OK, so I’ve been an avid reader of SDMB for a while, but until now I haven’t had anything decent to say but now have something that MUST go in the pit. I hope other board members will be able to help me figure out how to deal with my dilemma…
Yesterday we had a great pumpkin carving party. Everyone brought and carved a pumpkin in whatever scary or cute design they came up with. Then we placed them on our deck with candles in them to see how well they turned out. That was a lot of fun! At the end of the evening, we left our pumpkins outside so that they were ready for Halloween.
After 10 pm last night some idiot decided it was funny to take our pumpkins and smash them all over the street. I’ve never had this problem before and still have no idea how anyone could take something so cute (AND NOT THEIRS) and destroy it. I refuse to sit back and allow anyone to not have respect for other people’s property.
So, my dilemma is how to get retribution for destroying our works of art without taking it out on the entire population. We’ve thought about not giving out candy for Halloween so that we’d be sure not to give candy to the idiot who destroyed our pumpkins, but that would affect innocent kids on a holiday all kids love.
What do you think? Is there a way to get back at the slimy person? Or do I have to live in a world where pumpkin smashing is OK?
