Wow, in all that time I took to catch up, nobody else posted?
First things first, just to make it official, Replace Captain Pinkies I think pede already agreed to this, but just in case he needs more votes on it.
Second, with Meeko and special ed having declared Mason (or the equivalent), we can at least be sure that they’re on the same side. It’s also consistent with paulwhoisaghost’s observing that ed didn’t act. I’m not sure why ed claimed as early as he did (neither he nor Meeko was voted for at that time), but I can’t see a motivation for such an early claim for Town nor Scum, so I don’t think I can read too much into that.
paul, a question for you (which you may have to clear up with pede): If you were to successfully observe someone taking an action, how much would you learn (i.e., target of the action, what the action was, etc., or just whether the person took an action)?
Finally, a rules question occurs to me:
[color=green]When a non-Town faction uses the faction’s collective night power, is a member of the faction singled out to perform that action? That is to say, is there a designated killer and/or a designated sinfector?
Now, this could just be a difference in playing style, but I noticed that while Joey has a healthy post count, a lot of it is either noise or little remarks of minor helpfulness. That might just be the way he thinks, but it could be Scum offering up seemingly helpful but ultimately insubstantial information.
Another point to consider is Joey’s vote for SpurGe on Day 1 (post #170):
Of all the justifications for voting, this has to be one of the weakest. By this stage their was a nice little bandwagon forming.
I’m clutching at straws here, people. It is late in the Day and there are too few cases out there. At this rate, there is going to be a last minute frenzy that the scum will be able to slip into and manipulate. Someone, anyone, please come up with a case stronger than the ones I’m offering. ToDay has been mostly noise - it’s time to change that.
It’s more that I’m still new to the game then anything else, so I’m still very much learning. That and I get worried about sticking my foot in my mouth. For example Meeko was ‘pinging my scumdar’ and I was getting ready to do a WoW on him (or telling myself I would give it a shot, but he’s got ALOT of posts) and then he claims (well, get’s claimed by Ed). Paul, I wasn’t sure about one way of the other, then he goes and claims too. Now we’ve got the mess with him and Angel and I really don’t know what to think. I mean on the one hand it makes sense, OTOH, all Angel has to do is pray and and the applicable role will get the ‘correct’ results*, but other seem to be okay with the plan, so I feel like I’m missing something and don’t speak up about it.
*applicable role…I assume there is a role that can reveal what another persons role is and I assume in that they would also be able to find out alignment and (im)purity status. right.
Wait, come to think of it, how is everyone planning to verify this? If Angel decides to stay with the sinners, she could just be playing along with Paul, right (I mean if Paul is a sinner instead of town)?
WoW=Wall Of Words, basically an analysis of all your posts.
Here’s one style
Usually each line contains a link the the relevant post so the reader can double check what was actually written against how it was paraphrased.
There’s other styles, this was just the first one I found, but it gives you the basic idea.
What made me not want to do it was the fact that you have sooo many posts and sooo many of them are questions that then have answers. Answers that would need to be included in the WoW (IMO) because often times you asked more questions later that were either similar or followup questions based on the answers you received.
But claiming busybody makes you 95% confirmed town, so I’m not sure there’s a good reason to do it now.
I decided unilaterally to claim in an attempt to bring meeko under control. I didn’t want us focusing on his different behavior as potentially Scummy. His ideas are different and were causing what I felt was a distraction to finding scum. At this point, we can read them in a different light.
I know we are all lost in the mechanics of a mafia game.
We are further lost in the particulars of THIS mafia game.
I am still further lost on how to play Mafia at all, this being my first game.
Using tactics from Haggle have gotten me further lost.
It also doesn’t help that my brain still hasn’t gotten key concepts of this game. – It could be (Neutral comment here) just the group I am playing with reacting to me.
That being said, I look forward to playing with peekercpa, if I ever can.
Assuming that paul is Town, and that he survives long enough to do so, he should try to cleanse Angel. And assuming that Angel is Town, she should honestly say whether she was cleansed. If, toMorrow morning, Angel says that she was not cleansed, then either she or paul is lying, and we know that at least one of them is a Scum, which is extremely useful information for Town. If she says that she was cleansed, then either she’s lying, or paul really does have a Sin-cleansing power, which would be strong evidence that he’s Town (the Blackhearts could theoretically have a Sin-cleansing power, but it seems unlikely). This is not quite as valuable information for Town, but it’s still pretty good. The upshot is, if we just wait and see there, one way or another, we’ll get valuable information.
Quoth special ed:
OK, that’s probably not how I’d have played it, but I can see the sense in that. Incidentally, if one of you should happen to die, I think it would probably be a good idea to out another Busybody (if there is one): Your power isn’t of any use if you can’t verify each other, so we don’t want all of the known busybodies to be killed.
One other thing that I’ve been mulling over… Both yesterDay’s lynch of Spurious George and the flurry of votes this Morning for paulwhoisaghost seem kind of bandwaggony, to me, which makes me suspicious of the voters in both (and yes, I know that I started both). But I don’t think I can read too much into that until I have more evidence of paul’s innocence-- I’m still suspicious of him, too. If, toMorrow, we have evidence in favor of paul, I think that might be a basis for a vote, but unfortunately, that doesn’t help us yet toDay.
