I found out yesterday that I’ll be presenting at a conference at the Doubletree (I assume it’s downtown…) on the morning of Thursday 19 October. I’m flying in Wednesday evening, dinnertime-ish, and will be staying at the Doubletree. My presentation is Thursday morning, and it’s only an hour long, so I have almost a whole day to kill in town before I fly home Thursday evening.
Any Georgia Dopers want to meet me? Drinks Wednesday night? Lunch on Thursday?
So I let the thread die, figuring that nobody wanted to see me. That seems to have changed slightly.
I am open this Saturday evening for lunch, drinks and ???. Someone tell me wherte to go and when to go there and me (and my friend) will be there.
Jeff - You and Mullie were on my list of people I really want to meet. Thanks for not making it a total loss, thanks to that bastard Mullinator who doesn’t love me.

Holy Smokes, I cannot even begin to imagine how I tell my Baptist Minister father that not only did I meet Satan for dinner, but that I was one of two people in Atlanta that he wanted to meet.
I am not real knowledgeable about downtown and I have to check with my wife about my availability, but I think I am available.
Let me think about it and I will post back to here.
Park Tavern

Atlanta, GA 30309

I called them and they seem perfect. Outdoor seating overlooking the skyline, a wide array of menu items inclusing pasta, black angus steaks, sandwiches and salads (okay for vegetarians too), and all entrees are in the $8-15 range.
But most importantly: THEY BREW THEIR OWN BEER!!
The link above shows a different name for the establishment, but it’s the correct address.
How does 8:00 PM sound?
Please let me know if you can make it - I’d love to see as many of you as I can - and I’ll call on Friday night to make a reservation… Under Cecil Adams, natch.

I visited Stone Mountain when I was in Atlanta two years ago. It was pretty interesting.
I also like Atlanta’s rail system. (MARTA? I get confused with rail systems - what is San Francisco’s rail system called?) I also recommend the High Museum of Art.
Not sure where the place you listed is located but I am sure I can find it. Sorry not to have posted earlier, but I had the girls last night and could not get on the computer.
I would love to have dinner with the Devil himself. 8 o’clock sounds great. I am not sure if my wife will be there or not.
Come on others in Atlanta. What plans could be more important than having your very own audience with the Dark Lord of the Carolinas region.
Come on Mully, Five, Doctor Jackson, Tuba, xenophon41, spoke-, Enright3, anyone else in Atlanta or surrounding area that I am forgeting or do not even know yet.
Come on guys and gals. This may be a once in a lifetime experience. (Or at least the best opportunity for a while).
But Satan, I believe I can be there at 8 p.m. on Saturday. I will have run 16-18 miles earlier in the day, so while I’m an excellent conversationalist, I may not be very lively.
Park Tavern, formerly The Mill, is perched on the edge of beautiful Piedmont Park. I haven’t eaten there since 1997; the service and menu were pretty poor, as I recall. But that was when it was still The Mill. Surely it’s better now.
There are other restaurants in town that I’m sure will be great, though. Are we married to the Park Tavern idea?
But wherever we dine, I can do it. I’m in. Turn that frown upside down, big red horned guy!
That would be a sig quote if I was still posting at LBMB!
Thank you, Jeff and Five. I wouldn’t say that I’m married to that restaurant, but I would like to stay within that general area. I’m staying near there and the Georgia Dome is there as well.
So, if you can come up with a place nearby which is better, I’m all for it! I’m not the Georgian, after all…
My friend (his name is Bill) is looking forward to meeting you guys!
