BBBobbio no matter what the pepper, I use gloves. Yes, even when seedin’ like bell peppers. One can feel a little heat even then if one touches ones eyes or one’s Mr. Happy. It’s also a good idea with very strong onion. These are the things one learns from experience.
In other news, I make a dang good peach cobbler. Just sayin’.
Home from watching piddle pup
I’m tired but she was good this trip. No messes to clean up.
Sorry y’all had to miss my weather report but I was up and out early and the only person I cussed today was the damn telemarketer who asked for me by name. Maybe those persistent little bastards should go bug the assholes in congress to balance the budget or maybe send them on a stink bug collecting expedition.
So today was hot.
Now I’m home, dinner was Gino’s. I’m looking for some soft taco recipes and churro recipes if anybody has any. If anybody has a good one for pizza dough.
**Sticky ** I have been restraining myself from posting any mono stories, the only thing that surprises me is that you are up and moving around. I thought that was not allowed.
**sari **- I’ve made pizza dough using my bread machine recipe with beer instead of water - very yummy! I don’t know how to convert it to regular dough making, tho.
I just finished making a black hat. The HOG chapter has asked for knitted caps by 21 Dec - I’m guessing they’ll be Christmas gifts for the veterans, so I’ll knit up all my black wool and the gray acrylic into as many hats as I can make. Because I’m nice, dammit! For now, tho, I’m going to bed. I’s very tahred between lack of sleep last night and 3 hours of hard digging labor. Tomorrow I hope to get at least half of it planted - depends on the heat. So we shall see how it goes.
Last night, I’m sitting in the den watching the boobtube with the windows open. I smell something burning; at first I thought it was something outside that was drifting in thru the windows but when I got up & walked past the window, it didn’t smell there. Uh oh, time to [del]panic[/del] check things out. I was finally able to find the source - a stink bug who was crisping himself in the halogen lamp!
That lamp gets too hot to touch, so I turned it off & went to bed (on the deck b/c it’s been so warm.) I wakey & open my eyes to see a guy with a very bright belt who is holding a bow & arrow; his name is Orion. – Very cool seeing that as the first sight of my day!
Unfortunately I had to get up instead of rolling over because I had to leave well before the butt crack of dawn to go all the way up the NJ tpk. (Drae, I waved a few times as I don’t know where up there you are, what exit?) I spent most of my day dealing with inflatey things & 16 hrs after I left I’s now home & I’s tahred.
It’s a dark 67 degrees outside with a projected high of ::gasp:: 88!
What happened to fall?
You know it’s a small world sometimes.
One of my clients called me to ask about my move and I told him it had fallen through but I was looking in Harpers Ferry and another small town in WV. He knows Harpers Ferry (who doesn’t) but he also knew the small town and the principal of the high school because he had done some jazz seminars there. Then I find out a friends son lived in that same small town, and his grandson still lives there.
Then when we were in Harper’s Ferry there was another couple at the overlook and I asked them some questions about Harper’s Ferry and it turned out they were not locals but were from a small town in PA, the same small town my ex-hubbie is from.
Anyway, not important but so weird because these are [SIZE=“1”]small[/SIZE towns.
Nothing important to do today.
Just irk.

FCM** can you share the recipe?
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 88 for the day. Looks like whatever rain we shall get from TS (probably soon to be TD) Karen, will be tonight into tomorrow mornin’ and probably will not be over a couple of inches.
I have a corn casserole settin’ on the kitchen counter because, well, I think you’re supposed to let refrigerated stuff set out a while before nukeulatin’ it. Anywho, I shall nukeulate it before leavin’ for deheathenization. I have one of those Corning Ware carrier thingys that has the hot pad thingy one heats in the nukeulator. Once the casserole and hot pad thingy are all heated up, it will all stay toasty warm for a while, so the casserole will be stay warm.
Ok, that’s all I got. Time for more caffiene and I should figure out sump’n to feed rumbly tummy. Purtification for deheathenization must also commence at some point.
**sari **- my mom traveled with my dad sometimes while he was still working, plus they traveled after he retired and she’s still frequently on the road since his death. Waaaaaaaaay more often than not, she comes home with a story of meeting up with someone from East Baltimore, either someone from the same church or who knew someone she went to school with or who grew up in the same area. I swear, everyone who lived in the Polish neighborhoods of Baltimore are sync’d to travel the same time to the same places and they always seem to find each other! In fact, in 1998 when we moved our boat to a new marina, we started talking to one of our boat neighbors - turns out he grew up a block away from my dad (they were roughly the same age) and he knew one of my cousins! Yep, small world…
As for the recipe:
[ul]
[li]1 cup beer (or water works, too)[/li][li]1 Tbsp shortening (I use butter)[/li][li]1 Tbsp sugar[/li][li]1 tsp salt[/li][li]2 3/4 cups bread flour[/li][li]1 1/4 tsp bread machine yeast[/li][/ul]
If you use a bread machine, after it’s done the cycle, you dump the dough on a lightly floured surface and knead it, adding flour as necessary to make it easy to handle. It makes two 12" pizzas. Grease the pans, and you can sprinkle cornmeal on before you spread the dough. Bake at 425° for 15-25 minutes - I guess it depends on how much stuff you pile on your pizza.
Well, that was fun - in the middle of typing out the recipe, my keyboard quit working. it’s a wireless, and the batteries went dead - it took me a few seconds to figure it out. I’m very surprised they lasted this long - I had to replace the mouse batteries quite a while ago. Of course, I use the mouse a lot more…
Anyway, I got up semi-early because I don’t want to get off my schedule too much. But I’d gone to bed early and I slept really well, so yay! I’ll work in the yard for a while today, till it gets too hot or I get too worn out. Daughter will be here on Firday - she’s going to a wedding on Sat and we get to watch Cozmo! That’s all the excitement hereabouts.
swampie, here’s the article about Schiori visiting Topeka today. I hope it doesn’t make the WBC feel obligated to picket us, they don’t believe that women can be clergy either.
Now wouldn’t it be trippy if your daughter is going to the same wedding I am? Except the one I’m going to is just the reception, in East Baltimore. I said I would go so now I am locked in, but I kind of sort of don’t want to.
I got a little more sleep, I feel alive but not much better.
I have no choice but to be up and moving around. If I miss more than three days of school I don’t graduate. This has been the culmination of the last 3 1/2 years of my life. You damn well bet that I’m going to graduate.
I admit I only skimmed the MMP.
The bad news is that the show got rained out pretty early. The good news is that RT was in Ohio so I got to see him for a bit last night. Although I admit it’s a bit less fun as I’m trying not to give him ‘stereo’ as he calls it.
Ok, this week is going to be the week of all weeks. If I can get my big projects done today then everything should be fine. If not, then look out, it’s going to be a wild ride. So, that means I need to get off of here and get to work.
I’ve been up for a while, knitting, reading, watching stuff online. I’ts been raining, so I’m thinking bulb planting will have to wait another week. At least I have them organized into how they’ll be planted. Woo hoo. Also bought some grape hyacinth bulbs yesterday so that I can remember where they’re all planted next year (foliage comes up both spring and fall; also, they look pretty with various bulbs).
I tend to use a fork to keep from touching peppers when I’m cutting them up.
I’ll add the pizza crust recipe to the blog. I made biscuits the other day and thought they might make a nice no-fuss pizza crust. Added a bit of whole wheat pastry flour and it made the texture really nice.
Good luck with projects, Sticky! Hope all the mono symptoms pass quickly. My old roommate had it once and was up and done with it in about two weeks. I’m pretty sure she didn’t miss any school, either. So…not all mono stories are bad.
