I believe a private citizen should be allowed to use the minimum necessary amount of force to keep a trespassing aggressor from getting back up to continue with further lawbreaking. I believe it’s astonishingly difficult for such a citizen to discern whether a trespassing aggressor is trying to (a) continue or (b) flee. I believe the trespassing aggressors should’ve stayed down, and believe we should stop citizens like him from hitting folks like them if they stay down.
Just because he has an escape route doesn’t mean the women didn’t present a potential threat. For example, someone breaks into your house and you somehow subdue them at gunpoint. You tell them to stay down and not move. If they say, “how about I just leave now” you’d let them? If they move, you shoot them. They may have been trying to leave or they may be positioning themselves for further aggression. You can’t know as you say.
I think it’s clear in our justice system we allow force to be used for the purpose of detention in some circumstances. This seems like one of them.
The extent of her injury would not have been clear at the moment, and may be counter-intuitive based on such a slender instrument.
Which point? He wasn’t trying to stop them from fleeing, he had every reason to believe they still represented a threat and that allowing them to get back on their feet would have been a bad idea.
Could it have been the floor?
So THATS why people who get into bar fights never end up with anything more serious that mildy hurt feelings? Gawd, what a fucking retarded point that was.
Perhaps typically both (or all) parties in bar fights are more likely to each be suffering from the effects of alcohol?
Do you really not understand that?
When you say “suffering from the effects of alcohol” you mean “can demonstrably smack a sober guy upside the head faster than he can react, and can then nimbly vault over to the other side of the counter,” right?
No, you don’t get Hentor’s point. You see, the McDonalds guy was supposed to say “ladies, please stop for a moment. I need to get out my personal breathalyzer and test you so I can tell if you are so shitfaced you pose no real threat or just drunk enough be be fucking crazy dangerous”.
And internet tough guy indeed. Hentor whooped some some stumbling drunk’s ass without even trying! Thats almost as an embarassing a post as the other “fighting expert” here who posted about how they avoided a major fight in 2nd grade.
I don’t get how “I’m giving the guy the benefit of the doubt because he was attacked by psychos for no reason” equals internet tough guy.
If we were saying there was no need to beat them with a stick because we’d have started the fight with a ninja kick that would’ve knocked them out cold, or something like that.
Internet tough guy claims would be directed at alternate ways to end the situation that were more badass and less distasteful.
Although I’d like to see an alternate world video where he decided to be merciful because they on the ground, so she reached into her purse, grabbed a knife, and stabbed him in the femoral artery. And while he was bleeding to death, he said “I… did not want to … use… enough force… to justify… internet… outrage…” crumple
What are these comments about a “faked” video? I’ve not heard anything about it outside of this thread.
The prosecutor, I believe during bail hearings for the McDonalds guy, showed a video in court that was cut off at the start - that is, it showed only the beating of the women without showing the provocation for the beating. The prosecutor claimed it was because of a “technical glitch”. It was not “faked”. It was just “glitched”. Wink wink.
