Looks moderately interesting. From what I can gather the premise is that we the audience see all the evidence of a crime up front, before the show’s detectives. Not sure if we’re supposed to be able to solve it from that like some sort of Murder Game or what. It’s on after Lost, which for me means it pretty much gets taped/watched by default.
We set the DVR for it. Probably get to it by the weekend.
I thought I had missed it, and that it was already canned.
Im in.
Hmm. I’m about two-thirds of the way to calling bullshit on this show. The whole “dial in the DEA number” was a bit too cute for my tastes and I didn’t understand quite how “deliver flowers” turned into “get the opportunity to go through a desk to steal prescription pads.” But it’s a pilot episode and I tend to give pilots a fair amount of slack, so we’ll see what happens up until it gets replaced with either the rest of the season of Alias or Invasion.
Here’s my stream of consciousness while watching:
I’m pissed L&O was moved to 9 PM so I am boycotting Heist on principle. Plus I love Orlando Jones (he was great in Evolution–oh, that’s where I’ve seen Earl’s brother before) and Rob Estes is a favorite. Ooo, Martin Landau (I thought he had died), good to see him again. Aaah, the pretty British blonde, a staple in the crime lab, and whoa, an impossibly beautiful Asian woman brings them some reports. I have to say I’m tired of seeing unrealisitically lovely support staff.
OK, so Rob’s pregnant wife was killed and they never found the killer…set up for future episode where we find out some archvillian was the one, a la Lethal Weapon. And in the meantime he has plenty of pity sex waiting in the wings.
As far as the actual crime, it did seem rather a stretch. I suspected the security guard right away but for no good reason. If she was that upset, couldn’t she have taken a moment to force her boyfriend to listen to what she’s saying? Medical school is tough, but surely you could be a few minutes late for a situation as dire as that?? And who would remember a DEA number while gasping their last breath?
How hard is it to find a knife that’s been tossed? After all, they find a fraction of a hair in the landfill. And did they really take the time to examine the severed finger (in the crime lab!!) for serration marks before reattaching it?
Overall, it was fun and I like the two leads so I’ll probably keep watching. I just won’t assume that you could (or even that the lab could) solve the crime using just what they show you at the beginning.
I thought it was sub-standard. Showing the evidence up front made for some sense of expectation, but not much and I expect it will just diminish as the series progresses. Other minor bright spot is that the two leads seem to have good chemistry. Everything else, though, seemed sub-par. I’ll look for something else on before I watch it again.
I caught a rerun. I didn’t think it was anything special, but it was a pleasant thing to pay some attention to.
I caught the repeat on Saturday night. The gimmick isn’t that great, but Estes, Jones, & Landau are all pretty fun to watch. So’s the woman who played the DA.
Not going to replace InJustice as my favorite investigator show, not going to keep me from Heist for the few weeks I have before that gets pulled ( ), but cute.
Better than CSI:Miami, which is a show that’s just plain lucky to have the cast it has.
