DC/Baltimore DoperFest?

All right…RT keeps hinting we should do this, so I figured I’d start the thread. Anyone else want to do this? Ideas on location, date, etc?

I live in Baltimore.

Sorry, no suggestions of locations from me. Havent even seen much of Blatimore.

But definitely count me in.

I am fond of the Brickskeller in downtown DC.

I like the Fell’s Point area in Baltimore. Plenty of good restaurants/beer joints there.

Just a thought.

Oooo. Never been to Fells Point, but I love the Brickskellar. Anywhere you can get 200 kinds of beer works for me.

DC would be my preference. I walk past the Brickskeller all the time but never had the urge to go in. Just let me know where & when and I’ll be there.

I’m mid-way between D.C. and Baltimore, so either city is fine by me, although my preference is D.C. simply because I know the place a little better.

Boy, we’re a real decisive bunch here, ain’t we?

Okay, let’s talk time-frame. Assuming we get together at some point in the next four weeks:

What day of the week would be best for you?
What weekends would be outright impossible for you?

In answer to my own question,
I prefer Saturdays and Sundays for a meet, but probably can deal with a Friday or a weeknight.
Any weekend is fine, although the 30th is right out (though not because of the Superbowl, unfortunately).

Any evening including weekends is good, but not too late as I have to get up before the birds do to go to work. Dinner time-ish?

Friday and/or Saturdays work better for me. I’m in Silver Spring, so I can get to Baltimore or DC, whichever is easier for everyone else. And…a few weekends are bad in February, but I’ll need to check with the 'rents before I know which ones.

Fells Point sounds like a plan to me but I’m open to suggestion. I’m there. Look out, Falcon! grin

Last time there was DC gathering the place was SO LOUD that you could really only hear the person next to you… it made it impossible to have a whole-group conversation. I vote we choose a place other than like, a bar… DC is my preference…

Ok,

I am off from this Wednesday, until the following Thursday. So, that makes this coming week fine for me. After that, Wednesday and Thursday are best for me.

Other than that, I prefer DC to Baltimore, cause it is closer for me. Halfway between would be fine though. The End of the line of the DC Metro would be even better, wherever the heck that is, on the Maryland end. Brickskeller was great last time I was there, but that was in 1970, so . . .

Quiet is nice. Also, room to move about a bit, and sit with more than the one person you happened to sit next to first is great.

What goes: Clop, clop, clop, clop, Bang! Bang! Clop, clop, clop?
An Amish drive-by shooting.

DC would be best for me, as I can’t be too far away from my pregnant wife.

Judges 14:9 - And [Samson] took thereof in his hands, and went on eating, and came to his father and mother, and he gave them, and they did eat: but he told not them that he had taken the honey out of the carcase of the lion.

Fridays and Saturdays are good. I’m fond of the Brickskeller too but I can understand the noise issue.

End of the (Red) line for the DC metro in MD is either Gaithersburg or Wheaton, kinda far out from the city.

Looks like DC is the common consensus. You DC folks decide on a location. Saturday night would work better for me, as I work early on most Saturdays.

Still trying to think of something witty to say here

Brickskeller would work for me (haven’t been there in eons, but ready to go back).

If we wanted to do a place that would be more manageable for anybody coming down from Blatimore ;), then the 94th Aerosquadron in College Park would be an alternative.

I should mention that this Saturday is out for me; already have plans. Some other time during the weekend, including Friday night or Sunday afternoon/evening, would be fine.

One place that I’ve been where conversation is fairly manageable is Margellina’s, off Md. Route 5 a few miles outside the Beltway. They’re also inexpensive, and have a selection of over 100 beers. (Not up there with the Brickskeller, but not half bad!)

Weeknights are OK for me too. (Can’t seem to get it all into one post this afternoon!)

UDD has been working late a lot, so weekdays won’t work for us. How about NEXT weekend, not this weekend?

The weekend of the 30th isn’t the best for me, but if we sit around trying to figure out when is the best for all of us, we’ll be meeting on some alternate Tuesday in the year 2005. So I’ll keep my objections quiet. Besides, it feeds my martyr complex.

Therefore- weekend after next is fine by me, but if we can put it off until Saturday the 5th, I’ll do a private little happy dance.

So, anyone from DC have a suggestion besides the Brickskeller?

As for the Maryland sites- I like the 94th Aero, and would certainly be willing to ferry people from the Metro to the 94th.

The 49th AS is a good choice, but I think they might be a bit pricey. May I suggest The Capitol City Brewing Company? I am not a beer person myself, but I am sure they must have more than that. Plus, every time I walk by, the place seems to be empty- lots of room for us! It’s at 1100 New York Avenue, a couple of blocks from Metro Center.
