The end of an era – a reflective MMP

Good morning everyone.

I am very full of grrrrrrrrrr. My STOOPIT-ASSED mail carrier has decided we don’t live at our house anymore. I went to grab my mail and there was a notice in my box saying they considered my address VACANT.

Arrrgghhhhh! I have bills to pay and I need the statements. Also, I’m worried that I’m going to have contact all my creditors, the utilities, etc, and tell them that YES, we STILL live there.

Arrrrgh!

I didn’t know waitresses had to be put together. I always thought they came pre-assembled. The things I learn up in here!

I’m feeling all better now. I’m still being left alone. I like that. A lot.

Know what would be fun? Rigs and BooFae having a catfight at Taxi and KeithT’s wedding! All in favor say “Aye!”

Taters, did you PO anyone who would be mean enough to turn in a fraudulent change of address on you?

Aye!
I thought parts of it were funny. I just didn’t get the hero-worship, and I’ve been listening to two years’ worth of quotes from it.

It snowed a bit, and then stopped. I’m almost done my chores, and trying to decide what to do till work.

My second paper is about literature of trauma. I have to write about the presence as absence, the inheritance of disinheritance, and a lot of other convoluted things that don’t make any sense.

BooFae, you still clawing rigs’s eyes out? Because I could, like, send you this paper over, like, now. Except it’s nothing but a blank sheet.

Okay. I am going tackle this b-tch and get it over with! And I’m not coming back until I do! (Okay, well, maybe I’ll back 'round lunchtime. For a short break, you understand.)

Wouldn’t watching a few episodes of ER help out with that?

So you’re reading… case studies?

Not to my knowledge. To be honest I hadn’t checked my mail in about a week (I have a locking box). I’ve gone that long before without checking my mail and it hasn’t been a problem.

Sorry to disappoint you but there isn’t going to be a catfight. It’s tremendously rude to wipe the floor with someone on a first date…and rigs deserves to have that catfight with someone down at her own level instead of trying to elevate herself to mine.

Now then, where’s that paper, Haze?

I can accept that. As long as you know it was at least somewhat funny.

Literature of trauma reading list:
Song of Solomon (racism)
Jimmy Corrigan (dysfunctional family/child abuse/loneliness)
Maus (Holocaust)
Elizabeth Costello (comparing the consumption of meat to the Holocaust)
Bitter Fruit (South African arpathieds)
A Good Year (cancer)

I think that’s everything we read.

Apart from the fact that the course was traumatic in and of itself (it was at 9 in the morning, for 3 hours, in a room with no windows) the professor drove me insane by spewing out jargon and phrases that sounded erudite but that no one really understood. A traumatic class about traumatic literature. It’s all so META. Gah!

Morning, all. Not much to say, but I’ll be keeping an eye on y’all!

Changing the tone a bit, how’s the virus therapy going?

It’s going well! Last month the count was down from 1.2 million in March, to 90. 8 more weeks to go! I will get new results on Monday at my doctor appointment. Not working is easing the stress and fatigue tremendously. I return to work on Feb 20. I think I’ll be ready!

Thanks for asking!

Yay, rebo!

It’s quiet today. There are homemade chocolate chip pecan coconut cookies available, though. They’re nice and crispy. I’ll send them through the CD drive to anyone who wants one.

Yay Rebo! That’s just superduper fantastic. I’m glad the treatment/therapy is going so well. This calls for a cool kids celebration!

In other news:

I ate lunch and am still being left pretty much alone. All in all, it’s turning from a sucky day to a pretty ok one.

My, Swampy is grumpy this morning. Let’s all leave him alone. What kind of stuff do you what to wash and dry at work? I thought you dealt with mopheads and mop handles and ornimmints and wire haaaaaaaaaaaaangers. Or do you wash the mopheads? I did that once - it fell apart in the washer and I got to remove lots of string.

I still have not heard from Leslie about Robert’s procedure. She told me last night that she expected to let me know something around 11am. It’s now 12:30 and no word. I hope it doesn’t mean they had to take him in for surgery.

Rebo, that is great news!

Why are boofae and rigs being so mmmffrf and pfffft this morning? Sounds like someone had too much meow mix this morning. Or maybe I’d better not say anything…

I have to go to the post office and to get cat litter. Back later.

They sell cat litter at your post office?

Sorry, had to.

Hi, all. I got distracted yesterday by (a) working hard to try to get this last job done before leaving town, and (b) palebunny’s arrival. Which ended up being an airport run for me instead of Papa Tigs because he ended up stuck at work because the system went down. The joys of managing computer systems. :dubious:

Anyway, she has spent most of the time since her arrival with either one or two dogs gazing adoringly at her and/or leaning adoringly against her and/or thumping tails joyfully at the sight of her, etc. It’s been VERY cute. Or being purred at by the cat. It’s safe to say that everyone is happy she’s here.

Just dipping into the thread since I don’t have time right now to catch up completely, FCM, Rusty the Idiot Golden Retriever can tell time perfectly. They get dinner at 6 pm and bedtime snack at 9 pm, and he’s very good, gives us lots of leeway; he demands dinner between 5:59 and 6:01, and bedtime snack between 8:59 and 9:01. Nice of him to allow us that extra minute on occasion, isn’t it? What amazed me was that when the time changed, it only threw him off for exactly one day and then he was back to 5:59/8:59.

Love the mantree, canineservant!

Big car repair bills suck, Jah!

Nice new toy, Swampy! Papa Tigs is getting a laptop from work. Actually, he’s had it for a week, but it hadn’t been configured to actually use it to log into the system from home and he’d been told they’d get around to in 2-3 more weeks. (Excess security paranoia, basically.) Of course, as soon as his boss realized he’s going on vacation, that timeline got moved up, so it’s being configured as we speak just so, lucky him, he can bring it with him on vacation. So they can still chase him down. I think I’ll at least turn his cell phone off for the duration; what kind of vacation is it when they want to bug you every 5 minutes about work stuff?

That’s all the dipping in I have time for; I’ll be back later after a doctor’s appointment followed by a Trader Joe’s/Amish market/drugstore/bookstore run. Then I can catch up as I work or, more accurately, don’t work. I’m getting a bad case of the don’t wannas to day, which is BAD timing. I’ll probably manage to get it done, but apparently leaving in 24 hours isn’t sufficient pressure. It has to get down to 12 hours before I get motivated.

Dang! Them megastores just have everything these days don’t they?
