The Doctor meets Captain Picard

The Doctor has a number of friends from school, including the Master and Runstable (the fatuous from Deadly Assassin). Runstable was I believe killed off in the original series, so is unlikely to make a return.

I hope they don’t overdo the renegades angle and I’m surprised that they’re bringing back the Daleks again.

As sad as it seems though, the Sun is usually fairly accurate with their Doctor Who predictions.

I would like to see Patrick Stewart (PS) in a role in Doctor Who, not sure about the Monk character though, as I was never that impressed with his early appearances and he was killed off quite nicely in the NA Book “No Future”. Of course this isn’t necessarily canon, but it is a shame to bring back one of the Doctor’s more pointless enemies for an actor as good as PS.

I’m not. My kid’s, as I did at that age, love the Daleks and as the main focus of Doctor Who’s audience is still the younger crowd they aim to please.

Their second favorite villains are the Cyber men and they have appeared how many times now?

I’m certain the Daleks will show up every season.

Well Russell T. Davies is in charge of the specials next year right? Since the specials are going to be considered part of series 4? If so, that would explain why the Daleks are coming back. Davies loves his Daleks.

In other news, Patrick Stewart in anything is always awesome, so I’m looking forward to this if it’s true.

Now see, I would be fine with this, if only they LET THE DAMN THINGS WIN A LITTLE! Obviously not destroy the universe sort of thing, but consider the following:

Daleks try to wipe out universe (or whatever) using some Pandora’s Box type thing hidden on some peaceful planet. Doctor tries to save planet from Daleks. FAILS. BIG TIME FAILURE. EVERYONE DEAD AT DALEK HANDS. But, manages to destroy Pandora’s Box. There. The Doctor wins, as he must, yet the Daleks aren’t degraded to metal-chickenshit status.

That’s all I want. A little less one sidedness in the fights. A little respect to the greatest killing machines in the universe.

But… Meddling Monk? That’s cool. But I’d prefer Romana. Ahh, sweet (Time) Lady.

As much as I admire the guy, I don’t think Patrick Stewart could pull off that role. Unless Romana has really let herself go. Or regenerated into a man.

I like the Cybermen better, really.

If Davies is writing it, I’m sure he’ll find a way to reboot the Monk.

Me too. I like the way they march around. I HATE the Daleks constantly screaming their dialogue.

Well, maybe the Cybermen have captured the Meddling Monk and upgraded him, reprogramming his personality to act as their intermediary in their conquest of the timestream. Then the Doctor would have to rescue him and reverse the polarity of his neutron flow, thereby sending all the other Cybermen into a dormant state.
