The Early Worm Gets the Bird -- an East of Greenwich MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis a rather chilly and windy 45 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 65. Guess this means I need to pull out a gasp jacket.

January 6th is Epiphany. That’s all I could think of for J and 6. Special1 I did that because I just knew you would after I dared ya. :stuck_out_tongue:

Howdy Haze! LTNS! Yay for the new gig.

Apes glad all is better.

Tao my mother made up ground beast and rice to feed dad’s and her two dawgs when the dawgs were amongst us. They were only slightly spoiled little beasts. I referred to 'em as my two youngest brothers.

Feel better Herbs!

Everybody in the path of Sandy, stay safe and check in when and as you can, ok?

Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy is hongry. Then, alas and alack, 'tis Monday so irk purtification must commence.

Happy Monday Y’all!

Good morning. I am a dedicated professional - I’m in the office. I’m probably nuts, but I don’t get paid if I don’t work and I kinda like getting paid. Altho if the weather gets worse, I’ll go home and hunker down. Right now, it’s just raining like crazy and it’s a bit windy, but nothing extreme yet.

As to the OP, my sister’s name is Janice, so there’s 6 letters starting with J. Plus she was born on the 9th of the month, and 9 is 6 upside down, so there’s a tenuous link also.

Haze!! About time you quit ignoring us! Good luck with the new job!

**tarra **- I wasn’t particularly into Mark Lindsay, but I had a really dirty teenage dream about him way back then! I have no idea where it came from, since my true love was Micky Dolenz!!!

**fang **- I’m assuming that’s Dr. J? I know only enough about basketball to know traveling is bad. So is double dribbling. Oh, and Shaq is one BIIIIIIG dude!! That’s all I’ve got.

I had an email this morning about my craigslist ad for our fireplace insert - it’d be really cool if it sold, too! But whoever buys it needs to come with help to load it - that sucker is heavy, I can’t help with it, and **FCD **will not - not with his back. Anyway, we’ll see.

I can’t think of anything else - I’m breakfasted, so I need to get to work.

Happy (soggy) Monday!!

My Grandad’s (and my ex-boyfriend’s) birthday was the 6th of January (ex’s still is, Grandad now deceased).

Our clocks changed yesterday, so I get the lovely feeling of having had a nice lie in, but the clock says I’m up early. Today is good day- also just had unexpected money, just when I’m feeling horribly poor.

Also discovered that my batty allotment neighbour might be going shortly, and if/when she does, I’d be able to take over her plot (leaving me with only one creepy flasher neighbour and lots of nice ones)- which would let me grow some more fruit trees, but most exciting thing is it’s one of the few plots on site where the council should be OK with me keeping bees!

Then as soon as I get that email, I got a message from the beekeeping group asking if I want to sign up to their training course next year, which is about half the price they were running it at last year. It runs from January, conveniently finishing the week before my birthday (a scary one ending in a ‘0’), for which my parents have suggested buying me a hive.

This pushes my chances of getting bees from ‘I’d like to get them sometime in the future’ to ‘hopefully in february’. Still too soon to get too excited, as my batty neighbour could still put a stop to it by changing her mind, but still…
My own honey! Wax! Mead! happy dance

YAY!
that’s all I got

That is indeed the good Doctor at work, although probably not on a Monday morning.

Traveling is bad in both basketball and life, on those days when hurricanes are about. Be safe FCM. That goes for everyone else, too.

Bingo!

Feel better, herbs.

Good luck with the new job, Haze!
My name starts with J and I was born in June. What do I win?? Wait, I know the answer to this. I win a trip to water aerobics this morning where I’ll be putting on cold and wet water shoes that haven’t dried since the last time I was there because I forgot to pull them out of my bag.

At least one more person has come to work on this floor, so I’m not entirely alone. And he’s the security guy, so I should feel secure, right? Sure, why not.

Still no winds of significance - the pines outside my window are just swaying gently. So far, so good… And I can get home without driving thru any low-lying areas, which is also good.

Back to work. Stop distracting me, dammit!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Flashes shiny object in front of MOOOOOOM. Don’t work. Look at the purty, shiny thing instead. :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously, those of you in the storm’s path be safe. Maybe it’ll go away quick.

Irk is promisin’ to be it’s usual irky irksomeness. Then again, it’s Monday, so what did you expect bear. SHEESH!

If I wanted to sympathize with OBL, I’d go pee in the shower, while the cold water is hitting me right in the face…but I won’t. He did not look happy this morning & thank OG for indoor plumbing for us human-types! That hatch is battened down again & now it’s off to work. Today, that consists of moving about 3’ to the laptop because it’s an official WFH day. Stay dry everyone (& everydog)!

While I’m close to my older sister and we talk or text fairly often, her three kids are seemingly pretty busy with college or starting their professional careers and I try just to stay in touch from a distance and hear all the skinny from sis. They’re all great kids and fun to follow.

I did however have a relatively lengthy conversation with the oldest this weekend because it was important he knew how much we loved him and supported him with a recent revelation. He’s always been artistic, studious and just a great happy kid with lots of friends. We figured that’s why he never dated, he was just busy with life. So it was a complete surprise to learn Friday that he’d come out.

I called him late after he’d got home and he and I had one of the best, longest and open conversations that we’d ever had. Usually when we talk it’s Thanksgiving or Christmas or some busy time with lots of people around and the conversation never has the chance to develop into anything deep, but Friday we finally had that chance and I found myself thinking back to it any number of times the rest of the weekend and being grateful we finally had that opportunity and used it to our mutual benefit.

I’m glad he lives in a day, place and age where people are becoming more accepting of differences in all of us and realizing that’s what makes us us. He knows how much we love him and we’re a little closer now than we were before. That made the last couple of days pretty special.

There are few things good about living in the Midwest and not having hurricanes (or himacanes) is one. High winds are predicted for tomorrow along with Lake Shore Drive flooding. But I don’t drive on LSD <snicker> so I’m o.k. And I’m too fat to be blown away.

I haz a migraine today so I’m beating it down with caffeine and aspirin and whatever else is in generic Excederin migraine pills.

I got nuffin for J and 6.

lieu I hereby elevate you to the title of “The Good Uncle.” I’m glad your nephew and you had such a great talk. I’m sure he feels good knowin’ he has your support and understanding.

Feel better WetOne.

MOOOOOOM it’s soundin’ kinda ick up your way. Go Home!

Howdy all.

Waiting a few hours before going into work this afternoon. I get to go “chase” whatever is going on today in my trusty? ancient Suburban.

I brought a life jacket with me today, just in case.

My twitter (if I get around to using it) is @WUSAUnit5 and our station is providing live video at their website wusa9.com for out of towners.

More later -

Still not bad enough here to merit an early exit, altho the trees are moving a bit more. I’m going to try to make it another coupla hours before I bail. I’m actually gettting stuff done when youse guys aren’t distracting me!

FCM, do you mean bail from work to go home or bail from home to evacuate to someplace further inland?

Be well, all affected by Sandy!

Just gonna leave work. Our house is on a hill, so flooding isn’t a concern, most of the trees that could threaten the roof have been taken down, and I think the close ones are strong enough to endure, and we have a generator, so if we lose power, at least we can turn it on periodically to keep the fish alive and refill the water tank so we can flush!

I’ll probably split in about an hour. Gonna try to finish up a few things first.

We had a few minor gusts of wind here - just enough to shuffle the leaves on the lawn.

Morning!

Lots of rain but no wind here.
Land line is down, so no irk for me.

sah-kid still asleep, sah-dog snoring away

You know, I’ve have been about twice as anxious, edgy, irritable and slightly bitchy lately because of this upcoming test. However, I have tried to remain calm when dealing with my classmates for tonight’s group presentation. However, it freaking pisses me off to no end that not only did someone fail to look at what had already been added to the powerpoint and did a duplicate of what I already had in there but not a freaking one of them has responded to the email that I sent on Friday telling them about it!

I mean, hello? Just because I’m at least 13-15 years older then all of them does NOT make me their freaking mother! I am giving them until noon and then I am going to fix the damn thing and put it together exactly the way that I want it.
