Where would you find a group of people sitting around a table, and have the conversation run from British expressions to the logistics of a Chinese-Soviet war to civil liberties to Tom Leherer lyrics?
This was but a snapshot into the DC Straight Dope gathering, just now concluded at the Capitol City Brewing Company downtown.
I think we had twelve attendees, but if I try to name them all I will forget someone - so people, chime in!
I, being a relative newcomer here, was pleased to meet everyone, and a good time was had by all - except, apparently, the waiter, who apparently believed that our orders were interrupting his busy schedule of standing around. Still, this was a minor blemish in an otherwise sterling evening!
Nyah, nyah, Bricker, you missed your chance to be the first to post in the old thread after the event! Ok, so you were first here. I was second in both places! Do I lack a social life, or what?
I enjoyed myself, and the company immensely. Lets do this again, whenever the heck it is that whoever the heck it was is gonna be visiting whoever the heck it was that they were gonna be visiting, if you know what I mean. <P ALIGN=“CENTER”>Tris</P>

I enjoyed myself as well, and it was great putting faces with names! Opus was elected the official notetaker, so I’m sure he’ll be around here eventually…
