Gilligan, “Rhyming isn’t my strong suit.”

Not at all so! I would add a link, but that symbol got in our way!

But if you insist
that you must stand firm against this
activity, abstain in disdain;
Do you want attrition and abolition?
Can your infiltration imply confiscation?
No, I think, you will not allow it to sink,
But add your own composition, on this condition:
it must match your past works, in quality if not in quantity.

…and worth trying. It puts a guy in mind of a kind of linguistic variant known as (sorry) “E*”, in which using forms of “is” (“am”, “was”, and so on) is not normal. Motivating this is a notion that using copula words is too lazy. I, though, think that if in fact that variant outputs any good writing, it is totally coming from an author thinking copiously about his work in a valiant try to totally avoid using bad words. If said author had thought to work as many hours at it without worrying about bad words, as with that worrying, that work would find a payback in a book with much polish—and not a difficulty at all from any forms of “is” in it.

Oy gods is this tough. Hm, ok, this is a toll paid by us, I grant.

My, I must say, this is truly a difficult task for our discussion board. It is such a difficult glyph to omit! Bravo and good job to all our mighty wordsmiths.

It looks as if our pal Toby will not join us again soon. For though his words did follow his own standards, this board has its own standards to go by.

Such a pity.

I don’t know what to say. I just have no inspiration.

I bought a bunch of graphics cards from Chipsmart’s liquidation auction a fortnight ago. Would any kind souls on this board want to buy any? I now own 45 cards (not counting two that I am using in my own box), most 8MB, but also a good showing of 4MB.
It was this or try to start an auction or 45 on 216.32.120.97 (ok, so that last part is sort of against Toby’s original spirit, but so what?)

Ooh ooh, I can do it!

I may not bring up anything worth discussing, but I CAN do it.

It’s hard to find a way of talking about past actions and many plurals, also.

A Quiz:

Can you right this word-list that contains a thought by adding a solitary glyph in many locations?

“mbersstmbngnnns”

[out of character]
“word-list that contains a thought”? I couldn’t think of another way to say “sentence”.[/out of character]

This is stupid! I will add nothing to this post. Do not follow this up with any boring opinions. I don’t want to know! Shut up!

This is too stupid.

If I conform to this, what will I gain? I cannot fathom how I will profit from composing an opus without a solitary “symbol you say I must omit from all posts I submit to this topic”.
Can you plainly clarify why I should do such a thing? I must admit, it is intriguing. At first, I thought “How sophmoric. I shall finish this task and put all who fail to crying my pardon.”

Crying my pardon. Hmmph. How fitting, that “I cry your pardon…” is found in a book by an author of some clout, having such works as “Cujo” and “Night Shift” and “It” in his portfolio. Curios.

This is not as light a task as you think, I should know. All I can say is that if I can complete this post without using any “symbols you say I must omit from all posts I submit to this topic” what would I stand to gain from it all?

Would anybody put a hand to my back and say “Good job, I admit that you did what I wish I could,” I think not.

I think nobody would put out so much as to put too much stock in a thing so obviously without gain.

Do you follow, or should I try again using that which your OP said I shouldn’t?

A book that I am writing (a short story actually) has no showing of said symbol. It is a bit difficult to pull off, but I think I can do it.

–How am I going to sign this post?

toasty pastry

Ohh man… this is just so hard.

You could go on about any topic omitting that famous symbol and still it would sound alright.

OK… how about fishing?

First bait your hook, using anything from sandworm to a fly. Now you can cast out. Wait for a slight tug, and if it continuously pulls, you got a fish!!

Start winding it in, not too fast though, or your fish could unhook. If you did it right, you will wind your catch in until your fish is within grasping span. Lift it up, and drop it in to your boat. WHALA! You got a fish!
This message edited by UncleBeer - PepperMan who is shortly to be banned, is really the string of dippymongers we had yesterday as well as qakkad, who was here today. Oh yeah, lest I forget, he’s also Toby & Tony

Yes, folks I really did edit the post by PepperMan. Carry on.

Hmmm. This task looks difficult, but I find that I can do it in my own clumsy fashon. I’m glad to find that I will accomplish it now. Yup.

I was trying mighty hard to abstain from posting to this ridiculous topic but as it’s an hour until I start work I thought I might do so anyway.

I can’t think of anything you folks would find particularly intriguing though… Possibly a short haiku?

Limits on writing
It was too hard to start with
I’ll go watch TV

I admit that my only motivation for writing this was blatant post padding, but as my post count is so low I pray you won’t hold it against this poor narcissist.

Oh no. I’m not happy about having to think this way. I think that any human who is happy about this hasn’t many things to occupy his mind. In truth, it is said that many hobgoblins of mind and spirit occupy humans doing annoying tasks as this. But what solution can fix this quandry? Tis a crisis.

Zv Stinhardt.

Wow! This is amazing I truly didn’t know that this was possible.

And a book without “you-knows”? I must borrow it. And if it’s on http://www. good. This kinda toasts my brain though. Now I must work…

And if I can use non-Anglo words: Cxi-tio sxajnas mirinda!

?! BBB adds link but I simply want symbols: “WWW”. Huh. NOW what do I do? Can I “turn off” automatic linkification?

{looks at bottom of window}

I can. But it looks as though it’s “global” across all of my post… :frowning: What if I want to turn off just 1 link?
