The Delaware Primer MMP

Morning all. Yes, my MIL is truly a unique specimen. Unfortunately, whenever I confront hubby about it, he just shrugs and mumbles something about being caught between a rock and a hard place! Meanwhile, we simply can’t afford to move to Australia, because that would involve shifting over to paying tax (in the vicinity of 40%) from a tax-free income. Believe me, the idea has crossed my mind! At least I wouldn’t have to do any injury to MIL to stop her following us though - at the grand old age of 53, she carries on like an 80-year old with osteoporosis and complains about even having to haul her lard-ass off the sofa to go into the kitchen!

Hubby is also on my sh*t list for a different reason this morning. We have a lot of shopping and organising to do today, so we agreed (on hubby’s insistence) that we would BOTH wake up with HRH this morning, have breakfast and get an early start on the day. Well, someone has decided that “Let’s wake up together” means “you wake up and when I feel like it, I’ll get out of bed”. Grrrr!

Thanks… it’s nice to be appreciated, I guess!

Off to Boston tomorrow- NE Car show for hubby and son, American Girl for me and little girl!

I had scrambled eggs with pesto for dinner and a warm brownie with whipped cream for dessert. I overbaked the brownies, so they’re completely done all the way through. Those are only good when they’re hot. I like fudgy brownies that are barely done in the middle. Mmmm!

I think my director’s digging her own grave, actually, especially now that she’s scared. She could get really, really nasty now. I do know that my actual boss likes me and thinks I’m doing a great job handling the director, insofar as she can be handled. In my next job, I want to work for a decent human being, not someone who requires a whip and a chair to force them to behave. I want to do something interesting, too, but working for decent people is near the top of my list.

Home.

dotty, I’d have slapped MIL.

Glad you still have a job, Shadow

Congrats, snowbunny!!

Dotty, I don’t know who it was that said that the following treatment should be applied to kings: “the worst one should be hung using as a rope the guts of the best one.” I’m trying to decide whether it’s your SiL or your MiL who should be the beheaded one; we’ve been hearing more about MiL and you’ve got more contact with her, but both sound hangable. No, I 'm not advocating familicide quite

I’ve input some non-fattening, diabetic-appropriate, color-of-your-choice chocolate in the disk drive for everybody. Shadow sounds like chocolate is what the doctor ordered, and everybody else is welcome to some!

I’m an aunt with a mission. Yesterday I had to explain to Mom something The Nephew had been saying about “black Spideyrman” and “the white man with the green hair.” Mom isn’t much of a fan of superhero stuff in general and, unlike SiL (who thinks all cartoons are for kids) and Middlebro (who thinks anything he likes is appropriate for his kid, maybe some day I’ll ask whether he thinks his kid should be getting tail…), Mom’s very conscious of age ratings on toys and cartoons and of the reasons behind them. Neither of us likes the fact that the TV has been babysitting The Kidlet since he was big enough to be plunked down in a sitting position; she went semi-nuclear when I explained what “black Spiderman” and the Joker are.

Two of the stores that are close to the hotel where I stay in Bilbao these weeks are the electronics section of El Corte Inglés (big department store) and FNAC (big entertainment store). So I’m gonna go see if I can find some Hanna Barbera, as I think The Flintstones are much more age-appropiate for a 3yo than murderous villains…

Look, you uppity young 'un, if I say it’s cold, then it’s cold! :stuck_out_tongue: I just took the doggies out - it looked to be about 21 or 22, and there was definite frost about. Even the furnace has been coming on, and it’s set for 62 inside at night. That’s cold. So just hush your sassy mouth! :p[sup]3[/sup]

Speaking of cold, the controller on my side of the heated mattress pad went wonky yesterday. When I went to bed, it was off and my sheets were frosty. **FCD **swears he turned it on. So I turned it on, and in minutes it was off again. Twice. Not knowing what else to do, I untucked the sheets at the foot of the bed and made sure the connector was seated correctly. I guess that was it, because it stayed on all night.

But I’m still sending the controller back, because if I click it up to 5 (as indicated by lights) it immediately goes back to 1. I only put it that high to heat up my side before I go to bed, and it goes back to 1 or 2 for sleep. Still, the thing is only a year old, so I wrote an email to Westpoint Stevens and they said to send the bad one and they’d replace it. That means for a week or more, I won’t be able to warm my side of the bed. Guess I (or someone) will be sleeping in the guest room… Still, I’m glad they’ll replace it, even tho I don’t have a receipt.

In other news, I was awakened by a disturbing dream involving brownies, crab legs, and having to get all the food packaged up and hidden so the bad guys couldn’t take it. And no one else at this picnic thing cared or would help me pack the food. And a whole bunch of brownies went missing. So I woke up pissed off, right about the time daughter was leaving to proctor the exam. If they use her, she’ll get $98. If not, she’ll get $22. Either way, it more than pays for her (my, since she’s using my car) gas, and it’s a little pocket change for a little work. Exam starts in about a half hour or so - why is the SAT given so early??? Anyway, she’ll be home in an hour or after lunch.

I think I need some caffeine. Why couldn’t I sleep in…? stoopit dream…

So, is anybody but BioRosie takin’ heed of my slouch day decree?

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. It looks all gloomy outside. This is one of those there might be some rain today or not days. Seriously. That’s what the weather forecast all but says today.

Hmmmmmmm… what to do for brekkies… I’s hongry! Bacon, scrambled aigs, grits and toast sounds good. Real good! Gotta go make brekkie!

Later Y’all!

Oooh Swampy, you’ve made me hungry, that brekkie sounds good. Good morning all; I’m up and caffeinated already–good coffee too! FCM is right, it is definitely -frosty- outside this morning. I got some beef short ribs yesterday at the store and think I’m going to use them to make a beef mushroom barley soup today that I’ll make in the slow cooker.

I don’t have anything on the agenda today either; think it’s just going to be a stay-at-home day and I’ll probably watch movies on TCM or something. Or watch that Retrovision TV network - boy that’s what TVLand -used- to be! LOL

Happy Saturday all. And a -huge- trout slap for Dotty’s MIL!

I wish! I’ve been up since 6, shoveled the snow out of the driveway, and off of the deck, now I’m finishing up brekkies and caffeinating, since I have to go into work today. Then I get to brave the Saturday grocery shoppers on my way home. At least my weekend this time around is Sunday and Monday.

Dotty, a wet trout is too good for MiL. Freeze that sucker and you have a nice club.

WTF am I doing up this early on a Saturday? Answer: Himself decided that it was perfectly adequate to throw a large picked over turkey carcass into the kitchen garbage can along with ham bones, then leave it there and go to bed. Any guesses as to what a lab/husky dog with teenager style appetites thinks that is? Yah, smorgasbord. I really, REALLY hope he didn’t get to spend much time at it before I woke up and cleaned it all up because we can’t actually afford a vet bill right now. Dogs are dumb. So are men. I am sleepy. The coffee is almost ready. Himself is going to join me in being awake very early, since we need to go to DMV today and it’s gonna be right after it opens!

Mrgphslmmrph. Where coffee, WHERE???

I’m not having a slouch day, either, but that’s OK, because I’ve been baking YUMMY cookies. I made almond crescents (well, the official name is Vanilla Crescents (Vanillekipferl). Even with added almond extract, they’re pretty subtle, shortbready cookies. I drizzled melted chocolate chips on a few of them, but I actually like them better plain.

I made over 100 of the things, which is way more than enough for the cookie exchange tomorrow. Now I need to go get a couple of Christmas gifts, then it’s off to church for a $100 Christmas workshop (I’m helping with a group, apparently, in something plant-related).

So…it’s off to get something accomplished before going off to church.

Happy Saturday morning everyone!

GT

Been busy at home the past two days – always seems like the weekend is busier than the work days, around here! Lessee – shopping, chauffeuring, cooking a proper dinner (that was Friday); Doing some stuff at wife’s office, going to Jerusalem with the family to visit Special Teen at school, gym (today.) I can haz regular, relaxing 10-hour work day, pleez? :dubious::smack:

Read everything, retained little… Dotty, I second the idea of freezing the trout. **Rigs **and Taters, don’t remember why but I remember you need some {{{}}}; waving “hi!” back at GT; Yay and good luck with the new venture Pie; Yay on the new job for your guy, Aleq… And yay, boo, hugs and gropes to all others as needed – take what you want / need

Actually, I’ll slouch later - I’ve got a few things to do first
(I know, I know - it kind of defeats the purpose of a “slouch day”)

Good morning my lovelies. Unfortunately, it’s not a slouch day for me. I need to leave in about 30 minutes to get my hair done.

When I return from that, hubby and I need to run down to the paintball supply store and pick up a birthday present for my son. Upon our return, we need to stop at the grocery store and pick up the fixings for Death Chicken because it was requested I bring that to our neighbor’s 99 party tonight. Between all that, it’s laundry and various other errands.

Tomorrow my baby turns 16. Hubby is taking my son, my nephew and my son’s friend to paintball. After they return from that, it’ll be ice cream cake and what-not. After that, we need to drive my nephew back out to Port Orchard which is about a 45 minute to hour drive from here.

Yesterday was busy too. Many errands, etc. Sheesh, I wonder when I’ll get a weekend to just relax!

rigs, I wish I could make the same decree as you! Good luck with the job thing. I really hope you get it.

It’s somewhat cold here too. It’s about 30 degrees outside. No snow for the foreseeable future though.

Hi from sunny Boston!

'tis all for now!

It’s all in the perspective, FCM. You probably didn’t want to be along last year when I got a tour around the resort, the condos and such and largely on foot, and it was 18F. That was cold. Not hideously unbearably cold, but definitely cold.

gasps A 60% chance of snow Wednesday morning??? I’ll believe it when I see it, but that would be AWESOME!

No slouch day here, I have to work. And I have a huge pile of filing to do, which I don’t mind. I haven’t had time to do it on any weekdays.

So just what does it take to get y’all to be slackers! :dubious:
Ok, so I’ve been a little productive. But not much. Tomorrow is brunch Sunday at church which dictated that I turn up with some sort of delectable dish. I have some sweet N.O.T. that need to be used so I have decided to make two sweet N.O.T. N.O.P.. This necessitated the pealing, cubing and cooking of said sweet N.O.T. which I have done and added the requisite sugar and spices to so that they may become N.O.P. Later today or tonight I shall place the prepared sweet N.O.T. into  GASP! store bought N.O.P. crusts which are in disposable N.O.P. tins. Hey, the fillin’ is homemade so that counts.

N.O.L. was frozen pizza which I thoughtfully cooked along with a couple of beerverages.

Now I’s sleepified. So is ol’ y’all know who. Thus, I decree it to be nappy poo time.

Later Y’all!

No time to slack here. **FCD **went to the dump, then bought some wood to build a roll-around toolbox/work table. Daughter wasn’t needed to proctor, so she and I went shopping. She got some pants and tights for work. I got my Secret Santa gift, then we got some fabric to cover her 2 big throw pillows. Final stop was for groceries and a microwave.

I’ve got a load of jeans in the washer and a turkey carcass boiling on the stove. We’re watching Harry Potter and wasting time. I decided to make meatloaf for supper. And smashed N.O.T. And some sort of vegetables.

Still haven’t worked on the green bedroom. Not very motivated, I’m afraid. Maybe the slouching thing is contagious??

MOOOOOOM just hang one of those danger radioactive nuclear waste signs on the door to the green bedroom and keep it shut. Problem solved.

See how easy that was!

Sweet N.O.T. N.O.P. are bakin’ away. They smell sooooooooo good!

Ol’ y’all know who says he’ll go get us sammiches from Subway for dindin if’n I want. The local Subway is in a convenience store ‘bout three quarters of a mile away. Fine by me. Thus, when it gets dindin time I may send him up (it’s north of us) there. I asked him if he way hongry now and he said no just that Subway might be good. Reckon he’ll expect “appreciation” for goin’ to buy sammiches?

It’s been gloomy out all day but no rain. Just cloudy and gray.

OK, I just ordered myself a replacement wedding band. It’s supposed to get here by a week after our anniversary. Guess if I’d ordered it last week, I’d have it in time for the anniversary. But at least I’ll have one again.

Well, time to make the meatloaf. Off with me then.

MWAH!
