It didn’t go over great THIS time. But repeat the outrageous statements enough and people get used to them. Outrage dwindles…and eventually some start to say “Hmm…maybe he has a point…”
If Trump can win elections he can intimidate his party. But if he can’t, the people who fund the sideshows will be more unforgiving of slights and might prefer people who can win elections. Of course, Trump may not be the most loyal of party members and just do his own thing. Plenty of people would vote for him.
(As for place names, one might think TRUMP might be his simple choice. But Trampa Bay, Orange Covntyfefe and Drumpfminister have more class. Ivankhorage seems a solid choice. And Ivana have Hope for Hickstown. Where did you grow up again? (Just some Hickstown, it’s in Penceylvania.)
And, once he gets them to say “Hmm…maybe he has a point…” you start to get some to say, “You see! Trump was right all along!”
These are people who believe children should be beaten when they misbehave. After all, they were beat when they were kids and they think they turned out OK. Of course, these are the same people who have decided that it’s OK to beat children, so they might not be as OK as they think. I have heard Trumpers argue FOR bullying in Elementary School, saying it builds character and teaches the poor kid how to handle bullies. When that kid gets his hands on a gun (or worse) and wipes out half a dozen classmates (or worse), their response is that there is nothing we can do since it was just a crazy person, and we can’t allow crazy people dictate public policy, particularly when it involves rights that “shall not be infringed!” Oh, that and “thoughts and prayers” for those affected (which are not them, since they prefer their kids to go to schools that don’t have crazy people enrolled in them).
It seems to me that as more and more of Trump’s blatherings become accepted, he runs out of targets, so to get more outrage, he has to attack those who might be allies. He has always done this (see McCain, Cheney, or any other conservative born before Kennedy’s assassination) but he’s run out of baby-boomer targets and is now having to aim for those of the younger generations.
And the pleasant, quaint village of Donnybrook.
(That made me chuckle. It’s certainly better than Jaredgrad. I will not further hijack this thread.)
Plus the grift. Don’t forget his primary aim is to suck as much money as possible out of his core audience. As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve gotten onto his radar – and the rest of the Republicans as well – with the email address suckmydickdonnie at my domain. Although there is an amount of the latest librul outrage brought up and please donate “so I can fight it for you!” at least half of the half-dozen messages are for T**** merch, hats, flags, yard signs, clothing etc. I’ve never seen so much merch from a candidate.
In addition, I’m getting emails from Congressional Insider with one outrage and several “offers” per message, sometimes deceptively headlined. For example, What is Big Tech Hiding from You “Woke” Christians Terrified Over Bible Discovery turns out to be a video about, “The Exodus Effect; the Antidote to Old Age Hidden in the Book of Exodus,”
In 1939, Dr Sula Benet found an apparent error in the bible: A mistranslated word that according to Benet, revealed the lost recipe to God’s healing oil.
Turns out it’s CBD wrapped in all sorts of Xtian language to make it palatable to them.
All want to dip into this apparently endless font of money.
Since PAB announced his grand plan for “Freedom Cities” have any R’s even mentioned it? I think for major impact, he should have added jetpacks to the plan.
No surprise, but it looks like this is going to be a large feature of the Trump 2024 campaign:
From the article:
One way of gauging the impact of bots is to measure the percentage of posts about any given topic generated by accounts that appear to be fake. The percentage for typical online debates is often in the low single digits. Twitter itself has said that less than 5% of its active daily users are fake or spam accounts.
When Cyabra researchers examined negative posts about specific Trump critics, however, they found far higher levels of inauthenticity. Nearly three-fourths of the negative posts about Haley, for example, were traced back to fake accounts.
The network also helped popularize a call for DeSantis to join Trump as his vice presidential running mate — an outcome that would serve Trump well and allow him to avoid a potentially bitter matchup if DeSantis enters the race.
Worth keeping in mind in our travels around the interwebs.
May?!?!?
Over the past 11 months, someone created thousands of fake, automated Twitter accounts — perhaps hundreds of thousands of them — to offer a stream of praise for Donald Trump. Besides posting adoring words about the former president,…
Not a problem. Elon will assure us that these are all agile bots, so are just fine.
It’s nice to know how much Elmo paid to buy a bot-infested company.
I thought that Wile E, Elmo, Supergenius said he was eliminating (or had already eliminated) the bots. Hint Elmo: your aim sux.
