If anyone were to tell you that the Dodgers at this point would only 1 game behind from having the best record in baseball up to the All-Star break a few months ago would laugh away.

I don’t think Arizona can reclaim that division, with a Strikeout pitching Nomo back in rare-form, Perez and Ishii pitching like Cy Young winners, and Gagne being the next Dennis Eckersley. Oh man if Kevin Brown ever gets healthy…

3.46 team ERA in this era of baseball is uncanny.

I don’t know much about this manager Jim Tracy, but what’s he done with a team that’s supposed to suck royally for the past two years is a feat.

I respect the Dodgers again, but I still will say…go Mariners.

Finally the dodgers are playing like there supposed too when fox took over

Also I’m glad nomo is having a nice go around again as i liked him the first time after every one said he was washed up

Also people were saying the dodgers were going to be in the cellar … we just needed to get over mike piazza and get rid of pain in the ass players

Also i think fox realized no one watches a losing team generally except for cub fans

But they still can choke and choke badly … remeber last season ?

The biggest reason the Dodgers are doing so well this season is team chemistry - they got rid of a cancer in Gary Sheffield, and Eric Gagne and Dave Roberts are exactly the kind of player you want on your team and in your clubhouse.

I think the pitching will be okay, but I don’t expect Brown back at 100%. He’s a big worry for the future, too.

They need more production out of 1B and 3B, too - there’s been talk of Beltre going to Philadelphia in a deal for Scott Rolen.

Still, great job.

Bah to the giants! they and the padres have a bout the same chance of depriving our beloved dodgers of their rightful place as the nl west division leaders

Theres little reason la cant go to the series this year and as for choking

If i remeber the giants are quite adept at it also as they demostrated a few years ago

My favorites teams: The Giants, and whoever is playing the Dodgers. I’d root for the Reds over the Dodgers. I’d root for the Braves over the Dodgers. I’d root for the Yankees over the Dodgers! It leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but I do it.

And by the way, I am a creature of indescribable beauty and grace, and don’t you forget it!

As a Dodger fan, be very carefull proclaiming someone the next Dennis Eckersley. Remember 1988.

However, if AZ doesn’t put together some offense, you’re probably right. And if the Dodgers beat the D-backs to the post-season, I’ll probably root for them. But until then…

PS - As to the Giants, that is one thing that many in this thread got right. They are evil incarnate. Except Dusty. He’s kind of cool.

Anyhoo, Brown may or may not come back this year. We are hopeful Dreifort can come back and be of help in the bullpen. But this Dodger team is a scrappy bunch of guys who seem to be having fun. They’re fun to watch.
