The Democratic National Convention

Symone Sanders, Bernie’s former National Press Secretary, is currently coming out against the idea that the DNC rigged the primary in a long Twitter “speech”.

Nate Silver, bless his soul, had to give an estimate of % of people booing: 2-5%

Awesome!

There’s a small but non-negligible amount of BernieBots who are far too extremist and deluded to ever accept the truth, and that’s probably the accurate amount, considered as a percentage of his erstwhile supporters.

They announced it on MSNBC. Bernie got moved from 9:00pm to 10:00pm, which is considered the most desired slot.

If that’s too late for him to stay up, they could get Larry David to sit in for him.

I have no doubt that Bernie will strongly back Hillary - if not this week, then further down the home stretch. He knows that Trump must be beaten, and that Hillary is now the only person who can do it. Some small percentage of Sanderistas will cross their arms, reject his calls and continue to gripe against Hillary, but most - just like the vast majority of the ardently pro-Hillary people who insisted they’d never, ever back Obama in 2008 - will see what has to be done and do the right thing come November.

Are there any Dopers actually in Phila. this week for the DNC?

What the hell is going on with the audience? The GOP convention was applause and loud cheers, punctuated by laughter at the jokes; this is just – calm?

Thanks for the schedule update, Fear Itself. Does that mean Michelle Obama is moved to 11PM ET?

(I’m kinda hoping whoever introduces her says something like, “I’m sure the Republicans are taking note of her speech–so they can use it in four years.” I know no one will really say this, but it’d be funny nonetheless.)

Watching the convention, it’s sure nice to see the diversity there. At least these attendees don’t look like they’ve been hosed down by a metric ton of bleach.

Yeah, but you know how the media likes to play up the drama, so they’re going to make it seem like it’s a larger contingent. Headlines tomorrow are going to be something like: “A Contentious Start to the Democratic Convention”. Controversy sells!

I think the musical acts so far are better. Nice choice to have Demi Lovato doing Confident.

Honestly had never heard of her before, but that song was kinda impressive.

As a journalism major I cannot bear to watch any of the so-called news channels now. I’m watching the DNC on C-SPAN. I don’t need talking heads fighting with each other to tell me what to think.

Waldo? (Robert Redford too, if you are listening)

I almost wish i had a POS Throw-Away-Spot at a podium.

I Know… that I am Not… the worlds best public speaker.

…and yet I Know …that with Passion, Humor, and Charisma Alone… that I Could have brought that audience alive.

I’m no heavy weight, candidate, delegate, or figure eight. And yet School House Rock Aside, I think that I could have made some good points.
…Its OK. Its not like Dick Vermeil had open try-outs…

Lucky you, my cable system ditched C-SPAN back during their last renegotiation. I think it was replaced by some footie channel.

I have CSPAN1, CSPAN2, and CSPAN3. Neener neener.

God I’m a geek. I just talked smack about my abundance of CSPAN choices.

Another option, if you want to avoid the talking heads, is to watch the ‘official’ Democratic National Convention channel on YouTube.

Sen. Al Franken on now: “I earned my doctorate in Megalomania from Trump University.”

He’s doing quite well so far.

And Jeffrey Lord just said that because a comedian can become a Senator, a businessman can handle being President.

Played a clip of Trump mocking the disabled reporter to introduce a woman with cerebral palsy who is an advocate for the disabled.

Where’s Edward James Olmos?
