From what I can see, Clinton gains nothing from it, while risking alienating potential supporters.
He just does not seem able to truly call them on their Useful Idiot antics.
We must protect our precious bodily fluids!
Al Gore endorses Hillary Clinton.
It was a story on the local news today (Gore lives in the area) that he was not attending the convention. Not that big a deal; he didn’t attend in 2012 either. But likely the timing of his endorsement is to blunt any rumors that he is boycotting the convention for political reasons.
The “supporters” that are reportedly booing Sanders?
With “support” like that, who needs enemies?
But there’s no upside to it. There’s nothing but a potential downside, so why do it?
That said, I’m less and less convinced that the story is even correct. It would be all over the big news outlets.
This is a train wreck.
Apparently, DWS has been on the chopping block for a long time now - Obama didn’t really like her, the Clinton team didn’t really like her - but no one disliked her enough to spend political capital to get rid of her.
Here you go. From CBS news. I heard the same thing this morning on KNX1070 News Radio. I really think this is a bad idea. Fence sitters could honestly vote for Jill Stein on the “feeling” (thanks, John Oliver) that Hillary cheated and is rewarding the catalyst.
So much for tonight’s “United Together” theme.
Damn. I was hoping that this wasn’t true. Bad bad bad idea.
Reminds of that scene in Fight Club where Norton’s cult ties him up to prevent him from trying to stop his own revolution. “You said you’d say that!”
For all of the talk about how awful Donald Trump’s campaign has been, Hillary’s has been pretty bad itself. But whereas Donald Trump is showing signs that he’s actually beginning to learn a few things, Hillary’s campaign is rudderless. This feels a lot more like 2000 and 2004 than 1992 or 2008.
This is a critical period for the Clinton campaign. This is when people start paying attention. I don’t know if Jill Stein is the danger though she certainly doesn’t help. However, a bigger danger I fear is that some of those Sanders supporters who were first willing to commit to Clinton simply sit this one out. That would be potentially devastating.
Bernie is texting supporters begging them not to protest on the floor.
I think people are misreading this. Being moved from head of the DNC to “honorary chairperson” of an elect Democrats in 50 states committee is the equivalent to a large corporation moving their CEO to some alternative emeritus role in East Oshkosh. Not sure how this constitutes any sort of reward.
And, oh, by the way, Hillary has a committee to support Democrats in races in 50 states. How is that a bad thing?
What time does Bernie speak? I’m looking at the schedule and after 4PM there are not times indicated for any of the speakers.
That’s what I’m worried about. Little Miss Reading. Any angry Sanders supporter just reads that and spews, spews, spews.
10pm Eastern
Thanks. Are you on the secret mailing list or something?
