The current second Trump administration: a compendium of horrors

Ah, yes…thanks for the reminder. I should have remembered that.

And every international airport, even one in Kansas, counts as an international border. And so gets its own 100-mile bubble of CBP impunity.

I was just about to ask you that! Got it.

Customs and Border Protection, CBP. Where the hell did I get “CPB”?

nitpick: there are no international airports in Kansas.

But your point remains: if there were an international airport in Kansas, it would be an international border.

There’s also this. DHS deputized CBP to work the immigration stuff, presumably almost anywhere in the country:

We’ve heard for a year that DHS has pulled anybody they could off of any assignment they might have, and from any agency they can find, in order to bolster the ICE stuff.

Corporation for Public Broadcasting?

Instructed? No. “Subtly* encouraged”? Absolutely. We see it happening right now. Noem and Vance’s messaging make it clear, no matter how obviously wrong a shooting is, they’ll have the agent’s backs. Not only will they not be charged Federally, they’ll use Federal resources to derail any other investigation/prosecution.

The types of people who are still working for ICE hear that message loud and clear, even if it’s not explicit.

  • For certain stupid values of “subtle”

Good point.

I was thinking of Kansas City International Airport - Wikipedia which is pretty darn near the geographical center of the lower 48 & about as far from a US perimeter border as one can get.

It’s also actually located in Missouri, about 6 miles from the river border with Kansas. Something I surely should have remembered.

I am pretty sure the “international airport creates a 100-mile border patrol bubble” thing is a misconception. I seem to recall reading a discussion of it on these boards, but search is defeating me.

Even so, just considering the geographical edges of the country, something like 70% of the population still lives within border patrol’s operational jurisdiction.

Right – also in the news, alas (and discussed upthread, surely). It is now gone with the wind.

I feel like a tone has been set:

So, yeah. Maybe so.

I’m sure you’re right, thanks!

And “jurisdiction” doesn’t mean anything if the people tasked with enforcing that have just decided to not do that. Who wants to gamble on the courts actually telling CBP to let someone go because of where they were on a map?

From the article:

“We’re going to go on the offence, not just on defence. Maximum lethality, not tepid legality,” Hegseth said.

So Kegsbreath has just announced that the US is going to flout international law and commit war crimes. Meanwhile the illustrious Nazi Stephen Miller recently announced, “We’re a superpower… we are going to conduct ourselves as a superpower.”

The mind boggles. The world is in peril.

We know from his first administration that Trump is jonesing to use nukes on someone, and was talked out of it then. It no longer seems impossible that he would actually go ahead and order it, and have his order carried out.

These Nazi cosplaying fuckwits are going to trigger WW3 at this rate. Which I half suspect may be the point. NATO and the UN of course will crumble in the ashes.

Realistically, Trump might be “just” a felon/conman/simpleton who’s only concerned about making his own personal “line go up” but people like Miller want to either rule the world or watch it burn.

Three more years of this shit? Really?

The evangelist faction of the Right has been pushing for WWIII since the 1980s, so that’s likely a genuine factor for some of them. His Vice President Pence from the last Trump administration was himself an End Times cultist, and so evidently Trump doesn’t mind such people.

Nazi Barbie has rolled out a new motto for ICE:

“One Of Ours, All Of Yours”

We are in an open civil war, folks.

Is it an assumption when you’re looking at evidence?

  • LEO are trained to not step in front of vehicles
  • This thug stepped in front of a vehicle
  • Draw your own conclusion

This giving assholes the benefit of the doubt is getting tiresome.
