I am still on furlough. I wish those idiots in Congress would pull their heads out of their asses and pass a clean bill, even if it’s just a CR. I’m so sick of this shit.
I’m pretty down in the dumps. I’ve discovered too, that even though I have insurance on my plane tickets, I cannot cancel my trip to Kauai. “Changed financial circumstances” are an exclusion. So, I either eat the cost of my tickets, or go on my trip and stress the whole time about money. I don’t which is worse.
Everyone at irk was a big, huge sucking pile of **NEED **today. I had to take a break. Had to. In that I was almost in tears from having to bounce back and forth through all the **NEED **that got unloaded on me today.
But now that I’m home all is better. It looks like a “stab everyone on Skyrim” night tonight.
Home! Supper will be rotissed chickie from Food Lion because it smelled good and I didn’t feel like cooking. **FCD **is out monitoring a crabber, so yay for him! He should be home within the hour, depending on traffic. (correction - he just got home!)
An early dindin has been et. 'Twas nummy. Da bear done good! In a while I shall betake myself over to the church house for Evening Prayer.
MOOOOOOM a local grocery sto’ chain (Harvey’s) was bought out by Food Lion (AKA Food Kitty). Even though they retained the Harvey’s name, the sto’s are really Food Lions and they do make a good rotissed chikin.
So I got checked up at the doctor. Everything was fine. When the doctor told me the results of my blood test, and told me that my sugar levels were fine, I felt like saying, “Really? But I eat nothing but sugar!” But I resisted the temptation.
I should go and clean out the cat boxes and then get around to doing more stuff.
Food Lion put me through college. (My dad owned stock). There’s only one in Hippy Hollow. Ingles had the monopoly up here but now there is choice. There is also a Trader Joe’s which apparently was the Second Coming of Jesus last week when it opened. Squirrel AGM and I have been giggling about the organic rapture. He went there at 10 in the morning earlier this week and there were people circling the lot looking for parking spaces. Meanwhile, the Greenlife (the previous Holy Organic Store that was bought out by Whole Paycheck) was the emptiest it’s ever been since it opened. The joke being that the saved go to Holy Joe’s and the Left Behind go to Greenlife.
I go to Aldi which owns Holy Joe’s. So I guess that I’m partially saved? Fits in well with this whole religious crisis I’ve been having lately.
Yes. He didn’t really ask much about my mental state. Though I seem pretty stable now. Though who knows - my moods change as often and as swiftly as the weather in the Rockies.
And now back to work. This clarinet ain’t gonna practice itself.
I picked up my friend in Overlea (after gassing up and saving 80 cents a gallon because she let me use her Giant savings points) and drove over to Harper’s Ferry.
We went and checked out the house, with my poor friend white knuckling it for part of the ride. When the realtor said it was up on the mountain he wasn’t kidding. Th road wasn’t bad, if I had ever taken her back to my Aunt Teenie’s she would have fainted for sure - now that road was scary. Dirt single land road with sheer rock wall on one side and a drop off on the other and turn back and kiss your ass turns the entire climb.
The road was gravel a good bit of the way as well but we followed the realtor back out and skipped driving through the neighborhood.
The house needs a lot of work. The realtor wants the owner to do the work but I am willing if he comes down on price. I’d rather the owner did it, he knows the people up there. The neighbor seems nice and has two nice dogs that came over to say hi.
Then we drove down into Harpers Ferry, I wanted to check out the grocery stores and all to see how far away they are and get a little layout of the land. We ended up in the historic area, OMG such beautiful old homes and with a view of the Potomac. At the end of the street we pulled into a parking lot of a hotel that is being renovated and walked down to some benches to check out the view. I love the mountains.
We ate lunch at a place in Brunswick MD called Beans in the Belfry, which is an old church, complete with stained glassed windows, a balcony and even a few pews. The food was yum and the guys who worked there were so nice. Made me wish I were 30 years younger. I got a roast beef panini with sharp cheese, raw onions and a horseradish sauce. My friend got their version of a Rueben.
We got lost a few times and drove around looking at houses and the mountains
All in all a really nice day.
Home from Evening Prayer over to the church house. I was slackolyte again. I didn’t trip, drop the Cross, or burn down the Altar so all in all it was a success.
Yay for clean bill of health Midget!
Sounds like a nice day sari. Glad you got out and had some fun.
Spaz we had a for real Food Kitty sto’ but when they bought out Harvey’s they decided to just name it Harvey’s even though they sell Food Kitty brand stuff as well as Harvey’s brand stuff. Makes one wonder, ummm… why?
Ok, gonna go snoop around the intartoobz for a bit and then go beddy bye.
