I am unable to recover my old email. But I got a new phone and I can’t log in from my new phone because I don’t have the password.
What can I do?

Paging @engineer_comp_geek, he usually handles these.
I was just triple checking that my email is current (it’s one of two that are) and noticed that Discourse allows you to add a secondary email. It’s under Preferences > Account, but you still need to specify one or the other as “primary”.
When ECG answers, maybe he can let us know if you can recover with just the primary, or the secondary as well. Please and thank you!
PS - if you can, time for all of us with multiple active emails to give ourselves a backup!
Nevermind I figured it out.
I just went into the settings on my old phone and pulled up the password file.
And was able to recover my password.
I forgot password manager was a thing.lol

Still, I recommend that the email address you associate with your Straightdope account be one that you check regularly, in case the moderators need to contact you about something.

It’s been a while, but the last time I tried that it only sent the recovery email to the primary. Kinda defeats the purpose of having the secondary if you ask me, but that’s the way it worked. Maybe they’ve fixed it since then.
If you end up in that situation, send me an email at EngineerCompGeek@gmail.com and I can toggle which email is the primary.
