Watching hockey. Live hockey in 46 hours and 30min. ;D
Glad you had a good day, sari.
Midget, you’re good at something you like. Keep up the practice!

If we drop a Torah we must fast for forty days. But, then, we are Jews, and find a way out. 39 of your buddies will fast with you for a day, and that counts.
Hey :smack:, shoulda asked for a picture of the “insipid thing I’m watching on tv” (shot from the correct reflective angle! :o )
Given the name & what (I presume) they serve, is that pews or Pee-Ewe’s? Probably both!
Flytrap, there are certain things that don’t go faster with more bodies thrown at it. Fer instance, 9 wimen can’t have a baby in a month!
I love that line!
My latest creation is awesome! Which makes me wonder how do they choose the Oscar for best editing? Isn’t all they see is the finished product, or do they get to see all the raw footage the editor went thru to make it such a good movie?
It was like Geek Christmas at the office as my neighbor was boxing up over $300,000 worth of network equipment that they had been evaluating. I think it’s closer to maybe $10,000 for the hardware, and $290,000 to license the esoteric software that makes the things run.
Closer to home, it’s stink bugs. STINK BUGS!! The sewing room has been overrun with stink bugs. DH must have sucked up three or four dozen of the little monsters with a vacuum cleaner, and after a few minutes poking around online, it appears that’s about the only effective management for them since the little bastards have no predators on this continent. The bigger mystery (to me, at least) is why they’re so fond of the sewing room, but it could be worse. They could have decided to infest the bedroom. Ick!
I guess I should go to sleep
Band practice went well, My Pearl is lovely to play and the boys liked her too. They also thought she was pretty and there was much awing and oohing. She sounds like the Voice of OG and the recordings are great. I am in love
Sorry to prattle on about me and my new fish
Jim
I can’t sleep. I don’t know what’s wrong, but I feel wide awake. I know I won’t sleep if I lay down, but I need to get rest. If I don’t, then even if I go to work early, I’ll be dead on my feet at some point.
I did take some time to write a letter to the editor of our city newspaper. It’s about the gov’t shutdown, and the budget crisis. I blame “we the people” for having hired(by voting them into office) the current crop of congresscritters. I said if you didn’t vote, then shut up about the problems, because by not being involved you helped create them. And if you don’t even know how your own reps have voted, or their current position, then shut up, because you helped put them there. My suggestion? Next election, don’t vote for any incumbent. At least we can admit we screwed up, and fire the current crop and try again. If the letter gets published I’ll link to it.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 63 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 88 for the day. Today I get to [del]torture[/del] test folks. If someone who is applyin’ for our services does not have a high school diploma or equivalent we must now give them a literacy test, i.e., the Test of Adult Basic Education. Joy.
gotti ick! Hope y’all get rid of the critters soonest.
Jim glad the boys and you are enjoyin’ your fish.
Baker I hope your letter gets published. If you ever need help writin’ a letter we have our letter writer in residence, BBBobbio, who can assist in makin’ sure the letter contains just the right amount of invective.
Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy is hongry. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence. Le sigh.
Happy Thursday Y’all!
Blurf. I should get my behind off to work.
The stinkbug infestation reminds me of the Great Japanese Beetle Invasion of the mid-80s. That’s the reason neither me nor my sisters will ever plant corn–the Japanese beetles *loved *it and loved to put their squirmy evil nasty larvae in the ears. Flash forward a quarter century and it’s been years since I’ve seen a Japanese beetle. According to SpazDad who knows these things, the birds figured out they could eat them. If a bird doesn’t eat something in its first year of life, it will never eat it. Baby birds tried Japanese beetles, found them good, and started eating them. Maybe this will happen with stink bugs too.
I’m about to write a letter to the editor of the local weekly liberal rag. I’m going to thank them for letting me know which minor issue I need to be outraged about each week. Last week I should have been horrified that people think Lester is a backwater town*. This week I should be offended that people are “making light of obesity.”**
*Lester is a backwater. I’ve been there. I know people who live there.
**Which is a hilarious pun I’m sure the letter-writer didn’t pick up on.
Never had an argument with a Rabbi, have you?
Happy Thorsday!
It’s a cloudy 61 degrees with a projected high of 82.
I am up way too early, so it’s going to be a blurfy day.
I have to irk, walk hell pup, maybe drive to Easton to pick up a boat motor for a friend and then more irk and take Sah-son out to drive. Tomorrow he has to drive with the people from the driving school for the first time and he is still nervous.
No amount of reassurance from me seems to help. I hope they can give him the confidence he needs.
Spidey The beans are coffee beans. I was expecting a home style restaurant with beans, corn bread, barbeque kind of place. Instead you walk in to sofas, coffee tables, church pews, and various styles of dining tables and mismatched chairs. There was even a child sized table with child sized chairs in the corner with some old timey toys and a bookcase full of books.

Morning.
Midget, get thy hind to irk!
Glad Pearl made a good impression, Capt’n.
Blurf.
Wound up spending an extra hour in the car park yesterday, in the rain (though there is a sheltery bit), by meself , 'cos the guy with the keys to lock up was on another job and was running really late. Oh well, at least I should get paid for it.
Out there again tonight, and it’s raining again. I should go out and do stuff before my shift, but I just want to make a blanket fort and hide in it eating cookies and watching cartoons all day.
The main thing that’s stopping me doing that is the fact I’d have to go out in the rain to buy either cookies or flour to make them. Anyone want to bring round some cookies? You can play with my lego if you do.
Nope. For the same reason cops don’t issue speeding tickets to clergy; even if you win, you lose!
(later on)
** Sari **, Religion & coffee; how awful!!!
Morning all,
We are all currently laughing at a co-irker, who drove all the way to the only pass and id place in the area that is issuing cards only to show up with an expired passport. Now she has to drive back home and then back there. /nelson on/ Ha-ha! /nelson off/ I only laugh because this is totally something I would do and this is not typical for this co-irker, she is usually pretty coordinated.
In other less funny news, I feel like I am swiming underwater today. I did not sleep well at all, had very vivid dreams about how sad and depressed I am feeling, I literally remember thinking that during the dreams, and am subsequently am feeling like a hot mess or rather a luke-warm mess or something.

Never been to a Lutheran church, have you?
My sinuses are acting up today. I’m getting dizzy. We’ll see how long I last at irk. Tonight at 6 EDT is zero hour for finding out if the Parkway closes. I’m not holding out much hope.
By the way, on behalf of all WNC I apologize for Mark Meadows. On behalf of myself I assure you I did not vote for him. (I also never voted for Walter “Freedom Fries” Jones when I lived in ENC just because I thought he was an idiot for that stunt.)

I sure hope so. Every website I’ve looked at says these things are an import from Asia (just like kudzu!) and they have no natural predators in North America other than the vacuum cleaner. Maybe we need to start bringing over whatever eats them in China. Of course, once you get that deep into messing with Mother Nature, who knows what you’ll unleash? It’ll probably be something like the birds that eat stinkbugs also eat honeybees, and those are already in a precarious state with colony collapse disorder.
Oddly enough, Wikipedia says one sub-species of stinkbug called the anchor bug is beneficial as it eats Japanese beetles. For your daily moment of UGH! it’s also noted that Laotions consider stinkbugs delicious. Unfortunatey, none of my neighbors are from Laos.
My office is full of them because they come over in shipping containers. I hate those little bastards.
