 Four weeks!? Round here you give two if you’re nice and sometimes they say “that’s okay…we’ll have security help you out with your stuff right now.”
Well, actually…yes. (See above)
Hey, I just found out we have tomorrow off, too! Whoot!
Listen here, Mr. [del]Big Stuff[/del] Bus Guy, you can’t just go tearing through the MMP like that! The sign says come to a complete stop! :dubious:
That’s what I thought. Hmmmm, and rice cereal is supposed to be the most easily digested, too. Just a thought…if he is teething, that could factor in the diarrhea.
Capitol Lunch, perhaps? DH waxes nostalgic for them, and has described a few things that sound as odd as hot dogs boiled in oil.
Tomorrow begins the Great Telecommuting Experiment, where my commute will be from the kitchen up to the office, and the only traffic jams will be if the dog is sleeping on the stairs.
I nearly had a major accident on my commute from my bedroom to my office this morning – not one but both dogs chose to lie directly in the doorway, and trying to step over them without spilling coffee on them, I nearly stepped on Isaac. Who then leaped to his feet, affronted, causing me to stumble around like an idiot trying to maintain my balance and not pour hot coffee all over the Idiots. See, even a short commute can be dangerous, folks!
Okay, now I really need to get to work. The intarwebs are just too distracting sometimes, you know that?
Spent most of yesterday cursing at my serger for being uncooperative. The Boy’s best friend is getting married on Sunday, and I couldn’t find a top that went nicely with the skirt I picked out… soooo, I decided to make one.
Yeah, I’m dumb like that.
Anyhoo, it’s mostly finished and I’ll take care of the last few touches tonight, as I’ll be on my own until The Boy gets home from teaching a class at the local college. Assuming I leave work at a reasonable hour, that is… I’m going a little cross-eyed from all the spreadsheets I need to review.
BTW, thanks for the Vionnet book, LiLi. It’s come in awful handy in designing and cutting the top as I wanted to do something satiny and cut on the bias.
gotti, congrats to you and DH. That’s one heck of a way to celebrate Pride Weekend.
Soapy, I am somewhat perplexed at the concept of cooking hot dogs in boiling oil. :dubious: It sounds more like medieval torture than a legit cooking method… 'round these parts, everyone knows the only proper way to cook a 'dog is to put it on a hot grill and serve on a lightly toasted egg bun. Nom nom nom.
It’s even quieter today. There was almost no traffic on the way in this morning. Our four day weekend doesn’t start until Friday, so I guess tomorrow will be really dead. The building is “closed” tomorrow, so by the end of the day, all of the public areas will be completely trashed and there’ll be no toilet paper!
Have I mentioned that I sit next to a women who’s 7 months pregnant? She eats non-stop, which wouldn’t bother me, except that it’s Froot Loops. Crunch, crunch, crunch, All. Day. Long.
My scarf needs to be frogged, but I promised I’d take pictures first. Have to find the camera for that.
I love the Dope. I got the answer to a really frustrating database question within an hour of when I posted. So much easier than trying to track down the answer from a book or trying to find someone in IT who knows.
Ahh, $tarbucks is keeping me going this afternoon. I love mocha.
And I actually did get some work done. I tested a new field on the database, I set up 4 new databases for a survey (don’t ask… it’s an all around dumb way to do things, but “that’s how we do it!”), and I updated some documentation on a process that someone else will need to do tomorrow since both the main person who does it and I (the backup) will be out tomorrow. So I’m almost productive!
Evening all. I am just about ready for bed. Yaaaawwwwnnnnn!
I have my final (I think) interview tomorrow, with the CEO of the bank. Fingers crossed this works, 'cause I am just about ready to tell my current boss exactly what I think of him! I can’t really say what the problem is, but (apart from being a clueless nitwit who has no business managing the office) he just has a knack for being both ingratiating and overbearing! He is an oaf! If I don’t get this bank job, I think I will just cry.
Okay, hugs, yays, boos etc. to all who need 'em. I am off to bed.
What a fucking nightmare. I just tried to apply for financial assistance with Kaiser and they told me twice that I made too much money last year. :dubious: For the record, I made about NEGATIVE 20K. The woman was just too fucking stupid and looking at first my sales and second my employee’s wages last year not my actual income.
THEN a fucking creditor called to harass me about a past bill for something that my health insurance should have covered, but I didn’t find out about it until much too late to submit it. I offered a reasonable re-payment plan and she told me that it wasn’t reasonable at all and that I needed to get a REAL JOB.
**
Fuck Kaiser and Fuck my stupid ass creditor.**
Does anyone have any suggestions for what to do with a bunch of cut up roast chicken that was marinaded in cider vinegar and a bunch of other stuff? It tasted really good when we made it, but the cider vinegar flavor throws off all my normal “what to do with leftover chicken” ideas. Doesn’t really work with Italian type dishes, doesn’t work with Asian flavors. What else could I do with it?
taxi, chicken salad is the first thing that sprung to mind that won’t be totally “weird” with the cider taste (maybe like a chicken/green apple salad with some walnuts, to play along with the cider vinegar). If the vinegar taste isn’t too strong, tho, maybe you can get away with a chicken pot pie of sorts?
**{{Pie}} ** Running your own business ain’t easy… which is why I don’t do it anymore. But on the bright side, at least you don’t have to deal with a crappy boss.
I’ve got incoming migraine. Probably spreadsheet induced, or maybe just the latest evolution of this stupid half-assed cold that’s been lingering for the past week… blargh. So much for finishing up my sewing tonight, or dealing with all the other chores I’ve been neglecting the past few days.
So what do I get for the other 7 birthdays you missed, huh huh huh? (kidding)
And yes, I read through most of Kushiel’s Mercy on Sunday and polished it off yesterday morning. It was good, but I’m rather disappointed in the plot device that turned most of my favourite characters into total raving morons for 3/4 of the book. I suppose Carey had to do something to make Imriel a likeable character, but it’s a bit of a cop-out, IMO.
BioTigs I’m shocked at you! All the publicity about commuters doing things that are distracting during their commutes and here you are commuting and drinking coffee! I have one real hazardous turn when I telecommute. Going from the study to the living room, I have to go into the hall and make a sharp left. If I’m not careful, I’ll bump my knee on an end table. Those commuting hazards are everywhere I tells ya!
Of course today, there’s been no work-related commuting of any kind. Just a commute out to the pool and over to the cooler to get a beerverage from time to time.
taxi I thought about a nice green salad with the chicken on top. A little balsamic vineger and olive oil dressing might be a nice combo with the apple cider. Or, a raspberry vinegarette.
We’re inside (duh!) now. It’s been nice. Hyoooooomid as all get out but the temp is low 90s and there’s been a nice little breeze, makin’ it nice out by the pool.
Yeah, don’t it though? But it’s really, really good!
We got the Mac back from the Apple store. We lost everything on the hard drive. Everything. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT ask me if we had a back up. I do not want to talk about it.
Thank Og it was mostly my son’s school stuff, which he did have on a flash drive. All the digital photos were uploaded to Snapfish, so that’s good too.
Chicken salad (mayo, chunky apple pieces, dried cranberries, some celery, walnuts)?
{{Pie}} Gotti- Blackies in Wallingford, CT. mmmmmmm
Can I admit something stupid? I didn’t realize you were a guy until I opened the photos of your marriage! Somehow I missed that subtle, unimportant point. :smack: I am very very happy for you and yours!
