Black Princess bloomed in the tiny plastic water garden here, and I missed it, for I was at work.
Dammit!
this from a man who serves his wife “minute steak”? One wonders what you’ll say to grilled American cheese on white bread.
I am shamed.
But she* likes* it.
Late truck, simultaneous conference call. On the bright side, my favorite place(Backyard Bistro) was featured on a Discovery Channel show. They had wings, Q, beer up the butt chicken, all in single serve portions. Kinda like a redneck Dim Sum.
swampy, hope your friend gets better.
Congrats, Roo!
Ah, so it’d take a hurricane to get rid of the humidity? The weather men keep promising it’ll subside, but they lie.
So…I don’t participate in the MMP too often, but this isn’t exactly rant material… One of my great-uncles just got diagnosed with breast cancer. Yes, an uncle. 1% of breast cancer is in men, and he drew the short straw. We’ve never been close, but I’m of course worried about him even though the family oncologist says it’s treatable. I’m also worried about the rest of the family too, because Uncle J is the 5th of 8 siblings who lived to adulthood to get cancer, the 4th with breast cancer (their other sister died of uterine cancer) - all four of his sisters died of their cancers.
Thinking about this scares me a lot. So far my mom, my aunt, and their cousins are okay. Their moms mostly began to die in their 50s, and the oldest of them are now in their early to mid-50s. Mom always suspected that her mom and aunts’ use of birth control pills might have encouraged their cancers, but uncle J definitely didn’t take the pill, nor did his father (oh, not only did all four of the girls in the family die of cancer, so did both of their parents, and some of their grandparents…). I hate feeling like my family is cursed. There shouldn’t be such a thing as a family oncologist. I don’t want to see any more family members waste away and die, but it feels like we’re being stalked by this damnable disease. ![]()
So you’re publicly saying you’re wife’s tastes shame you?
Might want to think about being proactive & grabbing the blanket & pillow to go cuddle up with Fido before she even finds out cause youse gonna be in da doghouse!

My counterpart at the other hospital (aka horsepital for Swampy) and I concoted a grand plan for increasing services. It fell through. I had a grand plan for leasing another horse since Bob teh Wonder Pony is retired. It fell through. So what is the third thing that will crap out today?
Blurf. The next time I plan to move, please shoot me instead…
Thanks.

BTW, the cafeteria at the horsepistol has some pretty decent food.

Collectively, hospitals are working hard to erase that “ugh - hospital food” stigma.
When DH had the heart attack, they had an actual menu for patients to select from, rather than the usual plot where everyone gets the same sameness. Family members were also welcome to place orders. For those prices, they should have offered me a steak and lobster, but it was a welcome gesture.
Last year, we went to a “Taste of Heresville” sort of event, and the offerings from the hospital were far and away the best thing there. Amusingly, two of the restaurants that were at the fair have since gone ot of business.
Mercifully, when he had the gastric bypass, there was a studied avoidance of any mention of food on that floor. The public cafe was good, though.
Can I haz your CDs?
Blurf.
I dislike doing stuff for work on my own time. Luckily it doesn’t come up very often, but my boss had me drop off some stuff to get copied, which meant I had to get in a little late this morning to pick it up. And he apparently expected me to pay for it (and get paid back), which can’t happen this month. The guy there this morning had no clue so I’m waiting for somebody there to call me so I can make sure they get paid.
No.
Just kidding!
*Unloads her Best of the Polka Brothers, Tuvan Throat Singing for Beginners, The *Ishtar *Soundtrack, Britney Spears’ Greatest hits, and her entire *Yanni collection Enjoy! ![]()
I’ve toured the north and west forty on a cloudy, muggy, rainyish day. Ick. It was productive though as I expect three people to be placed in jobs in a very rural place plus I found a couple of good prospective program participants in an area that is underserved right now, so Go Me! Now I am back at the irk place which ain’t too bad cause I got a good grilled burger for N.O.L.. This makes da bear happy.
flytrap when you master Tuvan throat singin’ we expect a youtube video.
** flytrap, mooooom** will be very happy with you having all those shiny new coasters.
Howdy Y’all! Power went out at irk so I left around two. Never fear, I have been irkin’ from da cave. I also have a chikin pot pie bakin’ away and it smells so gooooood!!! Can’t wait to chow down on it.
Also, it’s rainy. YAY!!! We’ve had several big downpours with others promised this afternoon, tonight and tomorrow.
