is it?”
“Do you want it to be?” he sez. Always a charmer, that one.
He isn’t getting any of my cheesecake, though.
Well, it’s always better for a woman to wait to get to know someone very well before sharing their cheesecake with the guy.
But then again, I’m the one who practically gives my beefcake away on streetcorners, so what’s my advice worth?
Haha. Well, as I am a lady, I don’t talk about that kind of cheesecake in public.
Hahahaha! I almost believed me that time.
I plan on studying quantum gravity, but the qualifier and the courses I’ll be taking over the next couple of years are the same for all physics graduate students.
… Did someone say “cheesecake”?
Evening. I don’t like pumpkin cheesecake, but I made Nigella Lawson’s 15 minute chocolate pudding, and there’s leftovers. Ingredients: chocolate, eggs, heavy cream, flour, butter.
Attacks Husband and I just watched Ve for Vendetta, and really liked it. Haven’t read the book. Neat movie.
Bedtimed. Having trouble typing. Tired.
