The Creepy Obama Sex Ad

So as most people have probably heard by now, Obama released an ad that it is very similar to an ad that Vladimir Putin put out earlier this year, comparing voting for him to having sex with him.
It has of course generated a response video meant to parody it.
Reagan apparently also made the same joke back in the day. Between Putin and Reagan, I’m not sure which one the Obama crew would prefer for voters to think they got the “inspiration” from.

Were they intending all along to come across as so creepy and strange that people would share the ad far and wide? Or was it just that they totally missed how it would come across to a lot of people who don’t really want to think about shagging any of the candidates?
(Yes, I know that some of the people reading this are surely sexually attracted to Obama, Romney, Ryan, and quite possibly Biden for that matter. I just am not into them myself)

It’s called humor.

I wanna dropkick Lena Dunham through a window. Is that what I’m supposed to be getting from that video because that’s what I’m getting.

It’s very funny.

(And my first time was with Arthur Calwell – now, that’s creepy and strange.)

Yes. Old voters get scaremongering about Medicare and Social Security, young voters get celebrities and once in a rare while some humor.

I’m on limited bandwidth internet and can’t watch streaming videos. Can someone summarize, or give me a blow-by-blow (no pun intended?) of what the video entails?

It’s a young women very enthusiastically talking to the camera. She says that it’s very important who you choose for your first time, and gives lots of reasons why she chose Obama for her first time.

What a horrible video. You guys are right to pretend to outraged by it - even if it was originally only a YouTube video. I missed the “I’m Barack Obama and I endorse this ad.” Maybe you could get a sound editor guy to add that in.

I think the ad is cute and seems to be turning out to be a rapid field test for prudishness (or maybe impaired humor).

I’m far more offended by the candidates looking straight into the camera while they tell bald face lies.

She’s cute and funny. People are really reaching for reasons to be ticked off.

The ad clearly plays to fears the Republican party has about people having sex. Or fun. Or a laugh.

Scandalous!

Young women should know nothing… NOTHING!.. about sex and sexy-sexy-time stuff, much less make jokes about it.

(Shudders)

It made me laugh.

I think it was way creepier when Reagan made the same joke, only referenced *painful *sex:

And, while I’m sure he didn’t mean it that way, am I the only one who hears that as an allusion to an old hetero man having his first *gay *sex? Switching teams, anyone?

This is obviously good new for the John McCain campaign.

OK, that is creepy, but for a reason that nobody else has pointed out yet. Isn’t “Dunham” Obama’s mother’s maiden name? Is this lady related to him?

I don’t think he meant that. It’s the whole losing your virginity thing; painful when the hymen breaks, and then it feels good.

Ronald Reagan had a hymen?

The right seems to pretend to be outraged about twice as often as the left pretends to be outraged these days. That used to be a shrill liberal thing, but now seems to have been taken over by shrill conservatives. Either way, it’s tiresome.

Of course he didn’t mean that. That’s why I said “while I’m sure he didn’t mean it that way…”

But if Reagan thinks your voting “hymen” regrows when you switch teams, that’s another disturbing image right there, that is…
