Mono complaint of the day. How not to make someone feel better: “Yes, my son had mono and it took him nearly a year to feel completely better.”
Can’t you keep that sort of information to yourself? I’m already drowning here as it is.
That is what I woke up to this morning.
This day WILL get better from here on out. I have a show today which is always fun. It’s one of the two shows that Dave went to with me. When I started getting sick I quit wearing my necklace (that was his) 24/7 because my neck was hurting so bad and I’ve since decided not to necessarily wear it all the time. Some days, though, I decided that he needs to go with me, so that’s when I wear it. Today, of course, will be one of those days.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis a muggy 66 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 90 and sunny for the day. Looks like we might get two to four inches of rain out of Karen beginnin’ tomorrow evenin’ through Monday. We shall see. Predictions are it’ll move pretty fast through here.
StickyBuns have a great show today!
spaz good to know another tp crisis has been averted. This is the reason one should always stock up!
Happy diggin’ MOOOOOOM!
Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, well, no big plans for the day. I need to make a corn casserole for Sunday brunch over to the church house tomorrow and figure out dindin for tonight. I could iron shirts but probably not. Yeah, big excitatement day here at da cave.
I had my first Gilbert and Sullivan society Mikado orchestra rehearsal last night. We have a new conductor this year. He’s an old friend of mine, but I hadn’t worked with him as a conductor before. He’s… challenging. His conducting style takes a bit of getting used to.
He also swears in Italian when he gets frustrated.
I was supposed to have a driving lesson yesterday, but my teacher didn’t show up. He later called me and apologized for the really stupid thing that he had done that caused him to miss the lesson - although what that stupid thing was, I didn’t find out.
I’ve got errands that I’ve planned to do today. Hmm, let’s see… I’m only an hour behind schedule. Should get to doing things.
And to close off this post, here’s a video for y’all - Beethoven played on a balloon. We should add this guy to our SDMB Symphony Orchestra.
Midget thank you. We needed some Beethoven to class up the place.
BBBobbio I have an appointment for some local Mediacom honcho to show up at da cave Tuesday. We shall see. What I do know is it will be resolved to my complete satisfaction. You have tutored me well.
Dayum, I thought Poblano peppers were supposed to be mild. I bought one for a recipe VWife wanted to make, and I even broke off the tip and ate it to prove to myself it was mild. It wasn’t any hotter than any green pepper I’ve ever had. So I went to clean it today for the recipe, and she started reacting right away. I pulled out the seeds, and to prove her wrong I took a bite of the seed membrane.:eek::eek: It was as hot as anything I’ve had with serranos in it.
The real complaint is that 2 hours and 3 handwashings later, I’m still getting pepper juice in my eyes and on my wedding tackle :eek::eek::eek::eek::smack:
I have a beastloaf in the oven for dindin. I felt the need to cook real food so beastloaf, mac ‘n cheese, field peas with snaps and cornbread. Gonna try out the pear relish on peas too. Oh and gonna make a peach cobbler. I sent OYKW to the sto’ for some good niller ice cream to go on top of the cobbler.
BBBobbio hope the burn goes away soon. YIKES!
Home, exhausted, with a truck full of lilies, coneflowers, black-eyed susans, and pachysandra, plus some 'maters from my sister’s garden and some cookies from my mommy’s oven. I had a crabber, but once I got to her landing site, she’d already offloaded, so I get paid, but I don’t have anything to report. Oh well.
**FCD **just barely beat me home from his bike ride - we both had bad nights, so I foresee an early night for both of us. Tomorrow, I’ll start to get plants into the ground - good times!!!
BBBobbio has demonstrated an important safety tip gentlemens. Ladies too. Wear disposable gloves when handlin’ hawt peppers.
Cornbread is almost done and then 'twill be dindin time. YAY!!! Soon as the cornbread comes outta the oven the peach cobbler shall go in the oven to bake whilst chow down commences.
Now I like hot but the Ghost Chili is just way too much.
First one I ever encountered was in Seattle. I was on tour with the Latin Rock Band and Beto(Albert) comes out of Pike’s Place Market holding a plastic bag and a huge grin. The guys are pepper hounds, even grow their own so when Beto proudly exclaims “I have the hottest chili pepper on Earth” the gauntlet was thrown, we were all eating a bit of it. I could tell from the faces who have tasted it before me that this pepper is exceptional because of the red and contorted faces but my reaction upon taking a 1mm x1mm taste was not “HOT” but “Hospital”. Slugging down a beer can of molten lead would have been more comfortable, the oils spread to cover tounge, then mouth and finally my throat. For a while I considered removing the offending parts but could not because there was no way to see through the deluge of tears and therefore no way to find my tools. The only thing I could hear was rush of blood to my head and gales of laughter. In about 45 minutes the urge to vomit went away and the burning sensation became somewhat less than torture, I was pretty sure there was light at the end of the tunnel and I would likely survive my encounter with the Ghost Chili…
Bein’ a former EMT and all, I have a drawer full of gloves, and I use them when I clean peppers I know to be hot. Please note that I said in the previous post that I thought Poblanos were mild, and even a test bite of the tip did not convince me otherwise.
